I have a diesel heater for my RV that I live in full time. It has saved my life on several occasions. When I bought this rig it had a propane furnace circa 1987 and it would regularly flame out in the middle of the night and would start pumping in freezing cold outside air in. The diesel heater that I replaced it with has been extremely efficient. It can get down to the teens outside but I am rocking 80 degrees inside. If you live in a tiny home or RV this will keep you cozy and safe as long as you install it correctly.
I was looking for heaters for winter camping and came across your channel. We met labor day weekend in Green Mountain Nat. Park, It was almost dark and with no where left to go you saw us looking and shared your spot with us! Thanks a ton brother! Subbed!
Cool video, thanks. It's a good idea to screw a couple of 2"x4"'s to the legs to raise it, then join them with a piece of plywood. Saves anything getting near that exhaust manifold underneath.
Heads-up: the exhaust should not be pointed up at the sky but needs to be angled downwards at at least 10 ° from horizontal below the unit to avoid excess carbon build-up.
I bought one of these 2 years ago for my 24x24 workshop. I live in North East Ontario (8 hours north of Toronto) where the cold can plummet to -40 or -50 in no time. This heater will take the chill out of my workshop to an acceptable level. You can still see your breath at times but you certainly don't need a parka or ski pants to do some shop repairs. I have no regrets with my purchase.
If you extend the controller wires so it can go in your tent it has a sensor that will act like a thermostat and make adjusting the temp much easier. Also password 1688 can be used to adjust heater parameters
1:15 "This filter isn't dong anything" The filter is designed in the combustion 'system' and although it might restrict flow, it is needed for proper air / fuel ratio so you shouldn't worry about it. Best to keep bugs and dust out of the combusiton chamber. I would worry, tho, about restrictions in the heating passage of the fresh air 'system' where you want to get the most heat into the air. Good luck!
Mixing Kerosene with diesel prevents it from Gelling up..Diesel Gels 15F and below..which would render the heater useless..or you could buy a bottle of Anti-Gel and add some to the diesel for them same result.. Diesel does not like Cold temps
Thanks for the tip! I always welcome more and more knowledge to the channel! So far I haven’t done any mixing but will keep in mind if I ever have issues in the future! I hope you check out the diesel heater install I did in my RV!
changing a 5a fuse to a 20a fuse could take away your safety that the fuse is there for and get you a fire, believe me i set my car on fire and i was lucky to get the fire out before i lost it but it cost me a great to repairs of re wireing the rear section of the car
Up here in Canada I bought a booster pack that's meant for recreational so you can use it for a trolling motor it's a deep cycle not a lithium cause it's cold in Canada wont-work I don't understand why people are paying this much money for Jackie they're pretty minimal looking there's no air compressor they don't offer that for the amount of money you get they're not worth it man
i've just bought a maxpeedingrods 5kw diesel filter for my roof tent haven't used it yet but you just clarified a couple of answers for me. i've heard you shouldn't start it up with a cigarette lighter attachment do you know if this is true as i have a bluetti 200 max. and would like to go camping again in early spring. any answers would be appreciated keep up the good work i've just subscribed. Cheers.
So i just need to find a 20 amp fuse and a cig adapter like you have and i should be able to run this right with the jackery 240I have. Do you have a secondary fuse attached to that wire?
Do you think this would keep my truck bed camping setup warm? I live in the Rockies in Northern BC, where we routinely get -40°C (-40°F) days in the winter
If you got one I would recommend a 8kw unit instead of a 2kw unit, might need a bit more heat up there. Check out the unit installed in my caravan and it might give you some ideas!

You can charge while it’s running! So, to figure that out you just need to know what AH battery you have, let’s say it uses 10watts average, at 12v dc, that would give us an estimated 1.2amps/per hour of run time on a battery! So if you have a 60ah battery you are going to run for approximately 50 hours before a charge would be needed!
@@JeffofTheNorth I see other people changing fuel line and putting in a fuel filter , have u done any other mods to it ? I’m think maybe do that and extend jackery cigarette plug so I can keep it inside the tent have it stay warm and hopefully get more juice out of it .
Hello brother. Help me with some info please. So i have the same heater and the same Jackery 240Wh, the thing is the heater is not starting. You think it could be from that 12 v fuse from inside ? Should i take it out and put a bigger one ?
Are you receiving power to the thermostat? If you are not the fuse is definitely blown, this might sound a little odd but also make sure the DC button is pressed on your jackery, if you do find a blown fuse don’t do above a 10amp so you never have the possibility of burning any wiring 20amp if you are feeling risky but there will never be a time the unit tries to pull enough power to burn it.
@@JeffofTheNorth i won the battle. It just started to run. I didnt know you need to wait 15-20 minutes when you first using it just to start up the heating process
@@Laur1312 yes sir, check the video of a unit like this installed in my RV! It shows a different thermostat available and more insight on what’s inside of these boxes. Mine is currently blasting me with 186degree air!
@@Laur1312 but oh yeah sorry I meant to also add how it’s the glow plug heating to initiate a burn! Can take a couple minutes when it’s cold sadly haha
First video I have seen of yours. I just purchased the same unit and was wondering if a 12 volt cigarette plug would work...now I know it will, thanks....
Just make sure the wiring is adequate and connected directly to the battery source. Do not plug into the stock cig port on a vehicle. The glow plug pulls significant power, 10A on startup. Recommended 12awg if extending to long distances for voltage drop, 14awg comes standard for short distance. Any less will melt wires or blow fuses

How does the angle of the exhaust affect carbon buildup?

I figured with the gauge wire being used commonly withstanding 30amp breakers it wouldn’t be much of an issue.
@@JeffofTheNorth I think a 15 amp will cover it fine as it only draws about 12 amps at startup.
