We have a family data plan but we sometimes run out of data a few days before a new billing cycle. Its usually not caused by these cameras since the cameras just sends you a 15 second video clip. I suppose data might be a concern if you watched a lot of live camera shots.
Do you have to merge networks on your phone ? In other words if you have cameras at your home that are on your home network, will you also still get alerts on your phone if eupy camera is connected at another location connected to a jetpack ? Thanks
Yes, the cameras will send me notifications regardless which wifi my phone is on...and I still get notifications if there is no wifi for my phone at all since I am just using cellular data at that point. I hope that helps!
The purpose of the jetpack is to establish a wifi. Another word for "hot spot" is a "wifi hot spot". I think they are the same thing. "Hot Spot" typically just refers to when a cell phone (which a jetpack is just essentially a cell phone) is broadcasting a wifi signal to share its internet connection. I could technically be wrong about that since I am not a wifi scientist.
You first need to set the base station up to a traditional wifi router (not the jetpack). Once its all set up on a traditional wifi router you can then easily change the wifi name & password on the base station to the wetpack.

I use several models of Eufy cameras, indoor and outdoor, and I like not having to pay for monitoring service. I currently do pay for Simpli Safe service on certain properties that my insurance requires "full service" monitoring and Simpli Safe can provide a certificate stating they are "full service". Eufy does not offer such documentation for insurance purposes.
I dont think the floodlight cameras are compatible with the Eufy home base. However, the Home Base will NOT connect to a jet pack right out of the box. I have a JetPack connected to a Eufy Home Base & wireless doorbell camera but I first had to take the Home Base to my house to connect to my personal wifi to do the initial set up before I could them switch the Home Base to the JetPack. Kind of weird but easy to do once you finish scratching your head wondering why the extra steps are needed.
