Nice review! I ordered this hotspot before discovering you. The ethernet port is what sold me since I can plug a Raspberry Pi based communications device directly to the hotspot. Today, I took my setup to a location that's known for little-to-no signal. Oddly enough, the hotspot pulls-in more signal strength than my phone ("bars mean nothing?"). When the bars turn to an "X", turning on my WeBoost yields and apparent full-strength signal on the Orbic and mid strength on my phone. Do you know if the Orbic's receiver is more sensitive than the Note 20 5G? Anyway, blistering up/download speeds are not essential in my application, but connectivity is. I'll continue to test. Thanks for your efforts!
PS: Did you happen to change website addresses recently? The URL on your "About" page does not appear to work; nor, does it match the RVMobileInternet address that's featured in various videos. Just thought I'd let you know so that more people can find you easier.
@@MobileInternetResourceCenter true but at least looking for a ballpark idea. Maybe compare it with what 4G LTE hotspot speeds in your area are so I can get an idea of what kind of improvement if it's just a little bit better or double triple etc.
Great review, thanks Trying to get the lingo down Is a cellular embedded router a standalone alternative to a mobile Hotspot like the Orbic Speed 5G/Netgear M5?
I have had one now for a few weeks. The speed is way better than the old hot spots. Mine will never fully charge unless I turn it off. I get messages like been charging too long charging is reduced. It has been on a 45 watt charger for 10 hours and is 21% charged. I'm used to leaving them plugged in 24/7.
I'm interested if this has better antennas in it than the 8800L. If you could show dB and SNR levels that would be great. I have the 8800L and have found that external antennas don't help much at all, and in some cases make it worse.
The 8800l has internal 4x4, external would be going back to 2x2. We always advise testing both, because when 4x4 MIMO is available, using external 2x2 can indeed reduce performance.
@@MobileInternetResourceCenter THANK YOU!!!!!! I had no idea and couldn't figure out why my cellphone would work better in some areas than my 8800L with the Netgear MIMO antenna. Reduced performance has been disappointing. But now, with your education, I feel better. Thanks again and keep up the great work.
Great video....:) Not having antenna ports in my opinion is a big oversight. I see people not buying the unit just for that reason. Looking forward to your test results....:) Have a good day....

So my question would be is it worth getting now due to the old x55 chipset and not able inability to combine low and mid-band frequencies for carrier aggregation? Or went for a upgraded chipset
Here's our latest news article, the previous link had the companion video at the top. Both discuss the chipsets. The device can be a one-time purchase, unless you opt for a financing option with payments to your carrier. For cellular service, most plans are on a monthly basis.
It depends - cellular reception and performance depend on many different factors. A router is a very different approach than a mobile hotspot device - www.rvmobileinternet.com/cellular-devices
Do you think the SnapDragon 65 in the new ATT NighHawks will make a significant difference compared to this device with the 55 in them? I’m a Truck driver and run Team (one sleeps one drives so we move almost non-stop). My cell service is ATT and my Partners is T-Mobile. So I purchased the Orbic 5G and a Verizon Premium plan as our primary device with phone hotspots/feathering as our backup. I’m hoping I don’t regret it because on paper the new NightHawk Pro seems to be much more future proof and I qualify for a business plan that is cheaper then Verizon’s (with a few catches). Heck on Paper T Mobile makes the most sense with their crazy large 5G footprint….

Really appreciate your expertise. We have an upcoming vendor event in Fort Worth conference center and are worried about intermittent speeds due to an overwhelmed network. Would you recommend we use the new Orbic Speed 5G in place of our current Orbic Speed for more reliability?
Just ordered the orbic 5g uw with 100gb date will arrive wed will let u know. there is a 5g tower about 1/4 mile from my house. 100gb date is 40 dollars since i have a 5g phone so 2nd line.
The data cap is associated with the data plan that you are using, not the hotspot itself. Verizon does offer other plans with limits higher than 25GB. You can learn about our Top Pick Data plans here: www.rvmobileinternet.com/planpicks
My company just rolled out 40 of these to people in the field and they have been awful. We're in Atlanta and across the board they are slow and stop working with 5G turned on. If you switch to 4G only it's fine....at 4G.
I would never recommend the Verizon Orbic device. It has a terrible track record for performance. I have had the Orbic for nine months and I can say that it randomly disconnects the WiFi and the cellular reception drifts in and out. You must be in close proximity to a Verizon tower or you will not receive consistent performance.
I have an orbic phone and I can say 100% orbic sucks they are nothing but garbage steer clear of them. A brand new $280 phone isn't worth a damn a waste of money can't stress this enough do not ever get an orbic.
We camp remote, so lack of antenna ports is a deal breaker. Hope they add MIMO antenna ports.
Will the WiFi act like a router so the devices using it can talk to each other, e.g. for shared storage, a printer, etc.?
In very limited capacity.
How does it compare to the Jetpac 8800L which you previously reviewed? I'm limited to Verizon as a carrier where I am
