This is what good diplomacy can achive. I'm glad Cuba & Italy are in great relation and this is one of the fruit of this. I would also say that you Kirby as an american are very good ambasador of US with your elegance and respect to other cultures. Hope you will get Habanos man of the year some day! :)
Kirby, my limited understanding is that in Cuba, they do not accept credit cards. In your travels there, how do you pay for a fine meal and stay/room in Cuba? Do you take large amounts of US Dollars and then exchange them once in Cuba? Or exchange money prior to departing US for Cuba?
There is good article in may issue of Cigar Aficionado about visiting Cuba as american. There is local tourist curency with 1 to 1 ratio, but it's not worth much so you get better prices paying in USD (thats not 100% legal)
Beautiful place. I have a friend who is from Cuba and what is funny about this is that he is there now visiting his family. He lives here in the states. Jeff
The original owner of Villa Eulalia, now Casa italia, in Cuba was Gabriel Palmer Bestard, a prominent Spanish businessman who immigrated to Cuba in 1904. Before the Cuban Revolution of 1959, the property was a private family residence. Gabriel Palmer Bestard was known for owning shipyards, a fishing fleet, and other businesses, employing thousands of people. After the revolution, like most private properties in Cuba, Villa Eulalia was confiscated by the Cuban government. Today, it is operated as a boutique hotel and is state-owned, likely managed by entities tied to Cuba’s tourism sector, such as Gaviota S.A. Villa Eulalia, located at 5ta Avenida y Calle 6 in Miramar, Havana, is included on the U.S. Department of State's Cuba Prohibited Accommodations List. This designation means that U.S. citizens are generally prohibited from engaging in direct financial transactions with this property, as it is associated with entities controlled by the Cuban military, intelligence, or security services. The list aims to prevent such transactions from disproportionately benefiting these services at the expense of the Cuban people or private enterprise.
The Boutique Hotel Casa Italia in Cuba is officially owned by the Cuban government, like most hotels on the island. It is likely managed or operated under the umbrella of a state-run entity such as Gaviota S.A., which is associated with Cuba's military and oversees much of the tourism infrastructure. Claudio Cardini, an Italian businessman and founder of Daiquiri Tours, is reportedly linked to the operation or promotion of this hotel. Cardini has been a prominent figure in Cuba's tourism sector, collaborating with the Cuban government to attract international tourists and manage luxury properties. However, the ownership of the physical property remains under Cuban state control, as foreign entities typically engage in management agreements rather than outright ownership in Cuba.
To be the best at anything in Havana means absolutely nothing. There’s no competition or anything else to compare to. And to call the city beautiful while 80% of it is in ruins is preposterous.
Kirby has become so pompous and still has little to no knowledge of cigars and tobacco, Kirby looks like the football team made him drink toilet water in high school
If Allison promoted Cuban tourism or sold products from Cuban artisans in a way that involved financial transactions or commercial partnerships, it could potentially violate embargo laws.
Don't you understand that as long as there are the communists and the military nothing will ever change because you don't tell the world about the process of the Cuban government in London? Why are we not talking about the relationship between Cuba and Hamas?

If Kirby Allison is engaged in any business activities that directly benefited the Cuban government or state-owned enterprises (such as hotels or shops), this might be scrutinized under embargo laws.
Kirby, I love to see the beautiful things of my country, of the city in which I live during my early childhood. This was a beautiful video. But it is NOT the everyday Cuban reality. It would be a more realistic view if you would show the real side too. That house where Casa Italia is today was most likely confiscated from a prosperous Cuban family that left the country when the animals and assassins took over the country an established a murderous regime. Please talk about that too. Be fair!
As I’ve commented before. It’s disgusting you continue to go there and continue to fund that regime. The locals can’t do that. You should be embarrassed.
Sr, by having your holidays in Cuba. You are financing the Cuban Government. The government that violates human rights from its citizens. 64 years of slaving the Cuban people in a violent force. Your dollars are paying for the PRISONS where political prisoners are kept. I respect your freedom to travel to Cuba. I don't respect those that profit on the pain of others seeking freedom.
Imagine how awesome this hotel would be if not for communism. Stop glorifying it!!! Do better than this. God bless the people of Cuba but making this look like some dreamland is just pathetic.
The fact that the United States refuses to normalize relations with Cuba is a pathetic reference to how US-politics remains racist. A beautiful country with great people and so much to offer.

Did Kirby just say some of the best food he has ever eaten has been in Havana?
The stained glass is not "original from the era." The original glass was a Tiffany representation of the archangel Gabriel.

It depends on the country. In US it is normal, as wearing a hat when you eat. That would be a big faux pas in Europe.

Why?
Only if your stay is comped by the hotel. UA-cam is full of videos of people reviewing their hotel/resort stay. Nothing untoward about it at all.
