    This is some footage I gathered from the first couple of rides on the new Gas Gas EC 300. I tried to put it through its paces in all sorts of different terrain to really get a feel for it. I've got a good idea now about what I need to modification wise to make this the ideal bike for me. I'll definitely but letting you guys know what I'll be doing to the bike in a video soon.

    Your new bike is awesome! I started riding 18mos ago at 44yrs old, found your channel and watched all your instructional vids. At first the journey felt hopeless but I kept my chin up and kept trying. Today I'm actually a respectable rider and I owe you, traction erag and Barry a huge Thank You! I love this sport and more importantly love sharing it with my wife and 12yr old son who are also having a blast! I hadn't used my athleticism since high school, this sport makes me feel young again.

    Congratulations on the Gas Gas. Your years of practice is showing in this video. Very inspiring, and good for you. I am watching this while being badly injured from just hitting a rock on a trail and getting off quite violently. Need to learn/practice more. Thank you, for all of your videos!

    Very cool!! I think it's your best video yet. Great body position and body English shots repeating normal speed and slo mo, so easy to see position timing as well. Music and motor sound was a great balance.... you are intense...can sense you "pushing" into the terrain ahead rather than just "riding" it. :) riding one click out from 10/10 👍😎

    So why the EC300? Why not a Sherco, Reiju or KTM? Just looking for opinions. Im in the market for a lighter bike. I use a 2018 KLX250 for easy enduro but Id like to start getting into more technical riding here in AZ and dont really wanna take a 300lb bike. Love your videos. Those AZ videos are sick!

    • @megs_braap
      @megs_braap  Рік тому

      I originally chose the EC because they’re a little cheaper. I would prefer a TE because it had a heavier flywheel and I like the chassis better, but they were none available anywhere at the time. I wanted to stick with the KTM/GasGas/Husky platform because I really like their counterbalanced motors. They vibrate way less than all the rest which is good for me because I have bad carpal tunnel.

    You are quite an inspirational rider , even for men's ! Congratulations !
    I in one of your video you mentioned that you lowered this bike about 1 inch . Is this 1 inch really noticeable and helpful for you ?
    Or would you go even lower instead , like 1.5 or 2 inches ?
    What's your Inseam if you don't mind I ask ?
    I have 30 inch Inseam and I am thinking to send my suspension for lowering. I would more than grateful for your response please ?

    • @megs_braap
      @megs_braap  2 роки тому

      Thank you for the kind words! Yes, the one inch of lowering helps me quite a bit. If you go any more than an inch, you’ll start to notice the loss of ground clearance and it’s not ideal. My inseam is 29 inches.

    Megan, at some point as a topic you should discuss the pros and cons to wearing wrist and elbow/arm protection as I see others have made that comment in being surprised you don't wear any arm protection. I have only assumed due to lack of agility with the gear on you typically do not but have seen some cringe video's of guys in Colorado having a wipeout and to see the persons wrist broken that is wearing the cam and the sound of extreme pain, its a hard watch !

    • @bikersoncall
      @bikersoncall 2 роки тому +1

      I don't know about wrists, but I sleeve up and
      wear lightweight, softshell elbow pads and knee pads all the
      time now. I fall, lol, I get up, no worse for the wear.
      A tiny fall or scrap against branches and brush with
      bare skin is bleeding time for me, with just that little
      bit of protection, I'm assured 80% plus reduction in
      minor injuries. I'm in AZ hotter than Haitis half the year,
      I don't mind wearing the gear much anymore, not compared
      with the alternative.

    • @charlesb4267
      @charlesb4267 2 роки тому

      @@bikersoncall I am from far far north of you in northern Alberta and for the most part we don't typically get anything too insanely hot although last summer we had a major heat wave come through that broke historic records. However years back I had been in Arizona a couple of times, tombstone ... Phoenix area etc during the middle of winter and will say your winter weather is like our summer weather in that part of AZ, and flagstaff like a warm winter day here. On another year I was through flagstaff during the summer and ultimately drove through Death Valley and it was 118f and with a high wind. That would be much like your southern AZ summer time and all I can say is holy hell !, I wouldn't be out on a dirt bike in that period LOL. Without having megs skills to say the least I would have to be wearing a full body cast to even dream of riding through the rock garden, and would have to be cool weather so I could survive in my severe body armour.

    • @bikersoncall
      @bikersoncall 2 роки тому

      @@charlesb4267 118 is common here, and
      yeah, death valley is smokin' hot. We
      routinely get 125f days in the summer,
      sweltering. You just get used to almost
      not being able to see for the sweat
      streaming down your sunglasses, lol,
      it does get miserable at times.

    • @charlesb4267
      @charlesb4267 2 роки тому

      @@bikersoncall Then you must really be in the south to get routine 125 days, one thing is a given, you don't have problems mosquitoes as you have a natural bug zapper beaming down at you from the sky. I think its a horrible hot day if it gets above 80 here and can't physically work out in that temp. 60 to 65 is my go to temp, not too hot, not too cold LOL.

    • @bikersoncall
      @bikersoncall 2 роки тому

      @@charlesb4267 We don't get mosquitos
      every year, but sometimes in October,
      they are thick as fleas, lol, actually there
      are no fleas here, Ca was full of them, but out here, they just don't exist.
