Thank you for sharing this important information. I had 1 clinical pregnancy miscarriage followed by 2 chemical pregnancy miscarriages and was referred to an REI by my OB. Under my REI I had another chemical loss and finally got diagnosed with Antiphospholipid Syndrome. All of my chemical losses happened around 5 weeks and my clinical loss at 6 weeks. I cannot imagine how many more losses I would have had to endure to get help if all of my losses had to be clinical to “count.” Thanks to my REI’s diagnosis, my next pregnancy was treated with Lovenox and I now have a 7 month baby girl ❤️
I believe I’ve just had my first chemical pregnancy.
I’m 32, already have 1 healthy baby boy who is 2.5 years old.
I am on the heavier side but I had a really smooth pregnancy with my first. Loved and enjoyed 98% of my first pregnancy.
Recently we’ve started TTC and this was our second cycle. I went on a pregnancy test frenzy and got a lot of faint lines. I got a pregnant result on the ClearBlue digital pregnancy test which I was ecstatic about.
Around 20 DPO I decided to start doing a pregnancy line progression because my line was getting slightly darker but not dark enough. I did one test which also had a faint line. Later that evening I started bleeding so I thought I was having a miscarriage. Went to the Emergency Room, they did some blood work, checked on womb (they said it was closed so that’s not where the bleeding was originating from).
The blood work showed that my HCG was less than 5 which meant I wasn’t pregnant. The bleeding was just my period and what a heavy period it has been 😭😭😭. I’m still going through it. Normally my period is 3 days and 4th day is normally spotting. Today is day 5 and my period has been consistently heavy the entire time. Emotionally and physically I’m so over it 🩸
To say I was shattered would be an understatement.
Side note, I was excited when I got the positive tests but deep down I wasn’t feeling it and I don’t know why. Even when I told my husband I was very reserved in my excitement because somehow I didn’t “feel it”. Hope that makes sense.
Anyway I pray this was my first and last chemical because it is mentally, physically and emotionally draining.
Love from South Africa 🇿🇦
im so sorry for your loss. I recently had a chemical pregnancy too and think theres something to be said for staying in tune with our gut feeling. I didn't have good feelings about the positive pregnancy test either and i guess it turned out i was right
I’m 21 and in the last 11 months I’ve had 3 chemical pregnancies (all at just about 5 weeks). My doctor told me I wasn’t pregnant. They wouldn’t do any testing until 3 losses. The first 2 I didn’t get bloodwork done, but the 3rd I had a positive blood test. I don’t understand why it took 3 traumatic and heartbreaking losses (not that they were acknowledged) to have things checked. Thanks for sharing all of this information ❤️ it’s giving me hope that I’m not crazy.
I have been binge watching all of your videos because im now at 7 chemical pregnancies in a row :( i'm so lost and feel so defeated. after my first 3, i got the regular blood work and everything was normal. i went on to keep trying. happened again 3 more times. then i took a 2 month break to really try and focus on myself more and see if it helped, give my body a break. tried again and i just recently had another one. i contacted my doctor, i got blood work done, including checking all of the hormones and i'm just so confused with the results reading constantly about it all.. i have 2 healthy boys and im so grateful to have them but i want one more :( this is heartbreaking ..
Great video. I would love to see a collab between you and Mama Doctor Jones!
My 20 year old daughter just had a chemical pregnancy this morning. Thank you for this information.
What I find most frustrating about differentiating between clinical and biochemical is it is dependent on when the doctor is willing to do an ultrasound. Some REIs will do them as early as 5 weeks. Mine will not do any before 7 weeks.
I had 2 biochemcials back to back which just resulted in my period being late by a couple of days. Then I had a positive pregnancy with serial HCG testing that miscarried at 6 weeks. I had asked for an ultrasound because it was an IVF cycle converted to an IUI with 4 large follicles and I was terrified of an ectopic because I had bleeding and pain. But was told no. The resulting natural miscarriage was super painful and lasted for over a week. Would start and stop, I had painful contractions and was stuck in bed. And even after the bleeding stopped and HCG went down to negative, my clinic said I had to wait for a period before I could do another IUI. I tracked my ovulation and had a normal ovulation 3 weeks later. I ended up having to wait 5 weeks for a period and then another 2 for ovulation. So almost 2 months before I could try again.
And now this experience is termed a biochemical because I never had an ultrasound. But it was NOTHING like my first 2 biochemicals. And if my period had just been a couple days late then my clinic would have let me try again with the next ovulation. There should be a line separating early biochemical from pregnancies that cause you to miss your period.
Thanks so much for all your wonderful videos!
Thank you for this video🙏🏽
You're so welcome!
This makes sense. So I did have a chemical pregnancy 😢
Me too 😭 Last month 💔
@@GabysJourney I’m so sorry 😢
I knew! I had 4 pregnancy symptoms the darkest + on a test possible. I went to see my dr. on 5weeks and 1 day like a crazy person and said ok can you see the sac he said there’s nothing here 🫠
Hugs!!
I like the way that you actually presented this had people I've seen people talk about this but I've seen other OBGYNs but not really talked about it so much from the fertility aspect of it so this was an interesting topic and an interesting video on the way you put it I like that
Glad it was informative!!
Thank you for explaining . I guess mine was a chemical pregnancy loss ☹️
Btw, just wanted to say you're looking so pretty here! ❤
Thank you for all your excellent videos - I’ve learnt so much! I have had 2 ETs one ending in ectopic and one is chemical, both in the last year. Also in the last 2 years I have had multiple chemicals. I was told very early that I had a submucosal fibroid but my consultant keeps saying that he believes my age (42) is the issue and not the fibroid and that removal is difficult (FIGO type 2) and will likely cause more issues with scarring. I completely disagreed and last week went for a private MRI which showed the fibroid pushing into the cavity, leading to thinning of the lining over the fibroid and displacement of the opposite side. Do you agree this is likely causing issues and should I continue to push for removal?
Thanks for this informative video. I’ve had three chemicals miscarriages within the last 2 1/2 years. I knew each time because I was trying to conceive and I know when I’m ovulating. Additionally, I’m very exact with my periods (every 28 days).
I turned 44 this past month and I’m Mol to three children. I had my last one at 37. I had a clinical miscarriage at the age of 28 (at around 10 weeks). I just had recently had uterine polyps removed.
I’m generally healthy
I have a healthy lifestyle
And I just recently gained 20 pounds out of no where.
The last 10 years have been the most stressful of my life but I’m slowly regaining peace.
Please help ❤
Thank you for sharing. The video was very helpful. I had my first chemical pregnancy In April.
Glad it was helpful! Sending love!
I always watched and learned a lot from your videos. I am almost 4 weeks pregnant( home test) and it’s been 3 days that I am experiencing a lower back pain and hip pain. No bleeding. Is this consider as miscarriage? I have a sore boobs but not feeling nausea anymore.
I am curious! I had a clinical pregnancy (miscarry 7 weeks) A couple years before i had some uterine scar tissue removed- could that have caused the MC or is it unlikely?
I have had 3x this year, and am physically and emotionally exhausted😢😢😢
I am 26, and experience chemical pregnancy loss twice. Exhausted physically and emotionally, just curious what's the cause
I literally found out I probably ovulated late and tested on CD28/29 and was negative. Used a 6 day sooner test after missed period two days later and got a faint line. Went to the doctors a day after and line was very faint but visible. They told me come back next week to see if it got darker. The next day which is today I got spotting and now it’s bright red and some clots I saw in the toilet. I’m experiencing some mild cramping and fatigue but took an easy@home test and the shadow of the faint line is there. I guess I’m experiencing this right? Should I go to ER to see what’s wrong?
Had one on Christmas day :(
Can u please advise me. I last had my normal periods on 17th Nov 2023 then, missed my periods in December 2023. I took a pregnancy test in Dec and it was negative. I waited for January to test again so on 20th Jan 2024 i spotted blood on tissue then put on a pad and it was dark stuff on it. On 21st i started bleeding heavily with clots coming out. I started having painful cramps. Then, 22nd Jan took a pregnancy test it was positive. On 23 Jan i went for a scan and was told the uterus is empty. So m asking did i have chemical pregnancy or Clinical pregnancy?
I am 40 and just had a miscarriage at 5 wk we never saw a baby only a sack is that considered a chemical or early pregnancy loss. I have had two successful pregnancies 24 and 20 years ago. We are currently trying again to get pregnant. Any suggestions?
I’m so lost and confused in my case. My HCG continues to rise, scans show nothing. I also have bleeding but it’s been going on now for 8 days. I don’t know what to think. Why is HCG rising but we can’t see anything in scan? When I started bleeding HCG was 1025, second test was 1276, third test was 1726 and now I am at 4411. How? If I was told I had a failed pregnancy was is HCG rising?
This is called a pregnancy of unknown location - not normal, but high concern for an ectopic. Hope you are getting care and if not please go to the doctor or immediately to an ER if you have severe pain as this can be serious!
Could you please do a video on ovarian drilling?
Can you do a video on molar pregnancy please?
I second this!
Just experienced my 4th chemical pregnancy withe my partner. I have never had fertility issues. Is a regular gyn enough or should I seek a specialist instead?
Can chemical pregnancy also due to polyps?
I saw my baby’s heart beat at 9 weeks 1 day. Went back for my 12 week ultrasound and there was no heart beat and baby was only measuring 9 weeks and 4 days. 5-10% chance… 😞
I’m 41, I had a chemical in May, then September the October ❤️🩹 seeing a fertility doctor soon I just hope so much we can have a baby
