As someone with imaging that was unclear between uterine didelphys and bicornuate, I appreciate your empathy regarding the concept of handling it before you have the heartbreak. I am just about to TTC and have been mentally preparing myself for the challenges that could be ahead.

I had 2 failed FETs with euploid embryos. After the 2nd the Dr did a surgical Hysteroscopy and found a small uterine septum. Once this was fixed the 3rd took perfectly and gave me a daughter! No other testing showed the septum. I’m so thankful he suggested surgery!

Amanda how small was your septum. Ive got a 2 cm septum and have had 3 chemicals all from frozen transfer but my FS doesnt think this is playing any oart in failures.

@@jessicaharrison4099I honestly don’t remember how small it was. My Dr couldn’t say that’s what caused the failures but I think it’s strange that the next one worked. If I were you I would insist that it is fixed or find a new Dr who will take it more seriously.

Great video, I was told for years I had a bicornuate uterus…then after multiple losses I was told it’s a Septate uterus.
I suffer with secondary infertility loss, I’ve early losses but I managed to carry my daughter until nearly 5 months then her heart stopped with no signs of miscarriage and had to go in to be induced so that I’m a way also gave me hope that I could carry as the septate didn’t cause the loss they said. last year I was told to get it removed and I just felt like that was a delay as they mentioned I’d have to recover for 6 months…and it felt too overwhelming at the time. however it’s been a year since then and I still don’t have a living baby. I had my son 18 years ago, and kept trying to be hopeful that’s I’d be able to have another one. But after watching this I think I may have to query the septate being removed. 🙏🏼🙏🏼 thank you xxx

I am so glad and emotional i found this video. I recently went through an Ectopic pregnancy. Up to this date im not clear wether was ectopic or miscarrage since i bleed for so many days( heavy bleeding). at the hospital they diagnosed me with Ectopic pregnancy. Soon after getting a Laparoscopy done i was told i have a Uterine Septum, now waiting for surgery.
Waiting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I've been diagnosed with pcos in august of this year after starting my ttc journey. As if that wasn't enough, I've also been told I have a septate uterus and synechias. This has been a rollercoaster and it's just been hard grieving the idea that I won't be able to conceive naturally or might potentially suffer miscarriages due to a birth "defect".

This video has been incredibly informative! My doctor is still investigating whether my septum is significant enough to have it resectioned. one 3D scan showed to be around 2cm about 6months ago, but more recently it's shown as 1cm on an internal ultrasound. It's likely I will need another 3D scan or MRI to establish the size. But in preparation for a potential septum resection, she had mentioned that she would use a copper coil to stop it from re-fusing for 2-3 months while it heals. She didn't mention anything about a balloon to keep the space. Do I really need the copper coil? Should I be asking for an alternative option? Have I potentially misunderstood something? We haven't finalised that I need the procedure yet so it was just a discussion on a potential resolution. Thank you!

This is really helpful as it’s something I’m investigating too. I’ve had all missed miscarriages and it took weeks for the bleeding to start naturally, so it appears the embryos were pretty tenaciously attached though they had stopped growing. Can this be a compatible situation with a septum?

This has been excellent! I tried to convince for 10 months, had my first positive pregnancy test and ultrasound at 8 weeks (currently almost 14) where I found out once I read my formal ultrasound report that I have a uterine septal defect! Definitely looking into repair options post baby since we are wanting a second or third.

Somewhat unrelated question- you talk about scar tissue... I've been suspecting I have Asherman's after my 19 week D&C (first/only D&C) in February. Period went from 7 days (heavy, gradually decreasing) to three day of normal bleeding, followed be a week of spotting, with random gushes mainly only when my uterus contracts or I have a coughing fit (currently dealing with post-flu cough). My doctor won't check for it, citing it is really rare, thinking it's hormonal - also saying she's never seen a single case in her 16 years experience. My question is: How common is scar tissue/Asherman's? I've been trying to advocate for myself as my doctor keeps pushing it off...but struggling to find concrete fact-based literature on the subject. Concerned I'm self-diagnosing myself based on fear and Dr. Google.

i've had a MC in 2010, fell pregnant again in 2014 and my MA was picked up at 5w early scan. Carried to 39w and she was full breach. initially told it UD. then in 2016 fell pregnant twice in each uterus with 5days gestational difference. lost one in left horn but carried to 38w. I struggle to concieve. I ovulate on different days for each side it can be 5days difference every 2-3 months. it can be infuriating! I have only had success with duel hormone ovulation tests taken across an entire year. I was in my mid to late twenties when I concieved my two kids. ttc again at almost 37 so hoping for success in the next couple years despite knowing it is going to be much harder this time.

My question is irrelevant to today's topic,my apologies for that.. I was 7days post ovulation yesterday (28th) I really had the right since of what my be implantation. The crap on my left sided type my back in pain and my Brest very heavily and painful from day 6 after ovulation. Sadly my period stated tester day though it may be implantation bleeding but no I really bled full like normal periods till now it's clear I am not pregnant.. My question is what is the course of this becomes my period was only due in the next 5 days.. Is this miscarriage? Or implantation gone wrong? I'm so hurt right now because I was very happy that I may be finally pregnant as I've been trying for 9months now from my last miscarriage.. please advise..

I have been to a waterscan, 3D ultrasound and they couldnt see the septum. But when I had a hysteroskopi they saw it. I had a miscarriage and it didnt go well so when i had that surgery they saw the septum. Even after they saw the septum on hysteroskopi they couldnt find the septum on 3D or waterscan. I went to 3 different places. Do you know why? I have a complete septum, gonna have it removed in a few months.

@@NatalieCrawfordMD hello! Thank you so much for this video.
37, almost 38. I had a uterine septum resection in August. Extended to my cervix apparently but most not even seen in saline ultrasound. Fertility doctor said he was only able to resect 70% before surgery had to be stopped due to fluid safety limit.
He didn’t use anything to prevent scarrring. When I asked why in f/u he said I already produce sufficient estrogen and balloons and other devices introduce infection risk. Fertility MD said to try and come back if no luck.
Last 2 cycles we’ve tried our luck with conception. I KNOW my body is trying. Have felt pregnant but period always comes. Concerned that there may be scarring or not enough of the septum was resected. Concerned I may need another resection procedure, but since he doesn’t seem all that concerned with scarring, I’m nervous about moving forward.
Do you have any suggestions about what I should do next and when? Is there a way to confirm whether scar tissue is present?
