My favorite thing you said, and say often... "TRY THIS OUT. It ain't about me catching fish, it's about you knowing how to catch fish".
Thanks for the great videos and info
I remember watching when I was 14. I am almost 23 now and still watch your videos. Not as often as I like I sometimes forget to click on them but I remember fishing ponds growing up an your videos are what helped me to just get bit. Now my knowledge has grown I do alot of offshore fishing an have my own bass boat an my passion for bass fishing has grown tremendous! By the way the fluke was my confidence bait when I watched your double fluke rig for those spotted bass thats when I started throwing it!
Most helpful fishing channel on UA-cam! Thank you for everything gene.
I was just doing this with a finesse worm yesterday, it works wonders on pond bass
Reminds me of the pre-rigged plastic 🪱s you can by at bait/tackle shops. Used to fish those alot as a kid. Caught me bass. Thanks for videos!
Love this technique. This, the weightless senko and wacky rig are 3 of my go to rigs right now. I’ve been throwing pink and white trick worms as well and they have been eating them up! Gotta get me some of those yellow ones for sure. Great video man!
You read my mind Gene! I was just thinking of you the other day as I wanted to brush up my floating water setup and technique, as the largies are just getting onto bedding here in CT. And of course your passion for teaching results in our passion to learn! Ther beard looks good on you - gonna get hot before you know it! Thanks for a nice presentation!
I really like videos like that when you actually talk about how to fish it keep up the good work
Love the way you teach techniques and lures.
Awesome video as always Gene! I love fishing this way, and when I can’t get bigger bites I switch it up to a Zoom Magnum Finesse worm. Absolutely dynamite!!
I have learned so much about fishing by watching your videos over the last year. Tried the floating worm this weekend and never had so much success and fun out on the lake. Keep pushing out these amazing videos!
Glad to help
I’ve seen several of these floating worm vids
They’re one of the most entertaining to watch
I've been fishing weightless Ocho just like this lately, and it gets results, but I think I'm going to give this way a try just to see what happens. Thanks for the tip, Gene!
I consider this my most productive rig. I've been experimenting with a floating worm + donkey rig. Instead of using flukes (typical donkey rig) I double up on the floating worm. It's a very finesse presentation on the clear water lakes I fish. White or baby Bass trick worms get eaten the most.
Yes
I just am totally happy watching you gene
Excellent advice! Hope to be able to use your wisdom soon!
Love the videos, keep them coming! Thanks for sharing!
Brother you make the best videos out there,,whether it be about the Tx rig or Kayaking,, Your attention to details are spot on !!
Very informative, and great camera work. Thanks for posting this!
Learnt this technique back in the 1990s watching Roland Martin on tv... he called it "the bubble gum worm technique" & I have been using bubble gum-colored Zoom Trick worms ever since. Got some in my box right now.
This is my spring confidence bait. Most time rigged wacky but work very slowly but either way is killer
Great video .thank you for always explaining your methods to us.
Great video Gene! I think for some and myself this would be cool to see the action in a pool or clear water to get a feel or visual of the action.
Thanks for the great video I love to fish the floating worm I rig mine a bit different I rig the flat side it helps it fall slower
Awesome video Brother. I definitely struggle with this because I wanna Power fish. Love these types of instructional videos
Great info as always!
that trick with a coat hanger as a nail weight is great! I would've never thought of that
Great tips and great video thank you
Love the instructional videos gene
Great content. I love to use the Bubble gum trick worm around lily pads. I've have great luck in South Georgia with that setup.
Thank you for a great informative video. I learned more than I knew!
Videos like these are your strong suit gene. Keep making them!!
H
Excellent video. Thanks for the help.
Best of luck.
Good video Gene, thanks
As always an awesome video!
Thanks for info ...fishing my first kayak tournament this Saturday. Drop shot going to be first choice , new lake . Your info great help . Set the hook brother
Just this morning I nailed 2 nice largemouth using a BLACK trick worm, my favorite color. I use it all year long with great luck here in Daytona Beach Fla.
I've fished a Merthiolate worm at lake Balcksheir, Ga for about two years. No matter where I go now I use some sort of bright zoom trick worm, whether it's bubble gum, Merthiolate, or lime they all work. But there is just something special with the Mertiolate floating worm. It seems to stick out so much better in murky water, and clear water. Hope this helps.
That looks like a fun rig, thanks for the info...
Thanks for the tip good video greetings from México 🇲🇽🎣🙏🏻
Another great video buddy Clark Hill missing you LOL God bless be safe and keep fishing
First rigged I ever used for bass back when I first started. Over the years, I have forgotten about it because of new baits, lures, and techniques.
Awesome video!!
I found floating worms last summer in Cabela's and it quickly became one of my favorite things to throw. (Probably cause I also like to throw weightless Texas rigs) LOL
Great job on the video!
Old school trick worms are the bomb!
The past couple of seasons I accidentally come to learn about the Zoom Floating Worm. My favorite colors are Black & White or the Creme Scoundrel Black with White Dots. Which is Worm that got me stared in this style of bait. However the Creme Scoundrel is near impossible to find in my area. I had one worm left and brought it into my local sporting good store and he pointed me to this Zoom Worm. Well isn’t a great worm. I just use a 3 or 4/0 worm hook or a EWG. Great technique.
Awesome stuff bro. Zman makes a worm that floats a 3/0 wide gap with 40 lb braid by the way. Keep up the good work!
Never tried this technique thanks Gene
I use a finesse wide gap size 1 hook, it floats for me many fish on it
Thumbs up in the first 60 seconds for that explanation
Do you have a video on what different gear ratios mean on reels and when to use them?
Thanks Gene! Definitely gona try those 2 colors. Question, Should I incorporate a barrel swivel when im fishing a stick worm?
And question 2 will the weight of the coat hanger wire affect the action if the tail on a trick or floating worm ?
A lot of people don’t rig the worm straight. They put a bend in it so that it kind of swirls in the water, which the barrel swivel lets it do that
Went out and got the biggest swivels I could find and set it up like you showed. After losing almost an entire spool of braid to line twist, the difference is astounding, gets bit but there's way less down time untwisting or cutting line. Thanks
Maybe we should start a campaign to get Zoom to make that yellow lizard. Me
I saw some in a gas station in the middle of nowhere Alabama
Yellow zoom trick worm is my go to when all else fails.
I watched the whole video and waiting for a fish on, it did not happen, but I have learned a lot to help myself to get a fish on,
Yep, the fish weren't having it that day. In fact that probably wasn't the best lake to film that on. It such an off shore deeper lake, but it didn't think of that until I finished the video.
I use 1/16 tungsten, Texas rig
My brother Dennis Neal turned Ed Chambers owner of Zoom Trick Worm in the late 70's. He didn't invent the floating Worm but he invented the Trick Worm.
I've been fishing this for a long time and didn't know it was a thing other people did. I just called it a weightless worm.
I would like to hear more of your music
10 thumbs up! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Man thank you for sharing these tricks. I put this on and caught several fish where I couldn't catch them before. I would really like to be able the pitch and flip this on a baitcaster. Is that doable? I was looking at getting the Piscifun Spark Pro cause that's my max budget really.
Please fill me in on the best flurocarbon line on a spinning rod for fishing texas rig or anything really ...what brand of floro is the best for less ..line twists ..
How do you like that tour pro
I really like this I think i would try 2 hook points
No floating worm? Take a long syringe and push air from the bottom to the middle-top of the worm. Then pinch it (to prevent the air from escaping) as you slowly eject the syringe. You can also seal the exit point with a lighter.
That intro spoke to me so hard
What is your favorite hook for worm fishing... Offset or EWG... 3/0, 4/0, 5/0???
small weighted hook ok?
“Honestly, I got no clue”😂😂
Thank you for talking in favor of the fish 🙂
I'm not sure if you've done it, but could you explain the point of a liter?
Hey guys I’m new to fishing I have a 6 foot 6 inch medium heavy fast action bait caster. I also have a back pack with a 3600 size tackle box with soft plastics and hooks. I have a 3700 size box with jigs with hard plastics. Any tips for what I should do next I only bank fish any tips would help.
I can make you a floating worm, easy game. Use Dead On Plastics feather blend.
You look just like buddy brown but a better fisherman 😂
I put one on with just a hook, it floated?
Just me but i like mono instead of braid and i definitely dont like a barrel swivel in the mix
What are your thoughts on the black omeon 2 heavy for a frog rod
I don't have that one. I have the Fate Black Frog rod and it's a great flipping rod as well.
Been looking into the fate black for that exact thing, I have a heavy fate v3 but it’s a tad long for what I’m lookin for lol
Gene…how important is the Swivel with this setup.?
Do you ever fish semi natural colored baits? Like Sprayed grass or Something
Edit: why use an EWG and rig the worm straight as opposed to with a kink in it? Just curious
why do you need a swivel? what is the main issue if we directly tie the worm lure to the hook without swivel?
because the swivel has tendency to prevent your line from being tangled up i know from years of exsperience epsecially cause i use the interchangebale swivels they prevented my line from getting tangled up and have helped me catch more fish then i can count. the swivel also helps you have a spinning action in the water which in turn puts off vibration which makes the fish find it better.
I just want to know how you get your baitcaster set up to cast it?
Go to his channel and search through his videos or type in "how to cast a baitcaster" on UA-cam
The key to casting it is probably that big honkin' swivel. He does go over adjusting the reel for it.
Damn I'm early.
Yep
I live on Toledo Bend and fish the floating worm often. My question is why the barrel swivel?
It prevents the twist and adds just a little weight so you can work it fast without it breaking the surface
I heard that in your video right after I asked.
I heard that in your video right after I asked.
I've used rage craw with no weight an it floated.
hey joe question. does the rage craw really smell like coffee??? i ask because i heard it smells like coffee and i have seen the coffe logo on the package makes me contemplate that the rage craw has coffee sent.
I always have good luck with” white” when the sun is on the water
Yup, nothing like sticking it in the meaty part of the tail
The largest bass I’ve ever seen was caught on a pumpkin trick worm.
I do not personally believe there is any other lure on the market today that is More Versicle, Caught More Fish, won More Tournaments, or Created More Priceless Memories than a Soft Plastic Worm...
I agree 💯
I rather rig mine wacky style with octo 1 ot hook and no leader on spinning rod
What about fishing it in the kayak instead of a bass boat where you are sitting down
Looks like you're working that worm WAY too fast. Regardless of the water temp, bass seem to respond better to a slower retrieve of the "floating" worm.
Get a cheap lizard mold melt you some of the yellow worms in microwave pour in your mold..
You need a 4/0…..umm this one a 3/0….it don’t matter anyway 😂😂😂
So this is basically like fishing a fluke but instead of a fluke, it's a worm?
I’ve never even heard of a floating worm lol
I personally wouldn’t use any weights within the fish. Lead is toxic, and stuff like steel don’t rust as good
dude i use lead weights all the time and i have never once have ever had a problem. im not bad mouthing what youre saying here by no means im js and exspressing that i have never had once a problem with lead weights , they make tungston weights but i but prefer lead weights. makes my life much easier
