A coworker told me ( and so glad he did! ) of the New River Gorge bridge on a holiday trip to family in Cleveland. That visit i took the tour under the bridge and following 3 years spent hiking and exploring old coal mining operations and whitewater rafting on the Lower Gauley. West Virginia is a real gem! 🥰
Wow! Great recommendations! As a lifelong resident of 42 years in West Virginia, I'd agree these are great must see places. Of course you can't touch on ALL the wonders of our state as there is so much to offer. We even have the greenbrier resort! Hehe. So glad you liked our state and hospitality!!! Oh, the "Red Robin is our state bird, The Cardinal, which the make is bright red and the female is a brownish, light red.
Thank you for the kind words and appreciation of our Wonderful State! I'm glad you felt welcomed because you are! We love our visitors! Y'all come back now, hear!
Great video on our beautiful state. At 5:41 those rock formations on the left in the mountains I think are Nelson rock which you can climb “via ferrata”, hooked to a cable. Done it three times and it’s a great thrill!
Great video. I love west Virginia, it's like a hidden mysterious state thanks for sharing. I wanna go again and visit some places especially Audra park and the asylum since I live in Maryland.
Lifelong resident of 53 years, glad that you enjoyed our state. If you visit again I highly suggest heading back into the Monongahela (Mononga-hela) national forest and specifically the Cranberry Glades board walk and as a must a drive along WV state route 150 (Highland scenic Highway). Also in the area is Snowshoe resort which offers many amenities for your visit.
Your video is fabulous! As a new West Virginia resident, it gives me some good tips on places to definitely visit on future trips around my "adopted" state, a place which I have come to cherish with the same affection and zeal you expressed in your presentation. Come on back soon, y'all, we'll be waitin' up fer ya!🤩😇
Thanks for this great video. I'm from VA and we usually go south for vacations. But WV is on our list of places to visit next. I have been to Harpers Ferry, and it was beautiful. Planning to go to the New River Gorge this fall. My wife will not go to the Allegheny Lunatic asylum..lol...There was a show on Discovery Channel, Expedition X, and they went there for a night visit. I'll pass on that one. Hope to see WV soon.
Well done informative content as always Ashley! I've spent a bit of time in Wild Wonderful West Virginia. It is truly a beautiful jem to explore. Thank you for providing this wonderful glimpse for all of us to enjoy. Best Always.....Bob V
Appalachia and certainly WV is very beautiful. I haven't visited any of the places in your video but would like to. I wasn't aware of the new national park. The local eats looked interesting that you showed.
Wonderful video of my home state! Next time you come to see us, I suggest Cranberry Glades and Cass Railroad in Pocahontas County and Blackwater Falls in Tucker County.
If you ever go again, eat at the rail yard in bluefeild. The food is amazing and the people are just as amazing. We found it on our trip there and can't wait to go back.
@@akfasso sorry, I didn’t read the other comments until after I said that🤦♂️. Very glad you enjoyed our state, I’m going to try to make a trip to Audra in the coming weeks, it looks really beautiful there.
Is it safe for Hispanics? I’m planning on going on a weekend trip with my husband and while I’m white passing and fluent in English my hubbie is very much not. Would it be a bad idea?
I am not Hispanic, so I can’t speak from any personal experience (hopefully others can chime in), but I will say that West Virginia had some of the nicest people I’ve ever met. They were chatty and super curious to know what made us want to visit their state. They were also excited to share suggestions with us for things to see and do. Out of the areas I highlighted in this video, I never felt uncomfortable or unwelcome. Again, this is just from my personal experience as a non-Hispanic.
Michelle -- I wish I could say I did!! That was really high on my list of things I wanted to see, but unfortunately, we were in the area on our last day of travel and had quite the long drive back to Jersey. So, we had to skip it. It's #1 for me next time I'm in WV. :)
That’s a good question! We drove to West Virginia, so I don’t have any personal experience with that, but if you start in the north at Harpers Ferry and work your way down, like we did, I’m reading that Reagan National Airport (DCA) is the closest, big airport. The other large airport (Yeager Airport) is closer to where we stayed at Stonewall Resort State Park. Hope that helps!
Here is what to do if you move to WEST VIRGINIA # 1, you'll stay poor ,,, # you'll never get ahead in all your needs ,,, NO GOOD PAYING JOBS ,,, PEOPLE HERE FIGHT AND MAKE TRUBLE FOR YOU WERE EVER YOU GO ,,,, THERE MEEN ,, RUD ,, HEATFULL ,,, AND THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS IT USED TO BE AS IN NEIGHBOR HELPING NEIGHBOR NO MORE ,,, SO IF YOU WANT TRUBLE IN YOUR LIFE THE COME ON MOVE HERE TO WEST VIRGINIA,,, IAM LEVEING THIS PITIFUL STATE ,,,,

The bird that landed near your picnic with the locally-made donuts is a Cardinal. Our state bird.
Yup! A few people have pointed that out to us. Now we know! It was a beautiful bird. :)
Some call Cardinals "red robins" colloquilly but there's an actual bird named that as well.
It’s a boring bird

That's my favorite place in WV. Love riding the motorcycle down and back up.
Wow! I hope to get back to that area someday soon to explore more!

I have heard about the via ferrata! I would absolutely love to come back and try it out. Sounds like my kind of day. :) Thanks for watching!
As an old WV mountaineer myself, i approve this message. 👍👍
Then making this video was well worth it. ;)
The is one of the best video about WV!
Thank you!

3:42 that's a cardinal 😊. Love the video thank you!
I really enjoyed your narration and video on West Virginia! Really nice the way you put the video together!
Thank you!
I'm planning a roadtrip out in about a year and this great reference to start out with, thanks much!
Welcome! Where are ya traveling to/through?
I went to college close to Audra. Thanks for trip down memory lane. I had a lot of fun there.

Enjoyed the video. Gave us some ideas for the next time we travel through WV.

Love living here, love the people.

Hope you get an opportunity to visit some of the places featured here. I’m eager to get back to WV!
Another great one, Thanks, Stay Safe 👍👍💖
Thanks for watching, Doc!

I will add it to the list! I do hope to return again. I had a wonderful time. :)
Thanks for the video, great review
Wow! Thank you! This was sooo helpful in planning our upcoming trip.
I love hearing this! Thanks for the comment and enjoy your trip!

I’ll look into it!
The cardinal was always said to be a lost loved one visiting you. Our state bird. ❤️
West Virginia americas best kept secret it’s beautiful
I certainly agree!
Excellent I can't wait ☺️.
Have you been to West Virginia or are you planning an upcoming trip? I would love to hear about it!
I'm planning to go with family ending month of March, i hope we will have good weather.
I live in West Virginia and it’s the best kept secret, greatest state!!!!
So helpful thank you 😊
Thank you for sharing! Very informative!
My pleasure! Thanks for watching. :)
Glad you had fun! I’m from Southern WV
I can’t wait to come back! Such a beautiful state with wonderful people.
Cass Scenic Railroad is the best place..or Spruce Knob
Thanks for the recommendations!
Dang it no filming on the paranormal tours? I am doing one on 6/7 from 10:30 PM to 12:30 AM. Was really hoping to get some good videos lol
I step in West Virginia in 19 75 and I love it here in hard country
If you looking for a thrill the new river gorge bridge has a day for bungee and base jumping
Thanks for the suggestion! Admittedly, the idea of bungee or base jumping terrifies me, but I’ll gladly go photograph others enjoying it! :)
So beautiful out there 😍
Nice video.
You forgot Greenbank Observatory, The Cass Railroad, Point Pleasant (home of the Mothman), Philippi, and places in the northern panhandle.
Thanks for the recommendations! I’ll have to check those out next time I’m in the area. :)
Red bird was our West Virginia state bird the cardinal 🙂🙃🙂🙃
Nice video
Thank you!
As a West Virginian, I must mention that was a cardinal (WV’s state bird!) at the 3:55 mark. Not a Red Robin.
Yup! Several people have pointed that out to us now. 😂 We clearly need to do our homework on birds. Absolutely love the sound it makes. :)
@@akfasso sorry, I didn’t read the other comments until after I said that🤦♂️. Very glad you enjoyed our state, I’m going to try to make a trip to Audra in the coming weeks, it looks really beautiful there.
Haha don’t apologize! I appreciate the info! Enjoy Audra. We had a wonderful time there.

Please please please tell me you went to Dolly Sods.....you were soooo close

“Red robin” 😂
What is the best airport to fly into in order to get to most of these attractions? Thank you

What can tell me about hacker valley WV???
Not much at all! I didn’t have an opportunity to visit that area.
Where's the donut place at
51 N Locust St, Buckhannon, WV 26201
That was not a red robin; it was indeed the official WV State Bird - The Cardinal.
We had donuts on the brain. ;) Yes. Thank you for the correction! Wildlife is not our speciality, but boy was it a beautiful bird to see!
👌👌🌲🌲👍🚙💕
Mothman gonna *_git_* you for ignoring Point Pleasant!
Next time!
Red robin? Lol...try a cardinal...
Who flips a burger with the cheese on it??
It was mustard.
LOL tudors you are defintley not from round here.
I am definitely not from there. :) Where would you recommend I get a quality biscuit next time I’m in town?
@@akfasso good question my wife makes our biscuits. I will let you know when and if I find one.
We're the ghosts gonna give you COVID? Good grief!!
Why you ruined your video with this unpleasant hard to understand voice?
That is a cardinal , before you sound like a yuppie and make a video of commercial attractions, do some research so you do not offend the locals.
Boring
