Quite simply one of the best metal detecting channels on UA-cam. The cinematography is brilliant and as for the finds, they speak for themselves. Well done. Cheers from Hampshire in England.
Every time I see a Mark coin I think of my childhood stay in Karlsruhe from 1960-63. I loved castles and knights back in those days and for Christmas my parents bought me a wooden castle with like a paper laminate on it to make it look like it was built of real stone. I suppose it was around HO scale. Afterwards when we occasionally were shopping in town they would give me a Mark to go to the fabulous German toy store where I would pick out a miniature hand painted Knight, some on horseback like they were jousting, to add to my castle. The castle and Knights were gifted to someone else when my Dad got transferred and we moved back to the States. The Army had a weight allowance on how much stuff they would move to a new base for you. Later on in 1973 when I had just turned 19 I backpacked in Europe for three months staying in youth hostels or real cheap pensions...or camped out. I came back with small coin change form every country I visited from Sweden down to Greece and Turkey. I have to say I was saddened when the ugly Euro became the coin of the EU. If I am not mistaken I think the only places I visited besides Turkey, and maybe the UK, have all switched to using Euros. The individual country coins were so much more interesting. Thanks for sharing Hans.
Hi Greg. I really enjoyed your story! Even more so because it's similar to mine. When I was 20 (in 1974) I had a long journey through many European countries and still today, in a glass jar, I keep a small collection of coins got in those different countries. However, euros still have a small trace of their path! Banknotes are the same in all euro area countries, but coins have one common side and one country-specific side. However, since here euro is the common currency for the last 20 years and more, you'll find all kinds of them in every country you might visit. Have a nice day :)
@@squittymouse I especially liked the small denomination Greek coins with the hole in the middle. Ended up combining some of them with the three (not the reproduced ones) real Venetian trade beads I acquired and strung them on a leather cord for a necklace....yes...I was a long haired hippie back then!! Now I'm bald and overweight!....But still vertical my friend!...so I got that going for me LOL
thank you for sharing your story. I have a sentimental relation to the DM as well. I remember my first pocket money and what I could buy from it. especially in times of inflation I'm astonished how strong the DM was. thank you for watching my friend!
Awesome find. Your effort of driving back home to take the camera shows your commitment and how much you put your heart in your search for the buried past. Thanks.
@@bolinfan1519 thanks for providing context, as Jablicka mentioned the likely time of it being lost is known, in Australia at least, for being incredibly tough with economic depression. Not knowing the economics of Germany at the time I over estimated the value. Aside from that I would be gutted to lose my wallet which was a gift from my late mother, so hopefully not too much sentimental value lost by the owner too.
So awesome to find something like that from that time period....imagine all the things that have happened in history since it was lost and found.....so cool👍👍👍
Great finds! I have to reflect on how this woman, or man, lost their coins! Were they being chased? Running for their life? Perhaps a child, entrusted with "grocery" money. On the way home from the market, spotting a frog along the path, or perhaps picking some flowers for their mom, and lost track of the purse. Yeah I'll go with that thought. Anything else would be too chilling! Thank you for bringing us back with you!
Awesome Find & So Lovely to see the purse as you found it in the ground. Also the footage of the little bird in the hollow of tree was a delight to see...Thank You Hans 🌳💚
An amazing once in a lifetime find Hans, thanks for sharing, was worth all the hassle. I love those old silver pre war German coins, my daughter purchased a silver one Reich mark coin for me on one of her visits to a Frankfurt coin show, hope to get some more of these old coins soon, love them. Can't stop wondering who lost the precious purse, a child perhaps.
Great find. First law of metal detecting is when you least expect it and are least prepared you unearth that once in a life time find. Glad you drove home to get your camera.
A hoard! What a great find Hans. Always love watching your peaceful, nature-paced videos. Are you going to to go back to "the hole" where you put your camera down a mysterious shaft and there was some tunnel? We would love to see what that was all about. Thanks Hans.
I *did* enjoy this video, so thank you sincerely for taking the trouble to fetch your camera, to film the reveal, and to share it with us. What a lovely find. So intriguing to wonder whether that was a huge loss for someone, or perhaps not such a big deal, and what circumstances caused a whole purse to be lost in such a way... so many questions that can never be answered (o:
Another beautiful video! Finding a coin purse with the coins still inside is amazing. There was a world wide depression in the 1930's, that was a lot of money. It's tragic that they lost it, but wonderful that you found it and shared it with us!
What a really awesome and brilliant find Hans,I have been a metal detecting in England for many years since the 1970s and have only found two purses congratulations
A rare find indeed Hans! Thank you for the video documentation. The trail you've been following, is beautiful. I look forward to all your future uploads. Stay safe, HH & GL.
Hans, you did an excellent 'reveal'. I have been detecting in the US since 2013 and have found three cloth coin purses over the years and two notable loose coin spills. It is always a great surprise and at the same time bittersweet knowing that someone lost their coins.
Great finds Hans. I have found several pieces of coin purses but only one complete one. It was where an old saloon had burnt and I guess, the way the silver coins looked, so had the coin purse. There were 6 coins, all from the 1890s
Just wonderful Hans!!! It's a sign of finds to come I'm sure! Congratulations on a great video! I am happy you went back for your camera so we could enjoy the extraction!!!🥰🎉
Lovely lovely place! The sweet find of the purse & coins aside, I would have been so happy just to settle down under a tree with a little lunch and watch the wildlife all day, and maybe take a little nap. :)
Excellent video as usual Hans. Great that you drove those kms to share the moment with us. Again, as if I was there, crouched and staring as you revealed. Thanks for sharing.
Taikuu Hans, for going the extra kilometers to share with us the finding of your horde! You Sir, are a one of a kind! Oh and I loved the little bird in the nest.. 👍👍
Your drive to get your camera was well worth it Hans, to share the moment you found the coins and what they were was wonderful sweetheart. The coins are in amazing condition considering they have lain under the leaf litter for over 90 years. I'm thrilled for you finding a purse with coins in it, though I'm sad for the lady who lost it too. The nature shots as always were superb and the bird in its nest was a great shot, before it flew away lol. Take care and stay safe please my friend God bless you love and hugs Mary-Ellen UK
I'm glad you like my new video, mary-ellen :) thank you for staying tuned and for commenting so nicely! It took almost 20 minutes until I had the footage of the little tit..I saw that it was nesting in the hole but it took such a long time for it to come out again. take care too my friend and all the best to you and yours! big hug, hans
You have to wonder what the person was thinking at the time they lost it. Just before such a big change in history. Great find and video as always. I think that is a big part of the fun of detecting.

Thank you Hans, how exciting unearthing a purse with coins intact, its surprising how1 the owner didn't realise their loss. So pleased that you went to collect the camera, if you had decided not to then we would have missed the final discovery. I enjoy your detecting videos, the filming is excellent (good to see the odd wildlife) and the careful explaining each discovery is most helpful.
Glückwunsch Hans! It was worth to drive the km to film it, thank you. I just returned from my latest trip to London, mudlarking everyday and made some pretty finds too.
How fantastic. I can just imagine that lady that dropped this purse and her consternation over having done so. LOL Thank you for the exquisite video too, they always brighten my day! Hi! from San Diego, CA, USA. :)
Superb, I was trying peer over the top of your hand whilst you were pulling out the coins. Your excitement is contagious. Thank you for saving that find for us and going the extra 60 kms
Great find, great video, the enthusiasm you have just pours through the screen towards your viewers making us feel like we are there finding the treasure with you, you should honestly have your own tv show 👍
It’s an excitement to find an old purse with coin. In the past I found a hoard of hammered coins of the reign of Edward I & II, Henry V & VI came out from the same hike. Presumably it was a lost purse too. A video is out in my channel to illustrate that day. And Recently I found some Roman coins from the same spot. They are currently being checked by the FLO. I will publish a video soon. Thanks for sharing, Hans. All the best.

Not just fascinating finds but beautiful nature too. Thank you.
Congratulations on your beautiful finds and what a beautiful environment Greetings from Holland
Awesome find. Your effort of driving back home to take the camera shows your commitment and how much you put your heart in your search for the buried past. Thanks.
Whomever the purse belonged to must have been devastated losing it. What a great find. Thanks for sharing Hans.
I was thinking the same thing - it was a bad time to have money go missing.
In 1930, this amount of money would have bought a coupla' pounds of stew beef to go into a pot of German gulasch. Not the end of the world.

This may be lewd, but I always like to imagine couples so enthralled in passion that they forget their belongings afterwards.
I agree..I hope it wasn't a child who lost it. thank you for watching!
Thanks for going the extra miles so to say. To share that wonderful find with us.
