  • This belongs to a lady who lives on a farm, and it needs perking up a bit. Not a full refurb, but what could I do for £35? Well, let's try and turn some profit by getting this old girl working well the cheap way, with a bit of graft and the minimum of new parts!

    The problem is these use a plastic that overtime reacts with UV and becomes EXTREMELY brittle. This is literally just pop it in your collection and leave it on your shelf type of Dyson. Not daily use.

    With that sticker arrangement on the bin it’s a late malmesbury machine produced between 2000-02. The ones that have no sticker at all on the bin and a black helpline sticker similar to the 07s and 14s are Malaysia ones.

      @jayambermsp8000 Рік тому +1

      Not to forget that the Malaysian ones have the design award on the bin.

    I’ve picked up a DC04 too at the car booty for £8. For the blower, I use a sidewinder mattress air pump.
    Good video!👍

    I'd have gone for brush bearings at the same time and really pushed the boat out! (627rs size) They eventually dry out and stiffen a little which ends up causing early belt stretching and eventual screeching and smells of burning rubber. a cheap set is around 4 quid and would easily last about 5 yrs. I really miss my original first gen dc01 but when we got a 4 for free we thought it would be easier to get spares for longer

    It can fit clutched hoses, the only thing is then the unclutched wand won't click on at the end for above the floor cleaning :)

    Very useful video, thanks. I'm struggling to get the green 'cone' out of the dust collection cylinder. I don't want to force it, yours popped out real easy?

      My home made blower! It's a 1950s paint sprayer with a 1400w Dyson motor fitted, which is why it makes such a racket as the airflow pushes past the original seals 😂

    That's not a DC04i. DC04i was blue and silver. These were called simply Silver and Lime and was the base model. Although the DC04i was pretty much the same machine but with a hepa filter. Nice video and job though mate.

    I hear Dyson are not allowing repairs from 3rd party engineers… will this affect you ? Parts etc?

    • @beko1987
      @beko1987  Рік тому +1

      Probably not as I buy either 3rd party copy parts or used parts. Plus parts for most of the era of Dysons I work on have been obselte for years anyway and parts are still plentiful. What's going to suck is them covering everything in epoxy and other tricks. Not had a V15 in yet but I'm not excited about it 😢
