Loved the video! You actually show the difficulty involved instead of making it look as easy as possible for more views!!!!!
Yay! Thank you!
@@TheDisgruntledMechanic I’ve been dealing with the Classic Chevy Shake on my 04 Silverado 1500 4.8 4x4 z71. Would just replacing idler and doing the pitarm a later time cause any problems? Any Recommendations?? I’ve replace CVS tie rods with ends and all four shocks!
You made it look easy Mike, but I'm sure it was a little aggravating getting up in there to bolts and nuts. And that pitman arm puller looked like it was made for just that job. Have a great Sunday!
Well a "little" editing helps! Thanks Terry.
Mike it came off better than i thought it would with all the salt and rust you have thanks.
Kroil and smacking it with air hammer helps!
@@TheDisgruntledMechanic Kroil is the best to buy, far as i know you have to order it.And they make the stuff down below where i live in Nashville Tn. thanks for the repley.
On the Pitman arm we use a cut off wheel. Just cut straight down close to the shaft then use the air hammer and pops right off.
Ya know no matter how careful I would try to be, somehow I would cut into something I was no supposed to!
Hey, Man. Long time no talk lol. The Snappy pitman puller is great on these trucks. Glad I grabbed one a few years back.
+Chuck Nix you won't believe this but just thinking about how you were doing the other day. Great to see you. And thanks!
Our little Buddy in NC would have bought the Master Pro brand . Glad to see you bought the Moog pitman arm.
Yeah I have had good luck with Moog.
Bought entire suspension and steering components from moog. Have to now put it all on!!! 2006 Duramax
You have a job ahead of you for sure.
My E34 BMW's have this setup... there's a bit of play in one of them (not sure yet which component it is) that I'm keeping my eye on.
I replaced both. More videos that way!
hey mike! nice job looks like that krown washed off but the guy did say the anti rust additives stay
Did a Krown video update.
I loosen the steering box mover a little so my puller lined up straight with the stud to pull the arm. There is just enough room to get the puller between the cross member and the tension bar on and 04 suburban I don't see the cross members on his.
How did you torque the pitman to the steering box with it in the vehicle? There is no room on a 2500 you have to remove the steering box to torque it correctly.
heys guys , the 33mm nuts ws crazy tight couldnt budge it, if you losses you steering box , you can move it back enough to get a socket with an impact
Usually can’t go wrong with Moog. Excellent job Mike! Oh and sweet purple gloves, are those only for working on GM? :)
They are no brand specific but a Honda dealer will charge you double the price for them!
Hey Mike. Good job as always!
Thank you!
Thank you MIKE
long time no see,,
Have a great day. Sir.
you too! good to see ya!
Awesome job!
TY Terry!
Great video thanks brother. Last one I pulled out was years ago. I put a new seal in the gear box on the truck. Keep up the great work see you in the next video thanks again brother.
Great information and how to video thanks brother
Thanks man!
A little rusty. Nice video Mike. That truck looks familiar .Lol
Thanks Jim. Rust makes everything more of a challenge!
I have been waiting for you to do it first :) I ordered a 3 spline was yours a 3 spline ?
yes it is. It wasn't that bad but you really need the low profile puller and to loosen the steering box when using the puller. Makes everything easier!
@@TheDisgruntledMechanic I bought the same puller. I didn't know about loosening the box bolts. Good tip Mike.👍
yep I can tell you it makes it easier!
I just had my Mechanic put a pitman arm on my 05 Chevy 2500Hd I'm putting in a Radiator and I notice I can see the threads and it don't look to safe are you supposed to be able to see those threads or is it done wrong?
Always good to have a new video from our favorite 98%er on UA-cam
why thank you!
Excellent work Mike I agree I have somebody else do it. If I work my car I will have no time to fish
good thing I dont fish!
How has the application of Krown been holding up? Nice work on the old girl. She needs you.
I will look better tomorrow when I am back underneath it. It's still rusty but it wasn't going to fix what was there! haha!
2nd Boom! Now back to the video. Nice to see you again buddy.
Thanks!
what size is the pitman arm nut? Biggest I have is a 1-1/4", and its just a bit to small. Also, what brand, model number is the puller you used? A have an OTC heavy duty one that uses two nuts and bolts to tighten the arms over the shoulder of the pitman arm, but it always just stretches the bolts out and the arms slip off the pitman arm.
im sure its too late now but i heard its a 15/16th
I believe it's a 1" 5/16th
Good video
Thanks!
What size nut is the big one?
Any advice for a installing the pitman arm...mines stuck going on. I have a big 1 5/16 wrench but even that leverage won't budge it anymore. Should I take it off and clean it better or use air impact?
Not sure if it would help or if it’s GM approved, but on the Silverado’s with press fit harmonic balancers, I have had to heat one up in the oven before to make it go on easier.
Another benefit to doing a solid axle swap, is ease of access to parts....GM's IFS JUNK is the worst thing they did to the 2500 HD and 3500 HD truck when they started the IFS JUNK back in 1988
Nice job mate
Thanks Leon!
Hey mike I’m replacing my steering box I was wondering what size wrench you used to remove the nut on the pitman arm
Will this get rid of the play?
If you are sure that is where the play is coming from it will.
The old girl is still rolling
Gotta keep the Uber ride going!
@@TheDisgruntledMechanic 🤣👊🤣
i loosen steering box maybe because dont have low profile puller nice job.
didnt watch till end but it looked like box was tight? hoolywood magic? lol
+willefixit yeah I loosened the box up in the process and did not actually film it. That is why I mentioned at end and good eye! Haha!
+willefixit and yes even with low profile puller best to loosen box.
@@TheDisgruntledMechanic ah ha!! thought there was another way, i prop up box with wood dont rember idler arm removal good vid
+willefixit thank you
👍👍
Thanks!
Either somethings broke or it's coming off lmfao
What size nut
I bought 1.25 socket and it just barely didn’t fit. I filed the sides on the nut down just slightly until it went on. I would try a 32 mm.
1st BOOM
+bodgit and leggit garage you'll be sorry! Haha!
🤣🤣🤣
