this demo means a lot to me. it was the first experience i had with pokemon, before i even really played video games i heard about this "free pokemon game" from school and had to try it. i couldnt get a real pokemon game so i always just played this one. at some point, my dad bought me omegaruby and i played most of the game with just the glalie i got from the demo, who was female and named "Franzi".
Ok this story was very charming already but "Franzi" just put it over the top in terms of adorableness.

I cannot help but admire the absolute dedication for this utterly pointless task. The grind for grinds sake. You are simply built different sir. Truly one for the books.
Edit: in the last two days I became somewhat obsessed with this video and its premise. I just love that everything in this demo basically screams: "DO NOT DO THIS, IT IS POINTLESS and dumb!" - the fact that you can't save, the fact that you can't transfer the pokemon, and for God's sake it isnt even supposed to be a visible shiny. Yet Absol the madlad didn't get deterred by all these warning signs, hell it probably even motivated him. This in my opinion is a prime display of the human spirit. Everything tells you not to attempt this nonsense, Absol embraces the nonsense of it all. I think is what Camus meant when he said that we have to imagine that Sissiphus is happy. The struggle itself toward a non-existent shiny and grinding it to level 100 with Random level 40 encounters is enough to fill a man's heart. The next time I run into an obstacle I will remember the legend of Absol who despite setting himself up for ridiculously dumb challenges still prevails and pushed onward. I was there for the last couple of levels. It's unusual for me to actually witness a Pokémon reaching its pinnacle of power live on stream.

In case you're interested, I plugged the Swampert's stat's into an IV calculator. It has 26 HP, 2 Atk, 4 Def, 18 SpA, 24 SpD, and 20 Spd.
I assumed that the EV's gained from anything other than HP from the Glalie were negligible.

Every time I see a shiny like this that "nobody would hunt normally", I think of those odds. About 1/4000 in Gen 6, yeah? Even if only like 100,000 people downloaded the demo(the full games sold like 15 million copies, so very conservative estimate assuming most people didn't know about the demo) that's still like 25 people that just naturally experienced this, at least some of whom probably knew very little about what was happening (small children, casuals etc).
Imagine having this happen and then you're left wondering the rest of the game why no other Pokemon do this cool animation when they enter battle, not even your own Marshtomp if you play the regular game lol

Great video! I have found memories of exploring this demo for what would be my favorite game to this day. Also the house at 6:32 has become a kind of local hot spot to pass by. My family are really big into Halloween and love passing by and seeing the new stuff they put up every year. Always cool to see local stuff in your videos. Also mad props for doing this kind of hunt at all, even if only for the principal. You may very well be the first person to do this. Well done!
Yeah it's one of my favorite places to bike by every year!! I also had to ride into River Ranch to see the crazy decorations there too lol

Folks have been holding back a bit since the Rona, so we should see a lot more decorations in the coming months. Very exciting stuff! The ORAS demo was a great experience all those years ago.
X was my first game, followed by Y, then I got Alpha Sapphire. I played that demo as much as I possibly could and had a great time doing it. Between this and the Sun/Moon demo, I had some really great times with Pokemon games that weren't REALLY Pokemon games. I'm kinda sad they don't do demos anymore, they were a fun early look at the games and a good way to hype them up.
You always come up with such unique ideas. Never a dull moment in this channel.

It feels so nostalgic seeing Omega Ruby and Alpha sapphire. especially the demo. The demo was the first ever pokemon game experience I ever had. I still have Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, but sadly can't play them due to my 3DS being dead (and very old. we are talking about 11 years or so!)
Hearing the music and noises from the game feels amazing. My first ever pokemon game was Omega Ruby, but the demo was the first thing I ever played over and over. Glad to see the game again in 2022.
You could really tell that those Glalie were doing wonders for your HP EV's by the end!
I am looking forward to your Prof. Oak Challenge. It's funny... I remember more with the demo than the full game that came later. I appreciate the level of care put into making these videos so entertaining and informative. Even if there's naysayers you press on and do the impossible. I hope you are well. I remember playing the demo so much since I got lucky when going to a mall and they were giving out special codes for it. I was so freaking happy, and it would later make me max out the time the time in my omega Ruby 😂

I loved playing the ORAS demo. It's a shame that we'll likely never get a demo after the SuMo demo was datamimed and all the new Pokemon were leaked. Which is something that's easy to fix, remove all Pokemon data that the demo doesn't need.

I wanna see Matt do one of these in pokemon red and blue dx using thier starter in only tiny woods; u can progress enough to access to ranks but can only accept missions for tiny woods so he has a little side challenge to see how high his rank can get while only doing tiny woods missions during the gauntlet

I played the ORAS demo!! I completely forgot about it! I had only ever played mystery dungeon games it was the first time I actually played Pokémon. The only bit I actually remember was flying around on latios a lot - I think maybe that's what you could do once you'd done all the adventures or something?

Hey Absol have you ever considered doing the Pomegberry battle tower hunt in Emerald? Or if you just want to fight one rather than catch it you don't even have to do the Pomeg glitch, I think that'd be a really cool future hunt not too many people have managed to do one!
