Jimothy, I believe the cunning Pokémon Scraggy managed to fool you with a stealthy trick: While it is indeed catchable in the dark grass of Unova's Route 1, that dark grass can only be reached once you can use the Surf HM. With this stunt, Scraggy managed to take a spot in this list that its fellow Gen 5 dark type Purrloin (catchable on the first route of BW2) might have had a stronger claim for. An unfortunate side effect is that Jumpluff, a very hard-working Pokémon, was denied a place in the Top10 by Scraggy's schemes, which could have devastating effects on its morale. I advise anybody to subscribe to Jimothy Cool, as I'm sure Jumpluff would be thrilled to see its Johto friend Furret collaborate with Mr Cool. Thank you.
Audino is actually in a similar situation, though less egregious - while available in rustling grass on route 1, the grass won't actually ever rustle until after getting the first gym badge (and maybe getting a tutorial, I don't remember exactly)so it's not available until a little further in the game

Seems I was forced to click on this video as well out of spite towards the low ranking of Furret. Something tells me this won’t be the last we hear of this folks.
Something I didn't see mentioned about Furret is that it got Tidy Up in Gen 9 Essentially Dragon Dance but it clears any Hazards and Substitutes on the field. Of course, powercreep means Furret isn't the best with the tool, but at least Furret got something that'll let it achieve value when the stars align.

@@jimothycoolscraggy/scrafty also shouldn't count -- it is on route one in BW, but only in a double grass region you can't reach until you have surf, so it's found at levels 33-35
I once named a Thievul Fox McKlaut, a pun on the famous Star Fox pilot and on the german word "klaut", which translates to "steals". Explaining it doesn't make it any funnier than it was to begin with, but I just wanted to mention how proud I was to come up with such a stupid nickname for such a stupid looking Pokémon. Thank you for listening to my Ted Talk.
Lokix is missing for generation 9 as you can find him on the first route, just before paldean wooper. And it is a very good pokemon being at the top of UU. Tinted lense and just the exact offensive movepool needed to be excellent. It's one of these bug types that shines imo, even with very poor stats distribution.
Omg that's me at 2:25! I'm so honored to be a part of this amazing documentary, specially in regards when talking of modest bug of ZU, Dustox. Excellent vid Jim, not mentioning Tidy Up is a bit of a disservice for our great fellow Furret though
5:17 Ok hear me out. Dubwool is a really important member of a baton pass team in AG. It has access to cotton guard, fluffy lets it wall any physical attacker (Zacian C primarily), and body press gives it taunt resistance. Don't sleep on Big Dub
I don't believe it would be OU with Moody, the ability is banned not because it's absolutely broken, but because it is simply uncompetitive and unfun to play against. One game you'll get lucky and sweep instantly and next you'll just lower your defenses in exchange for useless Special Attack (in Bibarel's case). It would not be used much because of its unreliability but a lucky player might snatch some games that they didn't deserve to win.
I gotta shout out Vikavolt, it got Sticky Web in generation 8 and got a whole new niche as a surprisingly bulky webs pivot in lower tiers. While bug/electric isn't great defensively, levitate gives it an entry point against ground types, and access to all of Webs, Volt Switch, Roost, and Energy Ball makes it able to do a lot with the turns it gets.
A lot of these pokemon are actually quite useful in Random Battles. Furret gets Tidy Up to clear hazards and level scaling means it's surprisingly fast and can hit pretty hard with Double Edge. Dubwool was also infamous for being a powerful win condition since if you kept it in "Fog of War" the opponent has no way of knowing all their physical wincons will likely be useless later. Gumshoos also hits like a truck if you are forced to switch into it.
Furret's exceptional power level led to it being banned from the second generation's PU tier. A metagame where such renowned titans of competitive as Magcargo, Hitmontop, and Murkrow still reside. Furret is clearly not a pokemon to be trifled with.
Squawkabilly is technically a route 1 Mon because you can get it above your house. With great tools like defog to clear hazards and parting shot for mobility, it also has intimidate. If you want to be more aggressive it has guts/ facade and brave bird. Overall the bird of all time

As the world's number one Furret fan, I'm extremely disappointed that you didn't mention how Furret absolutely tore up Gen 2 PU and gets Tidy Up in Gen 9.
Spidops' Insomnia ability is completely irrelevant because it also has Stakeout, one of the better abilities to have. That's why STAB U-turn and First Impression should be respected in an appropriate power level. Additionally Spidops can phaze out switch-ins with Circle Throw to rack up Spikes damage or poison enemies when Toxic Spikes are up. By the way: Those traits make Spidops a good S/A tier choice in low tier draft leagues, which are typically on a lower power level than ZU and feature a lot of NFE mons as well as some little cup mons even. Gen 9 ZU is way too overbearing of course, with ridiculously powerful mons like Vikavolt running around.
Its important to note that Moody was allowed for a while in gen 8 ubers after it no longer boosted accuracy, but umfortunatly Bibarel was not in gen8, but it would have been a great moody mon, in no small part due to beinh immune to Spectral Thief and Astral Barrage. If they ever allow moody in ubers again, expect Biberal to be there to take advantage of all the ghost types.
watchog is definitely one of the most unsettling pokemon in the entire series, it looks legitimately unhinged, like it's always only seconds away from biting someones eyes out

Pidove cant be found until after the first gym because game freak were afraid of you not using the butt-ugly elemental monkeys if you chose the water starter
Believe it or not, Dustox is also used in generation 6 ZU as a decent Defogger. Shield Dust is great when switching into Pokemon like Politoed. It can get momentum with U-Turn/disrupt opponents with Whirlwind or spread Poison with Toxic. It also loves taking advantage of specially offensive Grass-types with its decent bulk. It also held a momentary niche in ORAS PU as well. Machoke was a huge nuisance with No Guard Dynamic Punch + Eviolite bulk. Dustox could abuse the most common set for it (D-Punch/Knock Off/Rest/S-Talk) and could go for a minisweep/act as a pivot into a stronger teammate since Shield Dust blocked the confusion effect. I'd still rank it kind of low on the Route 1 tier list, but IMO, it should be higher than Oinkologne.
I do, too. Personally, I just like their clean, no-nonsense, simple design. And being able to add a diverse TM move-set is just icing on the cake. It is my favorite Pokemon.

Thievul is probably my favorite early route pokemon next to Mightyena and pretty much all the other dogs on this list (if we count galarian zigzagoon, and by extension Obstagoon, he's also SUPER up there) I used him as an Unburden Sweeper, having a previous pokemon set electric terrain so he'd get the defense boost, have him set up with nasty plot, and proceed to melt things while being faster than like everyone haha
Lokix also exists. I would put him above Staraptor and below Diggersby I think.

Vivillon is Pronounced "Vivi yon"
Thievul is probably my favorite early route pokemon next to Mightyena and pretty much all the other dogs on this list (if we count galarian zigzagoon, and by extension Obstagoon, he's also SUPER up there)
I used him as an Unburden Sweeper, having a previous pokemon set electric terrain so he'd get the defense boost, have him set up with nasty plot, and proceed to melt things while being faster than like everyone haha
YES YES DUSTOX IS NOT THE WORST
I didn’t know Scrafty was a route 1 Pokémon.
You need Surf to reach it.
Great vid
Congrats on the impending 80K
