    You are truly a teacher at heart my friend. You've never tried to sell me a thing or ask me for a dime, yet you still share your knowledge and experience with whoever is willing to listen. Stay true to yourself brother, you're a rose among thorns. By the way, I'm thinking I'm buying me a hoodie real soon. But not because you asked me too.

      Thank you very much. I really appreciate this! Means a lot. That has been the goal of Budget Lawns since day one. For almost five years now, we've stuck true to our roots and won't change. If you get a hoodie, thank you. If not, I'll still appreciate you just the same!

    Great videos. Your channel reminds me of going to AA meetings for lawns. I go to other yt channels and they say you need this and that super juice. Then come here and reminded to take it easy and don’t need all those lawn products. Thanks for saving me money. That doc almost got me a few times.

    I edged and scalped my lawn on 2-7-24. Last year it was a full month later. I`ve already gotten runners up to 4" where I edged my sidewalk and greening up nicely with no fertilizer at all in just 3 weeks. Gonna be a crazy long summer.

    Darn good video. I just laid down my preemergent and had been noticing barnyard grass already growing strong around the edges of my lawn near the driveway, house, sidewalk. Makes sense now. Next year I'm going out earlier.

    Great advice. I'm in N Texas and everyone is posting that they are scalping, some several weeks ago. I agree with you and think it's too early. I'm waiting till after our avg last frost/freeze which is March 13th. My bermuda is just starting to show that green haze. It's almost go time here, almost. Getting the pre-em down at the perfect time is a game of chess. So far, looks like I did good getting mine down 1/31/24. Normally, I don't do it until late Feb/early March, but we had an early warm up!

    Always enjoy your take on regular lawn care. Not the hyper, need every liquid juice that is available type care. I did look for the Spectracide product you like but it doesn’t seem to be available at the big box stores here in the Dallas metro right now. Went with Halts this year at the beginning of Feb. The water company had to fix a main along the back fence in November so I have some work cut out for me this spring.

      Thank you. Appreciate ya sharing that. I've heard that before from folks in Texas. Perhaps there's a law there banning its ingredients. The utility companies are always up to something. At least you've got a project to work on lol. Thanks for watching.

    I put my "2nd coat" of Spectracide Weed Stop down today. It'll rain in 2 days. Pretty sure I'm too late, as weeds are already emerging and yes, around the edges .... my front lawn is a kind of elevated lawn, edged by BRICK on 3 sides. Oh well.
    I can't get too upset about this; it was a wreck last Spring. I had done nothing at all until April and it was a total mess with weeds. Regular somewhat higher mowing helped make it respectable.
    But I could never be 100% sure what grass I had everywhere, especially since some weeds have seed heads that mimic grass in appearence. I studied pictures, I looked at the lawn up close. The Bermuda, like my subscription to this channel, was easy. But the rest?
    This Winter I learned just how much fescue or KY bluegrass I have, which is quite a lot ... if I could get rid of it all and just go with bermuda I feel I could then handle it better. I do not like that Spectracide Weed Stop is now $18 or $19 here in TN, but I may just put that crap down all year and see what happens ... the weeds were astonishing last year.

    those crabgrass photos that are around 2:00 is nightmare fuel. Also, great subject and something I never really thought about. I usually tend to notice crabgrass only pops up on the edges of my sidewalks or by the curb, doesn't help im surrounded by sidewalks either. I guess something for me to take into consideration come next pre-m app.

    Do you think it's too late to scalp my zoysia? Soil temps are in the low 60s. Highs are in the low 70s and lows are in the low 40s. I'd say about 80% of my grass is still dormant a little bit of green coming through

    • @BudgetLawns
      @BudgetLawns  6 місяців тому

      I still haven't scalped my bermuda. We've had a frost in the forecast today and tomorrow. Once your usual last frost or freeze date has passed, you're good to scalp. It's really never too late. I might do mine this weekend as the long range forecast doesn't have any freezing temps. However, the wind is supposed to be brutal so that may keep me from doing it. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.
