Adding a pinned comment because this was unscripted and I made a few mistakes.
The point I was trying to make is that while the west coast was about rebuilding and new civilizations, the east coast (Bethesda) was all BOS invading wastelands and ruins. We never see BOS rebuilding on the east coast like we did with the NCR in the west, (the last we see of the BOS in the west they are failing), but they are somehow just as strong or stronger with no cities, farms, currency, etc. Not hugely important when kept to the east coast, but Fallout TV bringing the west coast down to ruins for the BOS to invade is very frustrating.
I said Fallout 2 was 30yrs after Fallout 1, it was actually 80yrs.
I said the Yao Guai should have two heads, that was wrong.
I gave the impression that the NCR was stronger than it actually was, they had corruption and resource problems that you can learn about it FNV. I still don't think this justifies collapse, especially since the BOS doesn't even have currency or farms but are supposed to be thriving in comparison.
This was the first time I made a video without scripting first, just venting, looks like scripting would've been a good idea.
Edit: Just finished episode 3. It is worse than I thought, will finish the series and make a SCRIPTED video on it.
Scripting would be a good idea in the future.
This takes place 15 years after New Vegas. The NCR had a it more issues besides what you just stated. Kimball did send some troops down to Baja for some odd reason. They were really spreading themselves thin trying to expand. We don't know canon wise what happened Hoover Dam. ( who won, if anybody won) but we do know the NCR was in trouble, we had to recruit other factions to help them in the battle if we did side with them for crying out loud. As for the Brotherhood? 15 years is a good amount of time for them to regroup, recruit, and get reinforcements from other BOS groups. The ship coming in and seeing BOS running towards it, looks like those are reinforcements coming in from somewhere else.
But let's face it. You are ranting about a 3 minute trailer that doesn't show much. Save your rage til you actually see the show on the 11th okay?
NCR doesn't "ruined", it disappears, and "stays that way" they also add a little bit of so-called "West Coast" in the script like a search for replacements, such as a few names, but that's it. Nothing exists anymore, and while it's rude to say so, I urge Fallout 4 not to fill the hole Bethesda dug for this IP. It's not worth it. There's a ton of player-generated content on the Fallout 4 wiki that connects it to the previous game, But Bethesda's actions prove that they don't care, and we don't need to or should be making up for them anymore.
Reading this makes me feel like you only watched F3 was shit videos. Or went in wanting to hate those games.
People cope hard to protect this shit, the NCR dying to the BoS and Shady Sands being a shithole is odd.

Because it wasn't nuked on 2277 the arrow clearly continues after 2277 which leads to the nuke.

They wouldn't exist without new Vegas nor sunset sarsaparilla, Mr house, big mt and Sinclair.

I'm thinking it could be one of two things (My cope):
They messed up with the blackboard and put the wrong date, fallout 3 takes place in 2277 maybe whoever was designing that portion wrote a date that connected to a different part of the lore.
Or, they are gonna end up pushing the timeline back a few years, having the events of FNV take place around the same time as F3. I think this would be the easiest way to keep the established lore together.
Realistically though-
If neither of these are true then the simplest reason is because they are just taking West Coast lore past NV into a different direction than what we saw in the games and Fallout NV in itself is non-cannon. (This is also supported by the last episodes last shot/credit panning shot)
I'm just gonna rewatch Fallout Nuka break.

Fallout 2 is set 80 years after fallout 1, not 30. So the difference between the worlds in that time isn’t as crazy as you made it seem in the video.

The BoS give me a headache now and I see them more as a faction lil kids fall for. They're a shell of what they once were and are just so annoying and ruin the story by being super mega powerful with lack luster explanations. I liked the NCR because we can at least explain their strength and we've seen them grow from nothing to a force with the potential to make a better future for the former US.
That's literally the point they are a shell an echo of what they used to be. That's why the elder tells maximus "we can make a new brotherhood".
Writing NCR storylines requires effort tho. Can't have that.
The saddest thing is when you're a fan of the original Brotherhood of Steel, and everyone only knows the new version 😔

you know, Yao guai were in Fallout 3 and New Vegas. They only have one head in each of those. The only place you'll see a 2 headed Yao Guai is on the flag. Now, if you're interested, I got some 2 headed cows over here. ;)
I’m just gonna go ahead and say it, all these “fallout elitists” who praise 1&2 and NV over any Bethesda mainline entry hardly even know about the game itself lmao. They’re just hopping on the bandwagon of “something greater” because they don’t want a new audience to come in and enjoy the same thing they love, for whatever reason. Fallout has always been about interpretation to the player. There’s so many choices and so many things that make each play through special, it’s nearly impossible to say what’s canon and what isn’t. Nobody is saying you have to watch the show or believe its story if that’s what you want, but a lot of people are really going to enjoy this show and I think that’s the most important thing. As long as the exposure leads to good things I see no issue with the direction they take this show and I’ll happily enjoy it as another form of fallout media.

What an utterly nonsensical thing to say. Nobody's stopping people from playing the old games. Bethesda isn't even making the same kind of games either, so saying it's the "same thing" is nonsense. Bethesda stopped making RPGs after Skyrim. They've been making increasingly tedious looter shooters, starting with Fallout 4.

The show is canon to the games as confirmed by Todd Howard. If the show's writing completely butchers the lore, it will effect future titles. As for how popular it will be, that's definitely going to be a "wait and see" kind of thing.
Todd always did have a massive boner for the BoS. He said he wanted to acquire the franchise because he's a huge fan and wanted to bring it to the 3d gaming world.
Really he wanted it so he can create his vision of what he thinks fallout should of been. The people above him only care if it makes money.

Fallout fans are just like most fandoms splintered into retarded groups that shit on the very thing they claim to love. Fallout is Fallout if people REALLY did like the originals over the new Bethesda stuff [Keep in mind Fallout 3 is THE ONLY reason New Vegas exist] they wouldn't just play New Vegas since they're are numerous mods and games inspired by the original Fallout games yet I never meet a New Vegas or Bethesda fan whose played Underrail, ATOM RPG, Any of the good classic Fallout mods [most are Russian to be fair].
I'm convinced Emil and Todd don't want to let Obsidian make another good Fallout game because it shits on their numbered game.
I highly doubt a new Obsidian Fallout would be any good. Just look at the forgettable disappointment that was Outer Worlds (a game that the devs, marketing team, and fans all presented as Fallout New Vegas 2 electric boogaloo in space). It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t good either. It was so aggressively average with a world that simply does not captivate you. There was almost no moral ambiguity to speak of, the environments were like a watered down Boarderlands, the raiders weren’t interesting, and aside from the companions the writing was super dull. Obsidian REALLY fell off. If you want good Fallout content look to the mods.
ehh not for me, i have put in so much more time into Fo4 than i did with New Vegas, even more so because it doesn't crash every time i look at it wrong. Now if we get a full remaster of FO:NV then my fav my change.

I loved NV and I loved 3! Without 3 I wouldn't have gotten into fallout, I wouldn't have played NV which I didn't appreciate until I played 1 and 2 and understood NV and fell in love with it, 4 came out and I had a blast, story is well hahaha but the overall gameplay is brilliant. Although not a fan of the guns some just ugh.
Please Bethesda do us all a favour for 5 ok, team up with say infinity ward or sledgehammer people who you know *Understand Guns* 😂😂

I feel there's somewhat decent explanations for your complaints, I could be wrong but the city we see with the shady sands library sign is potentially NOT shady sands simply because the show looks to be localized almost entirely in L.A. (again we don't know for sure so take this with a grain of salt) which is to say that the crater is possibly just one of the previous bombs that dropped on 2077. Even if it actually is Shady Sands, there is actually an explanation to this: The Courier. Idk if you mentioned this because I dont have the capacity to listen to someone rant about things for long but if you go back to the "Lonsome Road" DLC, you (The Courier) literally have the option to nuke the east and/or the west, so chances are that even if that actually is shady sands, it might just mean that the choice of the Courier nuking both sides or just the NCR is canon (likely both cause legion ending doesn't seem lore friendly) which would also explain why we might be seeing the remnants of the NCR, they got blown the fuck up, how could they be able to last much longer which isn't even mentioning there already weak state by the end of New Vegas with their president potentially being dead as well as their numbers spread thin from the first and second battle of hoover dam
I'd be surprised if they actually decide to include that. Wouldn't that be something. And it would completely remove NCR and the Legion from any future stories in the capacity they once were. I am very curious to see what's in this thing. Doing it in California is a bold move.

If shady sands gets nuked, New Vegas can't survive long enough for the events to take place and New Vegas can't happen
If it doesn't get nuked, Shady Sands the CAPITAL OF THE NCR STILL FALLS meaning that NCR has to pull out of New Vegas so Caesars Legion can take it, once again New Vegas can't happen

@@WoahThatDude Shady sands was the capital of the NCR during New Vegas, and the fall of a capital especially during the post-apocalypse is devastating for any nation, Caesars Legion, the Brotherhood, the Enclave. If Shady Sands fell during that time, the NCR would've been crippled so bad that holding out at hoover dam or even fighting caesers legion in New Vegas would've been a death sentence.
Sure a capital can change, but you can't just change capitals like they're nothing, there's a reason in so many wars you hear of battles for the capital being a significant event because if a capital is taken it usually means the war is over and a nation is lost
@@Krythulu just because shady sands wouldnt have been nuked, doesnt mean new vegas couldnt have happened, firstly and very easilyy there could have already been a presence in New Vegas, before the events in Shady Sands, and we are also talking about the case of the nuke going off in Shady Sands happeneing around the the time of New Vegas or a bit before, which when you live in a world with no phones, and no cars. The NCR in new vegas, could have easily believed that their capital was still A OK and nothing was wrong, while it not being the case. Not to mention, even in New Vegas, the NCR were already struggling. I think people are taking this wayy out of context.
@@scorake14 The first battle of Hoover Dam took place in 2277, they knew of the capitals fall before the battle. Plus you're neglecting the logistics the NCR are capable of, there's a mission where president Kimbal arrives at Hoover Dam showing that they are still capable with communicating with their capital.
It doesn't make sense to continue fighting when the battle is basically already lost and the capital has fallen

Fallout NV already gave us the hints of the cracks within in the NCR.
-IOS feared that NCR could be suffering from a food shortage within 10-20 year.
-the NCR dollar has lost it value thanks to the BOS blowing up the gold reserve, making citizens lose faith in currency and switching back to bottle caps, which effects their economy
-losing the dam and Mojave means they won't have power and water to help their mager citites in New California.
If the NCR hasnt sorted this things by 2296 it would explain the faction is weaker then it use to be
True, I just don't see a full collapse happening in that time frame, this was a spur of the moment rant just to vent my frustrations. It would make more sense for the NCR to be stable than the BOS to be strong enough for an invasion, Bethesdas BOS don't have any cities or factories or any that stuff that the NCR had built up, they just somehow have the power to wage wars on the east coast in a way that feels like fanfiction logic, wasn't so bad there since it didn't effect much, just frustrating that now they're on the west coast stomping on a faction that actually did build their own cities and made sense.
@@masterficus at this moment in time we don't really know full state of the NCR, as we are only seeing a small bit of it in the LA Boneyard area. As the show runners are setting it there and not the whole New California.
Also in those 15 years, the BOS could have slowly built up its force again, still not as big but enough to start attacking small bits of the NCR. As I've got the impression from the trailers the NCR might have pulled out of the LA area for a unknown reason

I think shady sands could be explained but the big issue i had with the show is how the hell did the Brotherhood go from dying out and literally saying they don't care if they die out they will stand by their principles no matter what to suddenly having their very own prydwen and an entire army??

I was always very aware that they were doing their best to write on several things that they wanted to get out of the way with fallout 76 the recon a lot of the things from fallout one and two mainly one.
It was only a matter of time before they came to fallout new Vegas. The writing was on the walls and me, and very few others have been screaming it for years.

Im pretty sure thats a different ship as its name starts with a C. I personally believe that the BoS from the midwest chapter have arrived to help make war on the NCR. Dispite the fact that we have no idea what happened to the Midwestern BoS.
Easy, Tactics is soft cannon, it is cannon unless new lore contradicts it, if that makes sense.
You know, I never really noticed how much of a hard on Bethesda has for the BOS until you pointed it out haha.
12:00 - In FNV it is actually mentioned that the NCR lacks adequate supplies, armour and weapons for Troopers which would realistically result in some troopers having no armour at all, and having to rely on non-standard weapons (hence why the NCR troops in Primm use varmint rifles and single shotguns) - but due to gameplay and development time constraints the actual NCR troops are fairly uniform in FNV.
Also take into account that the New Vegas endings for the NCR are basically 1/4 for victory - and when the NCR loses Hoover Dam to either independents or House the NCR effectively ceases to be as warmongering and expansionist as it was during FNV. However the NCR would very much still be in power; at worst they remain expansionist (and fanatical due to Oliver, Hanlon and Moore becoming martyrs) at best they basically move away from expansionism (though the best ending for the NCR is a House-NCR alliance based on the barter dialogue options with General Oliver)
IIRC some NCR characters in NV even more or less state that the Boneyard (the setting of FoTV) is still a shithole despite being one of the NCR's biggest settlements - but it's Los Angeles so not a big surprise there.
My biggest issue so far with the TV series is definitely the "bethesdaization" or "easternization" of the West Coast - The BoS using T60 Power Armor (when the WC BoS used T51b) the airship being the same design as the Prdwyn (despite the two groups being separated by an entire continent), the presence of the tacky shitty abomination of a gun called an "Assault Rifle" from Fallout 4, the possible return of the shitty Bethesda Combat Shotgun (instead of the more fitting Fallout 1 Winchester CityKiller or FNV Riot Shotgun), SuperDuper Mart, etc. I will give credit though one of the NCR troops is using a Browning Automatic Rifle (which was used as a basis for the FNV Dead Money Automatic Rifle) - though I seriously doubt by current track records that it was an intentional addition.
Another issue I have is regarding lore from FNV: In FNV it's stated (IIRC) that Scavenging (or Prospecting) on the West Coast is basically non-existent since nearly everything has already been looted after 200-something years; forcing people to either get jobs (mostly working as farm hands for Brahmin Barons) or to sign up for the NCR Military. Yet despite this the fuckin' FoTV show seems to imply that scavenging is a perfectly fine still existent thing - which is just another case point of example of the Bethesdaization of the West Coast.
I have really mixed feelings towards Bethesda's handling of the franchise, and I think the Fallout tv show is basically the breaking point where I now despise Bethesda since they are basically going to shit on the West Coast lore now; especially by regarding this most likely tripe show as canon.

In fallout 3 dont forget about the brotherhood outcast, the traditional insular minded brotherhood of steel.
What people tend to forget is that the Brotherhood literally tells you there aren't with brotherhood anymore, and if that was to on the nose, the Outcast who literally said the left cause Lyons are not the brotherhood anymore.
Who were clearly added as an afterthought, when somebody working on 3 remembered that the BOS being heroic was one of the biggest complaints levied against Fallout BOS. The fact they call themselves the "outcasts" rather than just the BOS is another issue.

In fallout 1 the canon ending of the BoS is that they open up a little, become a R&D part of the NCR and slowly rolls out tech to the wasteland a little to try and help. They also send hit squads to Super Mutant camps and locations, while keeping out of wasteland politics.
That was the canon ending for the BoS. Yeah you had multiple endings, but their are canon endings. Like Vault Dweller beating the master, yeah you could join him, but that's not canon. Unless you want to push your head more up your ass and say it is canon.

In terms of NCR at Griffith observatory it can be a flashback to the first brotherhood war with them maybe. Also even if they taken over the south. Their still the northern part of NCR territory, Redding, San Francisco, and Necropolis. Which then Bethesda if they make fallout 5 in California. They will allow the option to join NCR and rebuild or strengthen them again. Frankly, I would love a Fallout style San andreas map version with all the western cities as Bethesda final fallout before many like todd retire and pass it to newer Bethesda members. Also we haven't seen the actual city of boneyard itself. that was known to be very populated in i believe downtown area. Also remember los Angeles is huge. the NCR can be in the background and the character can still not interact with them at all. I would love them to have a joke where if the NCR is still thriving they say, "oh we can visits a NCR city but be prepared to become a citizen, and get taxed or something.😂" maybe in terms of sandy shore they change the lore that it was a city beforehand that ncr took over. because there was some type of walls past the crater. or the actual capital city is in the outer branches of the remains of the original shandy shores that off camera. Or that sandy shore is a known prewar company that they used the name to base the city on. that why they named the library sandy shores. Also enclave is supposedly in here too so lets see what happens. Remember their hiding a lot and we haven't seen many new creatures. Though I am obsessed with the NCR so if they do wipe them out I will be mad. Maybe it they did destroy shandy shore they moved their capital to another city and their many troops left for a war and that when the brother hood strike when it was almost defenseless that how they took part of LA. Or maybe some of those Vertiburgs were NCR coming as reinforcements since they have them too they were heading to that base in a different direction than the brotherhood was. Also they might have cars if they allow Fallout 2 canon to continue Also maybe a train if Im not mistaken new vegas was making one. heck imagine the NCR had airplanes or jets and blimps of their own.

In California, they are a bunch of xenophobic technocrats who never show up because they don't want to meddle with the outside world. Interesting video, I do agree with a few things, however please consider revisiting this topic or remaking the entire video, after the show released, and we've all watched the first season, and with established facts about the events 15+ years after New Vegas on the region since right now all we can do is speculate.
About what happened with the NCR and if they've declined since the events of New Vegas, how the Brotherhood is present with a new airship and their T-60 power armors, and what's up with the crater next to a sign that says Shady Sands LIBRARY, as in library, not "NCR capital city" The sign looks pre-war to me, this might just be a reference, but people are losing their minds, we cannot know for sure until the show is released.
Also, I'm never really a fan of when anyone attempts to hate monger the people with missconceptions like the Metacritic 85 bonus, when it wasn't even in the original agreement between BGS and Obsidian, it was brought up afterwards, Obsidian held no expectations towards it, and had no grudge when they unfortunately failed. Confirmed by Obsidian developers on Twitter.
Not to mention that New Vegas was originally supposted to be an expansion for Fallout 3, until Todd Howard specifically requested (he is not a god, he is a game director at BGS, not the corporation head) that the original developers were given a chance to create a whole game.
All in all, all we can do right now is speculate, this remaining 27 days until the release will be long as fuck, I can't wait to see the show, I will be expecting waves of nuclear explosions coming from all of the fans, from those who started in 1997, to those who did in last year, all equally fans of the franchise.

As someone who has played the originals and the new stuff this show very much reminds me of Old Fallout where it feels like Law & Order barely exist only within certain community and everything seeming so scarce between locations.

I don't think it's fair to say they're erasing Fallout New Vegas when we haven't seen the show yet. But to ease your thoughts and open a conversation.
It actually makes a lot of sense for the NCR to be in a weakened state. I won't retread water that was said but, including the Famine, Corruption and Overstretched resources and troops. We can look at the Legion and say they did invade. One of the main ways you can defeat Lanius is to convince him that the NCR is too large to conquer without losing the East. Let's say Caesar dies of either player ways or from his tumor. The legate would invade and would ether A. Take over all of the NCR, albeit slowly, NCR would be fighting in their home turf with numerous amounts of resources and troops. So it would be a long fight, which would open the door for both the West Coast Brotherhood as well as the East Coast Brotherhood to strike, which opens the possibility of them being in the show, most likely broken war bands but still. Or B, Lanius would lose and be forced to retreat due to losing the east and the large amount of resources that comes with it. Which is what I feel they'll go with. Then that leaves the NCR in a weakened state that would allow the West Coast chapters of the Brotherhood to strike thus weakening them even more. But as stated by House and from Sodaz, animation numbers still win, so we could hypothesize that the West Coast brothers can't destroy them, so they call upon the east coast brotherhood.
Now, as for your statement about the East Coast Brotherhood, they do have a city state of sorts. It's mentioned numerous times on the terminals on the Prydwen and from other characters such as Deacon that the capital wasteland is more secure and under their control. Seeing how the brotherhood acts and spouts about built building and being able to send recon squads to the commonwealth and with emails on the Prydwen between civilians and knights, I'd say they're a Tectonic order. Add that with the numerous settlements in the capital wasteland and the others that would arise from both project purity as well as the brotherhood itself. It's safe to say they can create manufacturers to create new gear. Hell, the gun runners just had to find one factory to get their business started.
Now as for why the East Coast would attack the NCR, one its their longest reigning enemy, also going to my original point of the west coast brothers taking advantage of a weak NCR why wouldn't they show support. But a secondary reason is Arthur Maxon, who from just the little we see is probably the most radical member of the organization. Just look at how he handled Danse and his whole speech on technology during that quest.
As for Shady Sands, consider that the NCR is more of proper government and is making both paper money and new weapons as well as armor by the time of Fallout New Vegas and it's not hard to reason the sign is post war meant to look like a pre war sign. Hell, in Fallout 2, you could get a working car, it's not out of the realm of possibility for the NCR to have all of their buildings and signage look and feel pre-war

My main takeaway here is that you are expecting the storyline to progress from total wasteland anarchy to advanced civilizations with a particular appreciation for the NCR.
However, what is the very first thing we are told in the Fallout franchise? War. War never changes. We should expect war to continue and civilizations to topple. Even the NCR.
The biggest settlement in Fallout 4 is clearly the institute would argue it's the most advanced civilization in the whole franchise.
As an engineer, going into the technical feasibility of the power armor is a losing battle.
I believe if no tweaks are made to certain things the show will not be received well by those that have not been exposed to the games and eventually fail.
We have to welcome certain changes (like the power armor face shield). luckily the open-ended storyline of the franchise can allow for this.
I'm looking forward to the series. Seeing only positive takes was worrying, so I appreciate this video.

I can give you one right now. The NCR was dying in NV. It's explicitly stated they are in a water crisis and on the verge of mass starvation and collapse. Seems It happened. The NCR collapsed. Very predictably. It also seems the East coast BoS has merged with the West. This is pretty obvious by the airship, which is purely a BoS build, as they did not exist pre-war. Although the West BoS was weak, the East was incredibly strong. Seems they made it back home.

I am not a Bethesda fan boy and I have lots of unscripted energy in my own work. But this whole video feels like a reach my man. I've been playing these games since the original launched. New Vegas is always heralded as the best the series has ever been.
But it falls apart if you actually analyze it with a critical eye. Why does the Gomorrah sign have constantly burning fuel for over a hundred years after the bombs if resources were scarce. Who's changing those lightbulbs on the strip? Why do the townsfolk immediately shoot me if I put on the powder gangers coat right in front of them? In a world with absurdly plentiful ammunition, why is the legion using football gear and melee weapons? How can a bomber plane survive hundreds of years under water and be restored by some idiots with a flight manual? That's not how water damaged engines work...
I'm being silly.. because this stuff doesn't actually matter. Much like a visor flipping up doesnt matter, you can flip up a motorcycle helmet visor... you can flip up a medieval knight helmet visor as well... which is what the brotherhoods aesthetic is inspired by, if anything I'm surprised this hasn't happened in the games earlier.
I recognize that "Anti-Bethesda" is it's own flavor here on UA-cam, but Outer Worlds was mediocre and it's made by Obsidian and Tim Cain.. yaknow the Fallout Guy and New Vegas team. Interplay, the original developers of Fallout also made Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel.. which is Yikes.
In summary; this trope of Todd Howard and Bethesda ruin everything, is tired. The revisionist history that New Vegas enjoyers use to frame everything is tired. This show is it's own thing set in a universe folks are familiar with and it will be canon despite folks kicking and screaming about the sacred lore. Try keeping an open mind we don't know what the show will be like until we actually watch it. :)
The problem is way deeper than just FNV good, Bethesda bad. Bethesda simply does not understand the Fallout Universe, but they held the IP for so long that people forgot what Fallout was all about.
Fallout is about the passage of time but human nature keeping the same, farming huts to an Imperalist Nation, small tribes making an Brutal Empire, the MAIN faction (BoS) being left behind because of tradition etc.
Bethesda's Fallout is static, there will always be the typical post-apocalypse anarchy, there will always be raiders, there will always be BoS.
And classic fans are pissed because the only Fallout corner that still has that original midset (west coast Fallout) will be erased because of the TV show. Be honest with me, the TV show looks good, but it is a carbon copy (visually) of Fallout 4.

Completely agree and would like to make a few points of my own. By the way Nice Job particularly since this was unscripted and unrehearsed. You made a few completely trivial mistakes and so what? Strictly speaking FO4 should have been FO5 but that's another matter.

The Problem really started a long time ago with Interplay. Most people don't even realize how controversial and dividing FO2 was amoung the fan base. They really kind of took a dump on their own lore to put out a game quickly. A lot of ideas that were left out of or discarded from the first made its way into the second. The Enclave, Vaults as experiments, Magical Tech IE: The GECK and a bunch of over the top Monty Python humor. This did not go over very well with a lot of The original Fan base who were and are hard core RPG players who had played Wasteland 1 and D&D before that. However eventually everyone kind of bought into a certain developers alibis about how this had been intended all along and everyone moved on. FO2 had a lot going for it. It was more stable and your latitude and options were much wider. However it was thought that at this point Canon had been established and we knew more or less what to expect from the next game FO3 (Van Buren).
Well they managed To F**k that up, all to hell. A game which reportedly was 90% done was left on the cutting room floor so they could pursue the console Market and released instead Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel. This was targeted almost exclusively at X-Box and Playstation gamers. Pretty trashy and universally despised by all the F.O. Community. To make matters worse they licensed another version of Fallout to Micropose for a Tactical RPG without much help and with a short development time. It was actually a good game and it was totally consistent with Fallout 1. However it was often confused with the other game because of a similar naming convention. It was never given much of a chance by the FO fans and the public at large also associated it with Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel. This was the end for Interplay who would hang on for many more years but was broke and their lead designers and developers had moved on to Troika and Obsidian. A few more things happened but it was just a matter of time before the franchise would be up for grabs. Enter Bethesda, Who had a pretty fair rep amoung RPG fans and was flush with cash. A lot of us old fans had very mixed feelings about Bethesda picking up The Fallout franchise and thought it would be Oblivion with Guns. I swear the ads in the prerelease ad campaign were much more impressive than the game itself. FO3 was fun and with 101 Mods it was even better, but it bore little resemblance to the original series in terms of its look or Lore or its art style. The story line as you already pointed out was all wrong. However something which gets little attention is that Fallout was a Retro-Futuristic vision from a 1950's perspective. So the overall art style was art Deco. I don't think anyone at Bethesda even knows what that is. The whole style of the series has taken on a steam punk look and feel.
Fallout 4 was atrocious. Wonderful graphics and mechanics, but the whole storyline was just rot and it was the reason a lot of people got caught up in endless settlement building. I never even gave FO76 a chance. I saw the ads for it and just shook my head. The ads were funny.......but FO is not a comedy series, so the joke is on the fans. I had heard rumors about either a movie or a TV series for years. Personally I preyed it would never happen. I knew what we would be getting. With Todd and Beth's attitude and point of view about Lore and Canon and a total lack of respect for fans (especially old FO fans) it will be one heaping, steaming, putrescent, pile of Brahmin Dung.

In season 2 we need more information on what happened to the N.C.R. In the show it does show on the board in the classroom that Shady Sands was destroyed in 2277 but fails to explain what happen to the rest of the N.C.R because it was made up more than just one city. There were lots of towns, cities and vaults that were a part of the N.C.R in California and parts of Nevada. Also, Shady Sands is called the first Capital of the N.C.R so that could imply they moved their Capital to another city. We also need to remember that by the time of the events of Fallout New Vegas that the N.C.R was struggling to maintain control over its vast territories because they expanded too fast and there was lots of corruption in their government. So, all I'm saying is just wait for season 2. I'm would think after hearing about this topic from the fans on X and UA-cam they will address this canon problem in the next season. I hope the N.C.R makes a comeback because out of all the factions that exist in the Fallout universe the New California Republic and the Brotherhood of Steel are my favorites.
The closest we got to a Brotherhood city was Tactics and that's mostly thanks to them bending their rules to allow civilians, ghouls, even mutants. But still teaching them in different ways what the Brotherhood is and their goals but understand that they need to adapt.
One minor thing that annoys me the most about the show is the trees. Why are there trees? Literally no fallout game has trees. The radiation levels are way too high for there to be trees. We never see any live trees in any fallout games. Not in 1,2,3 new vegas, or 4. But there are trees everywhere in the show. They put no effort at all into making the show actually accurate to the reality of fallout.

Las Vegas is a 6 hour drive from Los Angeles. Substantially more so in a post-nuclear wasteland without maintained interstates. I get where you're coming from, but it really just seems like you're mad over nothing. I guarantee New Vegas will be mentioned at least once, how could they include the NCR in the show and not mention why the Brotherhood suddenly has the willpower to fight them after being recluses in NV?
I understand that, the BOS had to move west, past Las Vegas, to get to Los Angeles, so wouldn't that make it worse? And how do you explain Shady Sands getting nuked or the NCR being weakened unless what I said was accurate?
The point I was trying to make, that I understand wasn't made as clearly as I should've since this was a rant, was that the NCR was built up over three games (1,2,NV) while the BOS never was, so Bethesda nuked the NCR, effectively wiping out everything Obsidian and Interplay built, and the BOS invaded somehow.

I should also mention the NCR does not necessarily canonically come out on top in New Vegas, everybody has always just assumed so. Personally, I always found it far more likely that House held onto it. You can even nuke the Long 15 literally in New Vegas, proving that the means to nuke the NCR existed long ago. On top of all of that, the Brotherhood didn't solely exist in Hidden Valley, they exist all throughout the country. Maybe reinforcements finally arrived. I shouldn't say maybe, as they definitely did seeing as the Caswennan airship is not the Prydwen and likely came from the midwest airship fleet previously mentioned in other games. In short, Bethesda hasn't retconned a single thing here. If the NCR turns out to really have been nuked, maybe they just got a bad hand dealt to them, as every single other faction in the series has had at one point
I included a screenshot in the video, there's a sign right next to the crater that says Shady Sands, Shady Sands wasn't nuked before, that's new. If they were nuked during the Lonesome Road DLC wouldn't we see signs of the Legion? The BOS lost a war against the NCR, reinforcements were never coming, where would they come from? Where did they get all their equipment? The Prydwin 2? Their vertibird fleet? The closest we get to a BOS industry center are throw away lines in FO4 saying the Prydwin was scavenged from a FO3 DLC.
First I've heard of the Midwest Airship Fleet, only reference I could find is tied to Fallout Tactics, it says they're all destroyed. Unless you're referring to something else?
I never said they retconned a single thing. My complaint is that they brought Obsidians/Interplays world down to their level and brought in the BOS to stomp on them.

Obviously that wouldnt be in Fallout 1 due to engine limitations, they couldnt possibly make a real sized LA then. Also, no, its not likely we would see any signs of the Legion this far west, as their entire organization revolves around 1 man with brain cancer, and having been 16 years since NV, he's probably dead, meaning the Legion would have long ago disintegrated or returned to tribal living. The NCR is also notoriously corrupt and stretched thin in New Vegas, they aren't the powerhouse they'd have you believe. Chief Hanlon himself believes this. Back to BoS, they absolutely were developed in previous games, and never fully left California, retreating to bunkers. You made a good point about the airship fleet, but the Brotherhood having a tried and true schematic for an airship (Prydwen, and likely many before they kept the schematics of), absolutely decimating the Enclave in the East, and essentially likely gaining control over the Eastern megalopolis area, it's really not hard to see how they got enough materials for military hardware at all. I should mention that the Foundry in the Pitt is still capable of producing Pre-War quality metal, and that is an oppressed group of non-fighters. Do you really think the Brotherhood couldn't forge metal if they seriously wanted to? These people have been collecting technology, blueprints, and knowledge for 219 years. I'm not a BoS stan, I much more like the Enclave, but there's quite a lot of factors you aren't taking into account when making your claims.
One more thing I should mention. The Caswennan (TV Airship) almost certainly came from the east coast, providing the necessary brute strength to any Brotherhood holdouts in the West. Caswennan is an alternative name for Prydwen, King Arthur's ship of legend. Arthur Maxson himself named the Prydwen after assuming its command in honor of this legend. It's also stated the Prydwen was constructed in a mere 2 years. Having been 9 since Fallout 4, it's definitely not implausible that they have a new ship.

Still don't know why people are complaining about the Fallout 3 BOS, Tactics BOS(Midwestern BOS) were completely different than Lost Hills. Each Chapter is gonna be different but still try to keep the same ideology. The resources for the expedition? Who knows what the BOS had from Fo2 to Fallout 3 in terms of supplies. I assume after decades of them supplying themselves and hoarding they'd have enough to branch out, Hence the multiple Chapters all over the place.
Well, we know that BoS is a small, dogmatic, isolationist faction that doesn't branch out much at all. BoS doesn't have the resources to fight NCR, while NCR doesn't have the resources to fight Caesar's bunch of barbarians.
In FO3, a small expedition team turns into an army of charitable wasteland supersoldiers because Todd says so.
In FO4, the weak western BoS regains control of the eastern BoS because Todd says so.
In the show, the western/eastern BoS apparently nuked & defeated the NCR. Well, at least that's not directly Todd's fault.
@@ML-bq1bn Yea, this is how I know you never played fallout 1,2 or even 4 and NV. Fallout 2 had the BOS and NCR working together, only decades later they started a war with each other. Fallout NV’s Mojave Chapter is isolationist, but that isolationist mindset is killing them as stated by Veronica.
Fallout 4’s BOS was never taken over by Lost Hills, Arthur Maxson mad contact with them and shortly after they broke communications, but he reorganized the BOS to form under him. He grew up with Owyn and Sarah Lyons, and he kept some ideas from Lyons and helping the wasteland by recruiting wastelanders into his military while also being against Tech use by wastelanders.

Empires have died or receded after winning a major war. The British Empire were among the victors in World War 2, yet the British lost their empire despite that victory. It's entirely possible that the NCR imploded under its own weight and has lost territory after the events of New Vegas. Marcus did mention that the NCR would come to regret rolling over people in its endless campaigns of expansion.
The complaint about the NCR troopers wearing hodgepodge gear is a non-argument. Did you play New Vegas? Mismatched equipment was standard fare for NCR troopers on the frontlines, if they were even issued armor at all.
Canon matters, yes, but at the end of the day you've gotta keep in mind that all this shit is made up ultimately for entertainment. Wires will get crossed in any creative endeavor that develops a fictional universe, especially when a franchise is creeping up on 30 years old. If you want strict, unbending canon, your only option is to drop the entertainment and pick up religion.
