    I take a moment to thank you with all deepest sincerity for putting together this instruction. One item that you completely clarified in a matter of seconds that no other video could do that I researched. Your explanation of how DHCP isn't present on the PoE ports, and your visual of exactly what to change the camera's static ip settings to has my system working perfectly now. You have no idea how much time I spent just trying to get one camera to be seen by this very same NVR. The manual could be so much better in explaining things in simple terms, and Hikvision tech support listened to my story about exactly how everything is wired, and how everything is configured, and then politely said they offer no tech support and I would need to seek a professional to do my installation which would have cost a small fortune with 6 security cams. Thank you thank you for this one single vid.

    Hi great video
    I have noticed that in the maintenance icon, your cameras showing video only not video /audio
    Does this mean you don't get any audio
    My cameras are also showing video only, no sound.
    How can I get audio to work, I have a Hikvision DS 7608NI-I2/8P NVR with four H265+ Hikvision cameras.

    Hi watched your videos with great enthusiasm and they certainly explained a lot and have given me confidence to move from my PC to a dedicated NVR.
    Only issue I have is that you say the NVR changes all the IP address of the cameras I already have which will cause huge issues for me to access the cameras remotely any more.
    Does the NVR offer remote access to android devices, I currently use “IP CAM View” on android and don’t want to lose my remote access to them.
    Or have I totally misunderstood something.
    Many thanks
    Nigel

      Glad I helped give you the confidence. If you leave your setup as-is and just add the NVR to your network you will be able to keep using IP CAM View without and changes. If you plug all the cameras into the back on the NVR, yes, all the IP addresses will change and you will need to access the NVR remotely. I haven't done a lot with remote access over app. You will need to make sure iVMS-4500 can access the NVR remotely using VPN, port forwarding, or HIK connect. Hope this helps.

      Hi there, thanks for the response so quickly, I thought that would be the case.
      I did a little searching and came up with this guy who explains it quite well, its more of a lecture rather than a quick tutorial, but explained quite a lot to me and game me some good references with hikvision.
      Ill post the link below in case you might be interested in watching it.
      Once again many thanks for your vids and chatting.

    is there any loss in frame rate or bitrate between accessing the cameras through NVR from a computer vs accessing them through a POE switch that the nvr and computer access?

    New subscriber! Hi, I posted in another video you made but this video almost explains my question.
    I'm looking to add another hikivision PTZ 4mp 25x to my system that was professionally installed with a hikivision 2 terabyte 4 channel recorder. I have 3 cameras currently, 1 ptz, 1 fixed, 1 pt trucolor. Can I just run a LAN wire (with the wires in the same order on the connectors as the others) from the recorder to the camera? The only issue was that a POE had to be added to the PTZ 25x camera because it was very slow and the picture was long delayed. Would the camera need to be updated or will it automatically update/assign the ip address? Thank you in advance

      @HomeTechDIY  2 роки тому

      A new (inactive) Hikvision camera should work automatically when it's connected to the Hikvision NVR. The NVR will take care of the IP addresses. Make sure the port on the NVR is set up to automatically accept devices (not manual). Also ensure the NVR is compatible with the camera. You'll need to also verify if the NVR can power a PoE+ device (assuming the camera is PoE+).

    Hi there I have a question how can I add hikvision camara on nvr hikvision ds-7616ni-e2/16p and if I can add different model. Thanks

  • @mx1209
    @mx1209 6 років тому

    I just purchased a Hikvision DS-7608NI-I2/8P NVR and was wondering what cameras would be compatible? The authorized dealers like (B&H photo) want ridiculous prices for their cameras. All I need to do is set up a few cameras and hook them up to the NVR and leave it be. I'm not sure firmware updates are necessary for the camera??? Is it a bad idea to get a english version Hikvision camera off of ebay? BTW I'm totally new to the network camera scene..

    • @HomeTechDIY
      @HomeTechDIY  6 років тому

      If you buy them on eBay, you are entering the grey market. There is no warranty or support. If you are not technical or don't feel comfortable with that, you might want to consider a authorized dealer. Check out my video on the Grey Market for more info that and doing software updates.

    • @HomeTechDIY
      @HomeTechDIY  6 років тому

      As long as both brands are the same OR they are both ONVIF compatible, it should work.

  • @marinoazcona7512

    • @HomeTechDIY
      @HomeTechDIY  6 років тому

      As long as the NVR and the cameras can communicate over ONVIF, you should be able to use almost any brand.

    • @HomeTechDIY

      I don't believe it is possible to convert them. Some coax systems have great resolution and may already be 2MP or higher by comparison.

    Hi, for some reason my NVR has reset to default and now not detecting my cameras. i have checked them to be on the 192.168.254 range and password seems correct but still does not see the cameras. can you please help?

      If you reset the NVR back to factory, the camera's are still configured for the old system. You will need to manually configure the cameras' settings on the NVR to match the old system including credentials, activation password and ports.

      Yes, log into the camera's web user interface and go the Configuration tab at the top of the page. Then under System, click on Maintenance. There should be a button to reset all parameters back to default.

      There is no password to use the tool. To access each camera, you may need your password that you created when you activated the device.
