    I finally plugged in the NVR and powered it up and the beeping begins. 5 to be exact. I walk through the step required to Activate the NVR with a new password and I add a camera password. The camera password will automatically activate and set the password for any detected inactive Hikvision cameras added to the NVR. The unit has its own unique IP address on my network when plugged into my switch or router. Internally, on the NVR all cameras will have their own IP address on the NVR’s network. I format the hard drive which thankfully stopped the beeping. I show how the live view works and change the layout to 4 X 4. The PTZ and turret cameras I plugged into the unit’s PoE ports were automatically added and starting continuously recording by default. I check out the playback feature but I’m not impressed with the clunky timeline slider. Lastly, I notice there is a cool page displaying the wattage usage of each camera and the maximum wattage left for consumption.

    I just purchased a Hikvision DS-7608NI-I2 NVR and was wondering what cameras would be compatible? The authorized dealers like (B&H photo) want ridiculous prices for their cameras. All I need to do is set up a few cameras and hook them up to the NVR and leave it be. I'm not sure firmware updates are necessary for the camera??? Is it a bad idea to get a english version Hikvision camera off of ebay?

    Really appreciate your videos. I have searched unsuccessfully for a video on how to do audio out with this DVR and the "S" versions of the HIKVISION cameras. It would be great if you could do a series of videos on this. The use case would be wanting to say something to someone/thing you see on camera. Three different ways for the audio to be supplied, by mic in the back of the DVR, through the web interface/PC and through a the android app, iVMS4500. Nobody has video like this you would be the first!. Also interesting is some kind of PoE "tap" device to draw 12V power for the speaker. Keep up the good work and let me know what you think of this suggestion. Cheers!

    I’ve been looking at these for a while, they look really good at a great price. But can ask a couple of questions?
    How easy is it to set up the network (I am clue less in this) I had experience of setting an ip camera a few years ago and it put me off, in the end I just couldn’t do it. And the other question is, can you view recorded notifications from your mobile app when your away.
    Great video by the way.

    Does this NVR highlight when there has been motion in playback feature? When I use it I have to watch hours of playback trying to find an event because I can seem to see where has been motion.
    Also, is it possible to watch playback in 2x or 4x or 8x speed? It would be so good to be able to speed up playback but I can’t find either of these features when I use the DS-7600system on my mobile phone

    I'm about to buy one of these 7600 16ch models, or the LTS model as I have a 16port 180watt total power POE unmanaged switch.
    What I would like to know is when we install these camera softwares, we have a option in the steup to give Private network access through firewall, or give Public network access. I would like to keep the software that I have noticed one (HDView) to access drives I never instructed to. I have also heard of a number of these having backdoor access and direct bandwith use with these apps.
    How can we safeguard against these apps to keep them off the content children and family or business info is transmitted on?
    Look forward to your next video. I purchased a few cameras, A Hikvision, a Dahua(same company, and the HDView. I also have a older IP/12v-dc powered indoor Foscam PTZ that should be interestingly weak(720p). Either way, The HDVIEW NVMS-1000 software I think has malware of some sort, as it taps my drives and network.

    Hello and thank you for creating this video. I just installed the DS-7600 series Hikvision NVR with Dahua IP cameras for a client and they do not have any Internet service at the moment. If I am understanding your video correctly in order to get video images from each camera the NVR has to be connected to the Internet, right? Naturally, there's no way to add a new camera or assign an IP address to each camera without Internet service. So, am I understanding correctly that with this particular NVR there's no other way to get camera images? Does this NVR not have plug and play? Should the NVR display a video feed for each camera using PoE? Or is it that the Dahua IP cameras aren't onvif compatible?

    Did you ever get around to reviewing the remote access and alarm capabilities? I keep kicking around the peanut of one day finding a COTS NVR that would suit my purposes but no luck. I would definitely connect the alarm features to series of zwave switches and make use of motion detection. Right now I'm building my own CV interface to toy with even better detection. Still would be nice to see how far away they are... oh, and I run headless. So remote access is a big deal. My NVR will be difficult to access intentionally. Thanks!

      Ah..., the brand I now hate because it gives false alarms between sunset and sunrise. And its browser interface is rubbish, eyesore white in color and a pain in the butt. It shows colored boxes on the lower right, but in playback mode it doesn't show in the triggered points where the alarm or capture of motion should have occurred/marked, like the NVR own GUI screen, the one where you use the NVR mouse. And when there is a triggered alarm, I get a notification on my mobile. Guess what, after almost some 40 seconds later since the NVR had beeped, way too late. For example, I leave the house with the car and I am certain that the cameras have detected me, but the Hi-connect App on my mobile hasn't sent me an alarm notification at that spot. So, I drive to the supermarket and there it is, 40-50 seconds to a minute later I get the alarm notification, too late, WTF was it doing during all this idle time? Sometimes it sends alarm notifications immediately, sometime I'd be lucky to get one at all. And I am mostly around the house, in direct view of the cameras. And people are still saying Hikvision is the best. Ha! My fault, really 😣 I shouldn't have listened to anyone before I purchased it 3 weeks ago. So, now I am stuck with this Chinese junk that doesn't do what I had expected after trying other cheaper and better brands, Swann, Concord, Techview, etc.

      Expanding my knowledge and since I've hit 10 cameras on BI, I can only record at 1fps due to system lag. It's a $1500 computer and it cannot keep up, even with direct to disk. The BI database keeps having issues and since it runs on Windows, there are critical system updates which will reboot my system, so I need to keep a close eye on it to make sure I don't stop recording. I'm also hoping to save electricity in running an Hikivison NVR or a PC with a 800w power supply.

      You can access your NVR via web, on your phone and desktop using their stand alone software (much better than web). Hikvision offers x265 encoding which is the latest and greatest and can really keep the amount of disk space required down. Personally I find the NVR quite complex as it has so many features, but easier than building a PC to use as your NVR. Another thing I like about NVR, it provides PoE to the cameras so no special switch.... oh, also there is no direct access to the cameras over the network so I think that provides some increased security as well.

  • @exgenica
    @exgenica 3 роки тому +1

    Unfortunately, there are different versions of ONVIF and merely because both devices are labeled as "ONVIF" is not a 100% guarantee they will work together, especially if from different base manufacturers.
    OR
    One may see some feature(s) work fine (e.g. video is displayed), while other feature(s) may not work properly (e.g. Pan & Tilt, 2-way audio, alarm features, etc)
    One may also run into compression codec incompatibility issues.
    One may also have a camera that requires bandwidth that is too high for a particular NVR/DVR (e.g. one may have an NVR capable of handling only up to 8x 3MP cameras but the camera(s) one is trying to add may be 5MP or higher, AND...the NVR may be able to only handle a certain value of combined bandwidth consumed by all the cameras connected. Under such constraints trying to add more cameras OR even a single higher resolution camera may cause issues. If one is unaware of these constraints then debugging problems can get complicated.

    Good day I am seeking assistance with setting up a POE NVR. I have activated the Hikvision IP cameras but when I plug them in to the NVR it is not being detected. I have tried setting the cameras IP to DHCP as well as setting static IP to the NVR POE ports but they still are not being detected. What other settings am I overlooking?

    • @HomeTechDIY
      @HomeTechDIY  2 роки тому

      Once the cameras are manually activated, you would need to configure each of the NVR channels with the correct IP and credentials for each camera. The NVR's internal network (PoE) is on a totally different subnet then you home network. The easiest solution is to reset the cameras back to factory settings (inactive) and connect them to the NVR. The NVR will then activate each by assigning each a password. The NVR will also manage the IP address on its internal network. Hope this helps.

      @@HomeTechDIY It is a Hikvision ip PTZ Speed Dome camera Model DS-2DE4425W-DE (B). Yes the ghosting is consistent with the zooming. I have not noted down the zoomed value, the distance of the camera and the subject is around 80 feet. The video in the frame, 2/3 from the bottom, is clear and in focus. It is only in the top 1/3 of the frame that ghosting appears. It is set to auto (day/night) indoor, frame rate is 30 fps, constant bit rate. Hi, a Hikvision technician finally was able to go on-site to do some troubleshooting. Problem on ghosting of video was not solved through tweaking of the settings of the camera. However, the good news is that the problem was solved. A hardware problem exists. The bubble cover of the ptz camera was defective. The construction was defective. The upper 3rd portion of the cover was blurry. We were able to see this problem when we took out the cover and took a video. The ghosting was gone. We saw the problem when we closely examined the cover made of plastic. I am now awaiting for the replacement of the bubble cover and the problem case will be closed.

      When resetting the NVR, the camera's don't automatically reset. You'll need to use the same password in your NVR as you did previously and ensure the camera activation password is the same. If that doesn't work, you'll need to reset your cameras by connecting a PC to one of the camera ports on the NVR. You'll PC will need the SADP software to find the camera's IP address. Once found, you a browser on your PC to access the camera with the original password. The camera will then need to be factory reset.
