Glad i can help =)
@@ENSSecurity whats an MBR
@@rehan2118 MBR stands for maximum bit rate allowing the bit rate to vary but only up to a maximum value, effectively VBR with a cap.
Great Video to get knowledge Good luck Sir to you

If I didn't use port forwarding that is if the router DHCP is enabled after assigning static IP to the NVR and the Cameras. Is it work seamlessly for year??
Great video, questions. Will it work if I connect those cameras directly to NVR? What's the point of Switch > Router I think to get internet right only. What's the difference? Where is the Uplink of that router to get internet?
Thank you for your questions, if you connect cameras directly to the NVR they will work. The POE switch has a couple of uses, if the NVR can handle 32 cameras, many times the actual direct connections on the NVR can be 16. The POE switch adds the additional direct lines to get more cameras connected to the NVR. Connecting to the internet requires connecting the NVR to the Internet Provider. Hope this helps answer your questions. Let us know how we can assist.
@@ENSSecurity thank you , so poe switch is optional as nvr has the POE switch itself. You are right👍
@@ProfitableAgribusinessIdeas That is correct
Hi, I'm planning to leave the switch in my roof and the NVR in the house. I will also connect the NVR to a UPS to provide a back up if someone would tamper with the main power. How should I connect it all to have the switch connect to the UPS as well? I reckon the switch must be directly connected to the UPS?
Everything that you would like to have it ON in case the main power goes off needs to be connected to the UPS. if you are able to connect the NVR and other devices to the UPS simply use a Power Strip to connect more than one device to the UPS. if you cannot do that then you must get separate UPS to power the other devices that are not in range.
Can you connect more than one NVR to the PoE switch?
I have question I have Hikvision nvr when went in the camera configuration it see the camera it they when add camera. it say no ip camera find. the camera all hook to Ethernet port . I even change the ip address as closeer to the default gate. same same problem the camera that is connect through the wireless Bridget. some i was able to add it would say network unreachable.
Do you have IP cameras that are Hikvision and an NVR hikvision?
Great Info. I have a NVR that uses this softwear, when cameras are connected, they are not shown on the NVR, do we need to enable them, how do we do that.
Thank you for the useful video
I have a question, i have a Dahua IP camera and Dahua NVR 4 Channel but doesn’t have built in POE so i had to buy an external POE switch now my question is I don’t want to use router or internet i only need to connect one camera directly to the NVR, when i connect the nvr to the poe switch and the ip camera connected to switch poe but i got blank screen on the monitor that says:10.0.0.60 Can not find the network host
So do i need to adjust the IP address for the camera make it the same as NVR IP address??
Thank you
If you dont have a Router. then you need to create your own ghost network. set the ip address to the NVR static for example IP:192.168.1.10 SUB:255.255.255.0 Gateway: 192.168.1.1.. then connect a laptop to the PoE switch and use the software that Dahua uses to find the ip cameras on the network and set each camera with the same network setting except the IP. for example first IP camera 192.168.1.11 the second 192.168.1.12 with the same SUB and gateway and then you should be able to add them onto the NVR. hope this helps.
hey good day again to you. I was wondering if I could use a HDMI to ETHERNET adapter to transmit the video signal from my NVR to multiple TVs in different locations as a monitor to be able to view my network cameras??
Hello Ian King, yes that is correct, you could use a HDMI to Ethernet Adapter to transmit the video signal,
Nice, basic video. You might want to mention DHCP range.
Randomly picking IP addresses that are also in the router's DHCP table range is a recipe for disaster.
I'm not saying that you need to explain all that in the video, but mention it so that installer can investigate and educate themselves further. Otherwise, there is a very good change that few days/weeks after installation they'll be getting phone calls about some cameras not working.
Good point, and thank you for the feed back. for future reference I will try to explain as much as i can but at the same time be brief about it. =)
Thanks for this tutorial.
I have a question.
Can a 4 channel NVR take up to 32 camera when using an external POE switch?
Even though you can, you cannot record all of them.
QUESTION DID YOU USE A CROSSOVER CABLE FROM ROUTER TO SWITCH OR LAN/PATCH ?
Most consumer products support MDIX so cross over cables isn't necessary. We used a straight-through cable in this video but YMMV depending on what the equipment supports.
If PoE cameras support sd cards can you still use a PoE switch without the nvr?
Thanks for this great video. Question….. is this the same method if you plug the cameras directly into your NVR Poe ports??
no its would be 4 different ip rather then 1 with the switch
Video is very good and explained the process step by step. But you didn’t explain why this method of cable configuration i.e. Cameras to Poe Switch then PoE Switch to Router and Router to NVR is more advantageous over the other method of Connecting Cameras to NVR PoE ports then NVR to a Switch or Router. And in which situations you would use this configuration than the other way. What are the pros and cons of both wiring configurations. Please explain. Thanks.
exactly, I didn't understand the purpose of this video.
I have my camera cables and internet router in my garage. I have ethernet cable in my room which is connected to switch in garage. Can I put camera cables in that switch in garage and connect nvr in bedroom which has Ethernet cable coming from same switch?
Hello, we recommend reaching out to your installer before changing wiring. If you are the installer, please reach out to our technical support department.
Thanks for sharing this video.can i ask what are those characters to be input when configure camera ip address?im doing DIY CCTV in our home.all my 4 cameras indicated with camera 01 at the monitor.
The IP address is of the camera is dependent on your network's IP address scheme. It might even be 192.168.1.1 like the video, but it can be different. Use the command prompt while connected to the same network to see your network address scheme.
@@ENSSecurity Thank you, Sir looking forward of your future videos.
Great Video!
Question: SInce this setup is already connected to the network switch, can we do away the NVR and retrieve the video footage on a desktop PC instead? If it is possible, is there software available for me to interact with the cameras on a PC without a NVR?
Yes that can be possible, but the Computer needs to be 24/7 ON in order to Record. Also make sure that your IP cameras Have a CMS Software. I really dont know what type of cameras you have at the moment but if they are Our Brand you can go to our website and download the NVMS1000 for windows or NVMS1200 for MAC under Support. Note that the HDD on the computer needs to have a large space for the IP video recording and also that the CMS does not work exactly like a regular NVR.
Hi what if i want to have 2 poe switch? Does it work 2 cameras every switch ( wanna use the second switch to another building) so that only 1 cable for 2 cameras long range
If you have 2 or 3 PoE switch you can connect them this way. From the Router connect a CAT5/6 To the first PoE switch on the UPLINK port, then plug one CAT5/6 on any PoE port in the PoE Switch and connect it to the 2nd PoE Switch on the UPLINK Port. This way you can connect as many cameras as the PoE switch is capable of using just one cable run to the Router. Note. You can also connect the NVR into the PoE Switch, Just make sure you connect the LAN port of the NVR to any available port on the PoE Switch.
Can I connect the router to the POE switch instead of the NVR and the NVR directly to the POE switch? I ask the question because I think it will be better in case that there is no power and the NVR and the POE is running with a battery backup. And if that is the case what is the process to setup everything on the NVR?
Yes, you will be able to connect everything to the PoE switch. Remember that the UpLink port on the PoE is the one that is going to be connected to the router. Hope this helps.
meaning if we want to achieve this, we need POE switch that has more ports, right? anyhow...i was wondering, what is the difference between these 2 connection types; NVR to router VS NVR to POE switch?
Please advice. Thank you.
If you connect the NVR to the PoE switch and the PoE switch to the router makes no difference as the other way. The only thing is that if you connect the IP cameras to the PoE switch then the NVR would Auto configure the IP cameras instead of adding them manually
Can I add 32 camera in my 16 channel nvr using switch? Please let me know
Hello, the channel maximum is the total IP cameras the unit can accept. If the NVR is a 32 channel but only has 16 ports on the back of the unit, you can use an external PoE to add the remaining cameras.
Hi I am having a problem adding my ip WiFi camera to my nvr! Is it the same process I need to follow to get it to work, it works on my nvr but once I unplug the LAN cable it freezes and says not available. I’m lost what to do now because all I want is to you it for the Wireless feature not have a LAN cable attached as that. defeats the object. Can you give some info what I can do as I’m not very tech
The problem is likely either that: 1) power is not being given to the camera, so when you unplug it from a PoE switch you lose power to the camera. 2) you may be programming the cameras "wired" connection rather than it's 'wireless" NIC setting. or 3) Wireless signal at the mounting location isn't enough
If I had a ethernet switch that had more POE ports than the NVR's POE ports, how many cameras could i connect to it?
What software are you using?
Is it possible to connect the external switch to one of the NVR Internal Switch Ethernet ports (usually used for cameras) so that the cameras connected to the External Switch are assigned ip addresses from the nvr internal switch, so the cameras on the external switch appear to be on the internal switch’s network?
Yes, in order to use all the channels that NVR's or DVR's offer you need to use an external switch to add more cameras. Many NVR's and DVR's do not have all the ports needed in the back. For example, an NVR that can handle 32 Cameras may only have 16 ports available, you would need an external switch to add the additional 16 cameras. However if a recorder is not able to handle more than 16 channels, adding a switch to add over that capacity will not work. The key is, how many channels can your recorder handle.
Very helpful video. I have one question. When setting the IP addresses for the cameras using this process does the IP address become static so that they do not change when the router loses power or when the NVR reboots? Thanks!
if you are able to change the ip address of the ip cameras from the NVR, then the IP address of the IP cameras would be static. and nothing will happen if you reboot the network.
Thank you
I have an 8 ch POE CCTV system, I want to run it like how you have run the setup, can I do that with a TP link to a plug then Ethernet cable to the NVR and the POE switch?
I'm going to find out this information for you.
Can you describe to me more about the "TP Link to a plug" device? Most importantly, though, avoid looping a PoE switch directly into the onboard PoE. Powerline and wireless adapters will vary depending on bandwidth capabilities of the device and environment and any special network restrictions the device may use. Hopefully this helps! Let us know about the "TP Link to a plug" you're referring to in your post.
Question? I assume that the cameras run off of the Ethernet cable power as the dc leads are disconnected. Is this correct?
Yes, that is correct. As long as the camera is Power-over-Ethernet capable and connected to a PoE switch.
Mr. Sir Thanks a lot......lease may i request for a video clip on how to configure cameras both analog and I.P to the phone. Thanks
Hi =) please see this video. this should help you. ua-cam.com/video/Ysdsq3dn8zk/v-deo.html
Do we need nvr
Does the POE switch need an uplink port? My NVR network system will be separate from my internet network.
You can also connect the NVR LAN port into any available port on the PoE switch. It is recommended for the PoE Switch to have an UPLINK port so it can be connected to the Router. If the PoE switch does not have an UPLINK port then simply connect one of the PoE ports to the router. So basically everything would be connected to the PoE Ports on the switch. NVR, IP Cameras and Router.
can i connect a small 4-port poe switch and connect it to a regular 24-port switch that does not have poe?
Yes but the IP cameras always have to be connected to a PoE switch. Unless you provide power to the IP cameras using the 12VDC jack on each camera.
What is the name of the software you using for configurations?
Hi
How to connect ip camera hikvision with nvr different brand
Can I connet the poe switch directly to the pc?
nice video!! how do i add an IP camera to a DVR?
hello is it possible to do the same thing but creating a Point too Point with Ubiquiti antennas then connecting cameras under a poe switch and the switch poe under the reception antenna ubiquiti?
so that the cameras are seen?
Hi, You may use PtP Ubiquiti antennas to transmit data but will need to make sure the equipment can support the total bitrate of all cameras transmitting data. It is preferable to pre-configure IP addresses on the IP cameras when doing this if the PoE switch where the cameras are directly connected to are difficult to get to with a laptop because scanning tools may not find the cameras across the Ubiquiti equipment.
@@ENSSecurity thank you. can I ask you for help to make a plant? I have to understand how I have to do the job thankyou
Will this work on Mac?
I want to use 3 poe switches, where to connect the other 2 poe switches? Can i interconnect the switches and connect just one switch to the router via gigabit ethernet wire/port?
PoE switches they act just like any other network Switch. you can have many PoE switches connected in like a chain mode. if your PoE have an UpLink port then connect that to any available port on the other switches. As long as you have the IP cameras connected to a PoE port then you can connect the Switches any way you want as long as you don't exceed the maximum bandwidth of the Switch.
Hi what if i plugged a whole bunch of Cameras to the NVR and use another Switch to NVR and connect more cameras to the Switch will it work?
if you connect the NVR LAN port to the External PoE Switch and the switch to the router then it will work. if you connect the POE switch to one of the POE ports on the NVR, there might be a chance that it might not work. also, the NVR has a limit to the number of IP cameras that you can add.
