    Wow, "BEST" video's out there, you do a great job explaining and showing the repair, replacement and maintenance of these components. I just bought my 16 year old son a 1991 Isuzu pick up and it needs a few things that we will do together. I was a bit intimidated with the repairs so I bought a manual, it doesn't compare to your tutorials.........I think the things you discussed with your Trooper are very closely related to my son's pick up, and I have subscribed to your channel so if I need any review I can just choose one of your videos. Thanks for taking the time to make the videos.

      +Roy Michael Hey Roy, thanks very much for your kind words! I started making these videos mainly because I had a hard time finding information about Isuzus as well, so I'm really glad to hear my Isuzu videos have been helpful to you. Best of luck to you as you maintain your son's truck....check back often to see if any of my content can help. While the early 90s Isuzu engines are a bit different than the late 90s/early 2000s, there are probably some similarities in some of the other general vehicle systems. Another fantastic resource, which has taught me virtually EVERYTHING I know about Isuzus, is the website www.planetisuzoo.com. There are some incredibly knowledgeable and friendly people there that know MUCH, MUCH more than I do. So, if you ever get stumped, I would definitely recommend registering to post there and leave a question on the appropriate forum. I would almost guarantee you someone will reply within a day and will try to help you out.
      Tell your son to enjoy that truck! Hopefully the two of you can get some good bonding time over the next few years as you maintain it together. Thanks again for watching and commenting!

    Thanks for the very helpful videos Matt. I just did my Tstat and intake gaskets and your series was very helpful.
    I've cleaned my MAF a number of times on my 01 Rodeo and it didn't do squat for me. I sprayed cleaner just like you did through the screen. I then wound up removing the screen so that the two sensors were exposed. And even after all the spraying, they were black on one side and clean on the other. I took a qtip in 90% alcohol and very, very gently rubbed the sensors (the wires are very thin) and the black gunk came off. For whatever reason, all that accumulated grime on mine wasn't going to come off with a simple spray and needed some friction to remove it. After i did that, then I got the results I was expecting with better idle, etc. The sensors are housed in the metal part in between the plastic pieces. I think it was a torx bit to remove the screws to get to the sensors and their wires. I believe that the "working end" of the sensors are under the screen and even if the other (non screen side) looks good, if you have gunk on the screen side, the ECU is getting bad readings which lead to all sorts of problems with A/F mixtures. Just my 2 cents, but if you get ambitious and pull the MAF apart to take a look, you'll see what I mean.

      Jim Mc Thanks for the information, Jim! That is really helpful. Next time I change my air filter, I will look into this in more detail. Thanks a lot for sharing your insight!

    Unless you are also cleaning the throttle body there is no need to disconnect the tube at the throttle body. Just disconnect where the tube connects to the MAF sensor.

    Good video Matt. It’s an old one so I guess you have moved on from the Isuzu.

    Great video Matt. I just can't figure out how to undo the electrical connector by the throttle body. The connector on the mass air flow sensor come right off. Any hints? Thanks, Scott

    thanks for your video, really helpful. the question: may I use a WD40 or carb cleaner instead?

    • @mattpayne4087
      @mattpayne4087  7 років тому +1

      You're welcome! I'm sorry for my delayed response....I would not recommend using anything other than mass airflow sensor cleaning. Definitely do not use WD40 - anything like that will cling to the sensor and not evaporate, which can negatively affect the sensor's function. Mass airflow sensor cleaning will evaporate and not leave any residue, leaving the sensor clean and able to detect air passing through.
      Carb cleaner might work, but I don't know how it might negatively affect the sensor. I would definitely stick with cleaner specifically labeled for use on mass airflow sensors.
      Thanks for watching!

      I got it already, thanks. Since wd is oil-based, it will affect the cleaning. I used pure mesical spirit, which works great and much easier to get here, then special spray.
