Just got my blue T200. Of my 40 watches… ot is the most spectacular in finishing and capability. It is a beautiful watch and scratches my Grand Seiko itch perfectly
Have the original blue one now for several years. Whenever anyone sees my watch box of 30+ watches, many being magnitudes more expensive than the oceanus, people always comment how stunning it looks. Love it, wears well, beautiful.
I have Rolexes, Cartier, IWC etc. I bought this because I live in Mexico City and you can be invited to depart from your watch in any corner. I didn’t expect much more than a practical watch. Boy was I surprised. This is not accurate, it is the perfect time every second of the year because it updates with the satellite or your phone. It has perpetual calendar. It can let you find your phone by using the button in the watch. It is beautiful; just stunning. It’s the best watch I’ve had.
Great to see more love for Casio’s atomic watches - I bought a titanium Lineage (LCW line) a few years back and it’s my daily driver beating out dozens of way more expensive watches. Keep up the content Jody!
I've had one of these in blue for about 6 months and could not be more pleased with the quality and comfort. Here in the EU atomic clock radio signal is no problem so you never have any doubt about accuracy, I use it to set all my other watches by. Round the rim of the crystal mine shines with blue colouring, a very pretty touch.
I've owned an Oceanus since 2001, I wore it for 5 years my 30's and still have it in my watch box too. It was the chronograph model. Love it to this day!
I've always admired these and that green is a stunner. Case finishing is absolutely exceptional. A 41 always wears a bit too big for me, if they released this in a 38/39 with a 45-46mm l2l then I'd be all over it!
I know it’s got a few major differences from this one (most notably being titanium), but the OCW-S100-1AJF is a really slick 39x45 :-) Bought one for me and another for a smaller-waisted friend. Of course that model has different aesthetics, so it may or may not appeal to you.
@@curtisxxu It doesn’t wear like a 39 on smaller wrists. Mine are 6.5” and it wears true to size. It’s the absolute max I can get away w/. The long lug to lug doesn’t help.
Totally agree with you Gary. If it came out in those specs it would be in my basket within moments. There's probably thousands of like minded Japanese watch fans too with smaller sized wrists.
Guys, this is a sports watch, it doesn't matter, if lug to lug is not wider than the wrist. Rolex Date Just is 41mm, same is Omega Aquaterra. I bet you wouldn't complain about wearing those.
Casio, as always, has created a beautiful daily beater, which can be used as a watch, not as an accessory or status indicator. But, at the same time, they did not forget about style. Fabulous! Great job, Casio.
But these movements are sent to a Buddhist monastery where monks pray over the quartz crystals until they become cosmically linked in a grand symbiotic relationship that allows the second hand to be controlled by the monks from a distance. Via the mesmerizing and little understood mechanism of quantum entanglement the monk assigned to your watch clenches his butthole precisely once per second which halts the second hand exactly over each indicator on the dial. The insane precision with which the hands are aligned is matched only by the zaratsu...wait, are we talking about...sorry...wrong watch brand.
@@jprime84 From what I've understood, the Oceanus is actually great in that respect, especially since there's even a function for finetuning this, along with the date, in case they lose "center". Also important to remember when looking at videos, that due to perspective, the hand might seem as if it is not hit the indices, even if it is!
I've had a dark blue one for a couple of years now. GREAT watch but I had trouble getting a good fit with the steel bracelet. After a few swap-out trials with sailcloth, canvas, leather, and nato I finally found the best solution. Aliexpress has 20mm rubber straps (18mm clasps), in various colors, with curved ends and an adjustable clasp for under $20US. It looks and fits the watch head like it was made for it and the adjustable clasp makes for a perfect fit on the wrist.
I'm not a quartz fan, but I have the white dial version, and it's awesome. Finishing is outstanding for the price point. I use the Casio as a time reference when setting one of my automatics, and is great to put on quickly when you're running out the door and don't have time to set when of your autos that have been sitting idle, beyond its power reserve limit.
I've been looking for a solar watch for a while but just haven't found 'the' one I like. I will be buying one of these when the time comes. This review was brilliant and highlighted the case finishing very well. Every second was pretty much on the mark, and that makes such a difference when you have each tick to watch. We rave about the smoothness of an auto's sweep, but the sharpness of a quartz's precise tick is also pretty satisfying.
I think I solved your issue with the clasp. Your wrist roll shows you have 6 links before the clasp and 5 after, so the pin is hinged at an open angle. You can see around the 11:55 mark the clasp is on the “lower” hemisphere of your wrist using your tendon as the equator. If you move a link from the front to the back, it should balance the clasp on the flat part of the bottom of your wrist. 😊
I own the standard blue. You are very correct about the lume. It is not a torch like a diver watch but it is consistent. At 3 and 4 in the morning I can read it easily. 1. I wish the green was more accessible 2. I wish there was a 38 mm 3. I cannot figure out how you are supposed to have the watch above that green line in the app. I can’t do it if it stays out on the windowsill.
The tough movement should mean that the hands will keep hitting every indices even if they take a hit which moves them a bit, that's a big plus for a quarz watch to me
This one has the ability to reset the hands and zero them back to perfect, just in case it goes off from hitting all markers accurately due to shock or whatever.
I think you need to be a Casio fan to love it. The watch itself seems well enough finished but the bracelet is a bit grim. As for time keeping, I am all for my watches being as accurate as possible but I think that more to do with my OCD than how it affects my life. It doesn't matter if I'm wearing my Rolex (about 1 second a week) or a Seiko (about 5 to 10 seconds a day) the bus is still likely to be anything up to 40 minutes late.
I’m a proud owner of a T200 in blue. This watch looks superlative. The way it catches the light can’t be overstated. A fine candidate for those considering slimming down to a one watch collection. Really pleased to see this on your channel Jody.
I regret selling my blue dial one. I will buy one of these again, perhaps the Ice blue dial. It was perfect, wore amazingly and captured the light so dramatically because of the high polish. Probably the best watch in it's price range. :)
It seems like a watch i could buy. I am partial to quartz, i am a casio fanboy, and i like their atomic clock versions. This since i bought my first Waveceptor. Thank youfor your review.
I had this very watch in light blue, and it's the only I regret flipping. Since this is a newer version, I wish they used the clasp that's on the 4000. I was also annoyed that there's only a few hours window to see that it received the atomic clock signal. For instance, it would indicate "yes" early in the morning but "no" later that afternoon, unlike a Multiband G-Shock where it's more apparent. Strongly considering repurchasing this in either green or dark blue
I have the t200 and the t3000. Love them both, but i prefer the t200 because of the quiter dial layout. I checked my t200 and the marker align perfectly each time. I also connect bluetooth. Is perfect, always the right time, date, anywhere, anytime...
I've been using the S100 as my go to daily wearer. I still don't understand Casio's naming as the S100 is full titanium, yet their T200 is stainless steel. Hmmm...I think they missed an opportunity matching up the S and T for the models. Oceanus are great watches.
I live in Japan and this watch model is now almost impossible to find. After visiting many sales sites including Amazon or Mercari I was able to find only one in all of Japan and on Rakuten. I bought it without hesitation and receive it tomorrow. I hope I got a collector's item. Thanks for the video, after watching it I will have a hard time sleeping tonight thinking that I will receive the watch tomorrow.
It feels bizarre to say it, but this one’s visual aesthetic (esp in blue) reminds me so much of the previous-gen Zenith Defy Classic. I don’t know why I’m always tempted by this one as someone who loves his Tissot Gentleman and is seriously considering a blue Aqua Terra 41. 😂
I have a T200 blue as my everyday watch and I think it is perfect for me. I greatly appreciate the precision as it always keep perfect time thanks to the atomic clock. The hands look super sharp to the naked eye and the seconds hand hit the markers perfectly. I would appreciate a proper blued seconds hand though. Soon after receiving it about a year ago I upgraded to a quick adjust clasp from another Oceanus model, the T2600 I believe. That clasp is made from titanium but the mismatch doesn’t bother me much. Thanks for a great review!
A bit late here, but I wanted to leave you (and any other readers) a note to be careful when mixing metals, since they can sometimes fuse together in the long run, or so I've heard. Enjoy your watches!!
Hey Jodi. After watching, I wanted this watch. And guess what? The green ones are nowhere to be found. After weeks of searching I finally found a used one. So thanks for the video and thanks for the JDM buying tutorial!
Agreed. I own the Casio Lineage LIW-M700. A JDM watch that rivals the Oceanus 4000 and 5000 series with solar, atomic, sapphire, 3 inner dials etc for about $230!! Love my T200 but the LIW-M700 is amazing.
I really love this watch and it is the crown jewel of my watch collection. But what surprised me the most is that it made me appreciate my Edifice watches (S108D green version and S107D) a lot more for their light weight, slimness and beautyfull finishing that is allmost on par with the oceanus for a 3th of the price.
Got my green version via DHL a couple of hours ago. I think JOMW always has handsome and informative beauty shots of a given watch, but even so the video just doesn't do these justice. The light play is downright prismatic. Fantastic QC all around, including pinpoint second hand alignment. Really a stunning and entrancing object. Even if you're like me, with a function-focused tool watch heavy collection, you should really consider this one. Some stuff to be aware of, though: I installed the Oceanus-specific app to my Casio apps folder(!?), only to find out that they're killing support as of Sept. '22. Instead, this watch now can sync to the app one uses for the new solar Casioaks. Also, the bracelet uses pin-and-collar, which was the first time I've encountered it (I don't usually keep bracelets). Luckily I didn't lose any bits, and was able to figure out how to reassemble.
Excellent video Jody I purchased the blue one from Seiya last September, I had intended getting the limited edition grey on leather with extra NATO and removing tool but decided I could always get a good leather strap and I can tell you now you won't be disappointed when you swap out your bracelet which is the big plus the t200 has.👍
Great watch and wonderful video. Casio is a brand all too forgotten. These two models offer a punch for the money, and you're right, they're lookers for sure. I also liked that the second hand hit its mark every time...hard for many other quarts watches at this price. Cheers Mate
I have one of these Oceanus - just different dial colour. It is stupidly good. I put it on an ostrich leather strap and really only my GS is better. I have about twenty watches (all but two are quartz). This baby is the best value watch. I only have one complaint - what is it with these tiny date apertures? Anyway if this Plague ever ends and I can travel again this is the watch I will wear. No fuss with accuracy or batteries. And it has a feature that it will set itself to your country of destination. So when you are visiting ancient ruins in Pompeii (or Beirut if modern ruins are your thing ) it will adjust. Just a side note: I have bought five watches on Jody's reviews. Four Casio! Two Duros and two Edifices. (The fifth was a 1963 Seagull).
Got the notification for a new video coz you know I got that bell icon pressed for your vids! Read the video title and knew exactly which watch it was before the thumbnail and video even started playing. There can only be one at this price point. Love my T200 and my S100 Oceanus! Cheers
Rolex Sub oyster band fits on this watch like it was made for it. seriously. It's a weirdly perfect fit. Definitely raises questions about where casio got the specs for this case.
This has turned oit to be the one "hyped" watch i bought that wasn't hype...its simply that good. Had it for a while now,(on the bracelet as well, something i never usually do prefering straps in general)..and i honestly cant think of anything id take over this at any price pont except the Rolex op 41,and even then, the Rolex wont be as tough,or as accurate. The T200 is nothing short of one of the best watches on the market...period
I have the S100 black dial and the T150 light blue dial. The use of SS instead of titanium in the T200 is a deal breaker. This green dial isn't green enough.
It’s so annoying that Casio as well as Citizen and Seiko (though Grand Seiko makes some exceptions it seems) will not sell their best watches outside Japan. Given the reliability I’ve had from all three makers, I probably shouldn’t care that if I do buy a JDM watch they probably won’t honor the warranty here in the USA…
Very informative review. I'm a quartz guy and have long admired the Oceanus line. Two things have given me pause: buying from Japan (which you have solved); and what if the watch needs service? Terrific photography as well. Always enjoy the fun style of your reviews. I am a subscriber.
I'm really a fan of this line of watches. I don't know what your problem with the 4000 is because to my eye it looks beautiful. But either of them is an amazing watch, no more and no less!
So is the Oceanus above the Edifice? I also wish they would just go lithium not solar as the "lifetime" of the solar capacitor isn't much different than that of the much cheaper and readily available lithium battery. Also a watch over $200 should be screw back&crown.
Press down makes absolutely ZERO difference to water resistance. None, The crystal in all watches is press in,water resistance is down to the gaskets used, not screw down parts.
Brilliant review, I love a good set and forget type of watch. I have had my Citizen eco drive with perpetual calendar for well over 10 years and it’s never put a foot wrong. I also really like the addition of the dimensions during the tech spec portion of the video.
I really love the Oceanus range, they'd be sone of my grail watches. The slight misses of the indeces is a bit disappointing when their $40 to $50 watches are usually quite good.
I own the watch. Not sure why this wasn't mentioned either. It DOES have a self-alignment feature that resets the hands to factory settings if there's a drop or magnetic influence. Used this once on my watch and the hands hit their marks dead-on.
I have the T200. I could had bought any of the others but the T200 is the most beautiful of all my watches (including some pretty fancy ones). I very much prefer the blue though. I use it while riding e competition horses a day and it doesn’t have the slightest scratch in the sapphire nor the case. It looks like out of the box. You forgot to mention that you can use the watch to locate your phone.
Hi will tell you a secret about this 5235 quartz mouvement, notice de second hand tic every second, the minute hand tic 360 times every hour and the hour hand yes, tic 720 times every 12 hours, it is ticking one time at each minute and the date flash change at midnight at 0:00:00 amazing.
Had this one in blue. Great watch. In retrospect... the case and bracelet finishing on those is great. The dial and handset could have used one more pass at the factory, so to speak. On macro photos, the dial and hands do let this watch down a little bit. It's still great for the price, ofc.
I am a addicted to these atomic solars. Love the fact that it's fool proof dead on time keeping. Again, ADDICTING. That PRX green is splendid, too. Damn you Jody😈
Hey Jody, you should check out the citizen nb1050. It's the best sarb033/035 alternative imo. It has excellent finishing, is powered by a miyota 9000 series movement, 100m water resistance all for around 400 usd.
Nice looking watch but for that price, I expect titanium not stainless steel. I have the LCW-M100TSE-1AJF, which has titanium, radio sync, and solar and paid less than $200 USD (shipped from Japan).
great review as ever....at 3mins 16 I think the shade of the 2 watches is actually closer than the the comparison with the new one at 3mins 28 ..I can see the difference on the 1st comparison but think the 2nd comparison is further apart ...the new one looks almost black to me....maybe I need to go to specsavers :)

Cheers
Great now I want one! The case looks beautiful.
Ayyeeeeee! Chris you should definitely have a look at one of these. You'd love it mate. Cheers!
Water Resistance?
Does that seconds hand hit all the markers?
If there are no city names, how do you set your time zone for the automatic time?
Rolex Sub oyster band fits on this watch like it was made for it. seriously. It's a weirdly perfect fit. Definitely raises questions about where casio got the specs for this case.
"Thje" ?? Typo title alert Jody !
It's his ancient Norwegian roots coming out.
@@Chancer Are you casting doubt on Jodys Scottish great²⁰ grandmothers chastity ? 😲
Ayyyyeee! That's how we spell it in Glasgow.
Dang! Another "want"... for sure! "Thje" god tier! 😜 Cheers Jody, be well mate.
Nice looking sport watch. I'm pretty sure you ment to say Casio don't make mechanical watches and not automatic...
Nice big calendar window that makes a change.
Perfect size, and plain without being boring. 👌
I've been eyeing off the blue version of this watch for a couple of years now. Great to see you get your hands on one Jody.
Is it possible to swap the clasp?
Does the app allow the watch to have a countdown timer function?
Could the clasp not be upgraded by something longer with more adjustment ?
Although to accept a 19mm wide bracelet might well be an odd size.
Is there a black dial version of this?
Stunningly beautiful watch. Clean design, very functional.
I have this watch in the Blue...I set all my watch's from this one ! I love this watch! Great video 👍
Ur t200 dial looks black on camera with a green highlight so must be lighting ?
Very informative review. I'm a quartz guy and have long admired the Oceanus line. Two things have given me pause: buying from Japan (which you have solved); and what if the watch needs service? Terrific photography as well. Always enjoy the fun style of your reviews. I am a subscriber.
I'm really a fan of this line of watches. I don't know what your problem with the 4000 is because to my eye it looks beautiful. But either of them is an amazing watch, no more and no less!
Gorgeous, but damn 41mm😭😭😭😭
Why Casio why?
This is one favorite oceanus of all the models
Is the second hand lining up with the indices?
No, but the watch has a function to correct this with self-alignment. Did this once with mine and no issues since.
@@Zephyrdaze1819 cheers
So is the Oceanus above the Edifice?
I also wish they would just go lithium not solar as the "lifetime" of the solar capacitor isn't much different than that of the much cheaper and readily available lithium battery.
Also a watch over $200 should be screw back&crown.
Press down makes absolutely ZERO difference to water resistance.
None,
The crystal in all watches is press in,water resistance is down to the gaskets used, not screw down parts.
Congrats on the baby!
Brilliant review, I love a good set and forget type of watch. I have had my Citizen eco drive with perpetual calendar for well over 10 years and it’s never put a foot wrong. I also really like the addition of the dimensions during the tech spec portion of the video.
I have the same 200 and 4000. Both incredible watches.
You know what, I'm sold on this. It will be my second quartz, after my GS sbgn007. Great review and I'm off to source one.
There’s zero reason it shouldn’t hit the mark every time. Mine does and it has a reset feature if it’s not.
I bought the light blue face. Awesome watch. Looks fine on my 6.6” wrist. Thanks for the video!
Hi will tell you a secret about this 5235 quartz mouvement, notice de second hand tic every second, the minute hand tic 360 times every hour and the hour hand yes, tic 720 times every 12 hours, it is ticking one time at each minute and the date flash change at midnight at 0:00:00 amazing.
this is one of the best budget watches ive seen for ages
The hands I believe are a little shorter so they do not cover the settings like “Y, N, RC, STD, DST...”, when you are checking or setting them.
Been saving for this watch. It is my grail watch. Been salivating for this watch all year long.
It's honestly just a bit rude that Casio Japan keeps these for themselves 😒
Buyee, huh? Worth a shot. 🤔🤔
Had this one in blue. Great watch. In retrospect... the case and bracelet finishing on those is great. The dial and handset could have used one more pass at the factory, so to speak. On macro photos, the dial and hands do let this watch down a little bit. It's still great for the price, ofc.
I have this in black and it's very sharp. Thanks for the review.
I am a addicted to these atomic solars. Love the fact that it's fool proof dead on time keeping. Again, ADDICTING. That PRX green is splendid, too. Damn you Jody😈
I've always admired Casio's Oceanus watches. I'm thinking of getting one like in this video, except with a blue face.
Indecision between this GOD TIER or the OCW-S5000-1AJF. Might end buying both.
Wow - it does not escape my notice that the second hand is in perfect registration with the markers.
I have the LCW-M100TSE-1AJF, which has titanium, radio sync, and solar and paid less than $200 USD (shipped from Japan).
oh my goodness. every cut i can see on it is super sharp inclusive the tiny indices 💯
Nice find! You have me looking at prices. 👀
I have the blue one - great watch
Loving the AT t-shirt 👌
Beautiful watch🤗 loving the Aphex twin t-shirt aswell😎👍
great review as ever....at 3mins 16 I think the shade of the 2 watches is actually closer than the the comparison with the new one at 3mins 28 ..I can see the difference on the 1st comparison but think the 2nd comparison is further apart ...the new one looks almost black to me....maybe I need to go to specsavers :)
