It wasn't supposed to be called PC3, they made a spinoff simcade on purpose, but Codemasters forced them to call it that when they bought Slightlymad, because they didn't want the game to clash with Grid Legends. The real successor to PC2 was cancelled by EA when they bought Codemasters.
Slightly Mad Studios, the developers of the Project CARS games also developed Need For Speed Shift 2. So PC3 is literally Shift 3. It's made by the same guys and also owned by EA because Codemasters bought SMS and then EA bought Codemasters lol.
Forza still looks wrong to me. The cars look like they were made on a 21:9 screen and have been squished up for a 16:9. Every time I see forza it looks odd Edit: you know now that I look at it side by side with gt I think it is the angle of view that is off. It looks like they are using an angle of 24 to 35mm closer up to the back of the car where as gt is using 50 to 60mm from further away. It give forza a better sense of speed but it also exaggerates the proportions of the car. Gt is more in line with the human eye.
it was terrible. The nordschleife is borderline an entirely different track. It was also longer in the game. I remember I couldn't even get remotely close to IRL lap times. I thought I was losing my mind and when I would look at videos, the track looked so different. Then I read that someone measured it in game and found it to be way longer than what it says or should be.
I still have a copy. It looks great for its time and feels like what you'd expect from a simcade game from that time period.. I never really got a hang on the steering though😅
most of it is because they added a lot of motion blur on that game to make it look "realistic", I personally didn't like PGR 3 because it's capped at 30fps
GT7 looks, sounds and feels the best but when it comes to racing the AI on the Nordschleife I've had a lot of fun with Project Cars 3 the last couple of days. Custom Race Setup in GT7 is just a lot more cumberson to get a fun and competitive grid of cars going.
Almost all the recent games that's after 2015 or so are an almost accurate representation of the karousell(except Project Cars 3). However, older games, I think Gran Turismo 4, Assetto Corsa and iracing are a good recreation of the corner
Gran Turismo 4-6 are not laser scanned but the quality of their surveying tools are 99% there. Back in mid 2000s GT4 was a popular refresher sim for Nurburg folks, because they nailed the important bumps and reference points/landmarks for corner and braking. The tree placements are not random.

For iRacing the Nordschleife was released in December 2015. The year in the title is a bit misleading. You can’t compare iRacing from today with 15 years ago. The tracks has been constantly updated and so the physics. Compare any ~2010 Indy 500 race with one from the past 2 or 3 years and you will notice the difference (same goes with other updated tracks like Glen or newer tracks like Portimão or Austria). 👍🏻
It's just the year the game was originally released, it's not the version of the game in the video. The same for ACC, it was released in 2019 but the Nurburgring wasn't added till this year.
if a porsche 919 goes around this corner in real life at a hair under 100km how the actual fck does a ferrari 360 do it in 120.... some of these games are just silly.
That's because the track isn't scaled correctly. The corner in forza seems longer and not as sharp as the other games. Which isn't surprising for an arcade racer. If you want realistic then stay away from forza games lol.
