- Some very good reminds to our friend Georg at St.Ursanne - Les Rangiers 2006.
It was a great battle against his friend Reto Meisel. At the end Georg won this event but Reto did made a new track record for touring cars!

Have seen him live at Eichenbühl Hillclimb with this car when i was like 16 years old...There is NOT A SINGLE VID out there which matches the live experience of this car at all. So sad he isn´t there anymore... Ride in Paradise!

I can't understand what he's saying but he seems quiet and well mannered, almost introverted. It's odd to me that a lot of these race drivers often look and act how you would picture an accountant, not someone who lives on the edge of death and sometimes (unfortunately) too close to it. RIP.
He say="we have a Problem with our top speed "cutter" he stop to first the high turn around from the engine, he hope he find the riesen for the race tomarow and he say that one other driver with a fast car,not show on the track on practic time how fast he realy can drive on race time, and he say that 2 other fight with him for the win and he now that come fun for the race day for him and the other driver"! RIP Georg Plasa! That was such a sad day for hillclimb racing, and I always have the feeling he could´ve been saved if the spectators hadn´t been so preoccupied with taking photos and collecting debris as souvenirs...
And even the marshals that were the first at the scene did nothing to save him, they just headlessly ran around shouting.
Very sad, I strongly believe Georg could be alive today.

I try not to protect the spectators for the things you discribe but he died because of the massive g force and internal damage. You can´t help at this stage of an injury with first aid. It was just to much for his body. At the moment he hit the wall, it was over.
CF88DRUM Maybe you´re right. Maybe he couldn´t be saved anyway. I´m still very angry at the spectators and marshals, though, because they didn´t even seem to try to save him in the first place.
are there helicopters stationed around the track? Even with a cradle and artificial respiration... I agree it was infuriating to watch, but realistically the chances would have been slim because of the forceful sudden impact. The cars are very stiff, and there's not much to absorb the impact. With these cars its always better to have a longer duration crash in spectacular style than a sudden full stop. For future events I really hope they have improved safety standards in regards to training of marshalls, helicopters, first responders and trained emergency service personell stationed regularly around then track.
In a crash that severity, no one other than certified doctors should do anything to resuscitate the driver, as any ham fisted attempt to do that could potentially produce worse or even fatal results.. but it was certainly appalling to watch the lack of quick assessment of the situation as well as the deployment of medical team within a few minutes after impact. With that said, did somebody really take pictures and "take souvenirs?" I don't see anyone doing that in a video I watched.. I would like to think that they were just removing debris to clear off the road but.. disgusting if it really happened :(
+Prickly Pear anyone with a drivers licence should know what to do if first to the accident scene because that's mandatory knowledge.

wir begrenzen zu früh........... 246km/h :-) Absolut krank.
He was one of ... the very best ever and, a true gentleman . Seven years on since his untimely death nothing has been revealed about the cause of the accident ... mechanical failure, crew , health issue ..or one disastrous miscalculation .
Terminillo at speeds like Georg was reaching is a racing challenge without a doubt , I have traveled it as a tourist many times when in Italy ... still it is not as difficult as many others that he regularly raced and won... so why ? Why no cause has been found?
I believe it was mechanical based on the video footage just before the crash ... sparks, near flame like burst ,steering related , a possible assembly mistake , conjecture is not an answer.... but why leave many fans to mourn his death without naming the cause ? It makes no sense ... even if George`s crash was resultant from his own miscalculations of the turns he had committed to memory , he remains nevertheless a great racer ... if it was human error .. no shame can ever befall his name ... so many before him lost their lives due to one moment of inattention .
To leave his career long devoted fans such as I am wondering why , is far more painful than the actual cause

Auf Deutsch er war ein feiner Kerl und gerne hätte ich ein oder mehrere Bierchen getrunken und über unsere Leidenschaft des Motorsport geplaudert und das ich einen 323i hatte,den Urgroßvater seines 3er's! Wenn ich auch nicht weiße geworden bin,so habe ich lernen müssen,oft Schmerzhaft wie zb. hier,das Leben ist nicht fair und holt oft die Besten viel zu früh aus ihrem Leben! Verstehen werde ich das nie! Rip und danke für die schöne Zeit mit dir,wenn auch nur als Zuschauer und Bewunderer deiner grossen Kunst!!

Its a Judd V8 I guess a 3.5 liter further Formula 1 engine, but I'm not a 100% sure. may be somebody else can clarify
N/A V8 Engine from Judd, ~560 bhp at over 10.000 rpm, originally build for Formula cars and Le Mans Prototypes

Mmh. I was told that Nascar cars all use ethanol without any petroleum additive in it. The added benefit to ethanol is that your engine runs cooler and stronger, with it being so cheap and renewable. Since then, I like to know on which type of fuel the engine I see runs. Thanks again!

Georg Plasa and his cars show that u dont need 1000+ hp to be the fastest person on the hillclimb.
some of his records are unbroken till this day with less then 600hp and a silhouette that still resembles are "normal" car.
I can't forget its sound and its alcohol smell

He had this amazing car from the videos and ran a ton of Swiss hillclimbs as seen in the videos. In 2011 he crashed into a cliffwall and died on impact isch. But the videos of what is argueably the greatest sounding racecar of all time (or very close to it) remains behind on YT. I think Plasa videos for the 3 main Swiss hillclimb channels (MPZ and 2 others) make up a total of 20 million views. Just for ONE racecar because of the epic soundtrack.
i´ve seen him live with this car, no video comes even close to the real experience of seeing this car being driven properly. more than 10 years ago and i still get goosebumps

Was ergaben denn nun die Ermittlungen der Staatsanwaltschaft, weshalb Er vor die Wand fuhr?
Hab mal gelesen das sie vermuteten das die Lenkung gebrochen ist... war ein alter Beitrag warscheindlich gibt es schon neue sachen darüber...
Es wird vermutet dass er zwei fast gleiche Streckenabschnitte verwechselt hat. Die Strecke ist ja 15km lang, da kann es sogar einem Vollprofi wie ihm passieren.
Das die Lenkung gebrochen ist denke ich nicht. Mann sieht ja auf dem Video dass das vordere linke Rad nach rechts eingeschlagen ist.
Und normalerweise müsste er in der Kurve im 3. Gang sein, er war aber im 5.

wie zum Henker kommst Du auf 246 kmh? Dies ist nirgends zu lesen! Bei der Brücke sinds 206, nicht 246 kmh. Seltsam, Zudem ist Plasas Auto bestimmt nicht so schnell.....nirgends in StUrsanne!
hast du ein anderes video angeschaut ? georg hat das selber im video gesagt, dass er „nur“ auf 241 anstatt der gewünschten 246 gekommen ist.
