The interior in my 9-3 still looks like new, but I'll try this on my 9-7X. One of the reasons I bought it was because it was the only one I could find without half the buttons worn off. A few of them could use attention though.

Yep! All of the buttons on my 08 Lexus ES 350 have started peeling. eBay has the decal sticker but it’s darker and doesn’t match. 😔

Bro my wife 2016 x4 the air conditioner on and of button is peeling I did what you did. It came out good. I just cleans some of the loose coating and practice on an old part I had laying around. It came out good thanks for the idea. I went to Micheal’s and they have so many markers. I got one made my sharpie not the regular market it was oil base. Thanks again

I have the exact same pen and it works great, temporarily, on the black buttons of my Ham radio handheld unit. The only problem is that it wears off after a few day. I will try multiple coats this next time to see if the longevity is improved.

My 2008 9-5 hasn't experienced button peel yet. What I was wondering if it would be wise to put some sort of flat enamel on the buttons as a preventative measure? Do they have a clear pen?

I wouldn’t worry about that too much just be glad that it still runs and that you can get parts for it for a couple more years. I’m sure you won’t be doing any car karaoke with Jerry Seinfeld. This is what happens when GM takes over a dying multi military/automaker that doesn’t know which direction it’s heading. Even there name was weird. Just drive it and enjoy what’s left of it for maybe a few more years or till the next weird mechanical issue that will arise. I would buy a automotive towing plan to help you in the future.
