I love that you're kind and patient. I'm intrigued about the different culture in the sense that in my country(in a government hospital), if a doctor looks tried, then they're trusted and respected more because people feel like they're in demand because they're good at their job and are hard working. On the contrary, if a doctor is wearing eye make up or anything, people wonder how come we got time for that. And it gets a little borderline judgemental. And because It's humid in may parts of the country and hospitals are not air conditioned, make up doesn't stay. I'm glad you are taking care of yourself and are working hard. Thank you for this video. It was so refreshing. Thank you for your compassionate heart.

I totally agree - night shift gave me time to do errands! I typically would do things after work (so, 8am!) if needed, then go to bed at 10am and up again at 6pm (basically flipped 12 hours). My nights would be 8pm - 8am usually for reference.
2-4am was always the "quiet" time, 8-11pm were always crazy busy! I always said I was putting out small fires and slowing large ones.

@Jess D you’re extremely rude. doctors and nurses have food available for them as well. not everything in the hospital is designated solely for patients. and you are ridiculous if you think a cup of jello is why hospital bills are so expensive. i mean it’s not like there’s a zillion machines running at all times in the hospital...
not to mention, doctors and nurses still have to be presentable. she did her hair and makeup before leaving her home so idk why you felt the need to call her shallow. she’s a human being saving lives. she needs to eat when she’s hungry so she can have a little energy. grow up and start respecting people. she’s out here in the middle of a pandemic saving people.

In Turkey, the work life of a junior surgery resident is so much more cruel. In first year of the residency you get 15 nightshifts in one month! (Sometimes even more, a friend of mine who is a plastic surgery junior has 17) And worst of all, We don't have off mornings on the same day we have night shifts. They're literally combined. It goes basically like this: you wake up, start your day shift around 8 am, end your day shift at 4, then stay for the night shift (you get to eat if you re lucky) work through the night with no sleep, in the morning you re exhausted but you go on! You still work from 8 am to 4 pm. And finally after 4 pm, completing 32 hours you get to see the sunlight, thats when you get to go home, shower and sleep. Then you wake up and start the whole thing again! Because you have 15 of these in 30 days. So in one week the day shifts are 8*7=56 hours, the nights are 3*16= 48 hours. The government pays only 7 of your nightshifts, cuz by the constitution you re only allowed for 7. In reality they just dont care.
In just one week you work for 104 hours! And you'd think that you get the money you deserve for the long hours, but you'r not. Its about 10.000 turkish liras in month, which is 1283 us dollars!
That's what you get living in a 3rd world country.

Less money but more life (I think). I respect doctors who love to be waken up to save lives. I used to love it but its time to save my life now.
