In Turkey, the work life of a junior surgery resident is so much more cruel. In first year of the residency you get 15 nightshifts in one month! (Sometimes even more, a friend of mine who is a plastic surgery junior has 17) And worst of all, We don't have off mornings on the same day we have night shifts. They're literally combined. It goes basically like this: you wake up, start your day shift around 8 am, end your day shift at 4, then stay for the night shift (you get to eat if you re lucky) work through the night with no sleep, in the morning you re exhausted but you go on! You still work from 8 am to 4 pm. And finally after 4 pm, completing 32 hours you get to see the sunlight, thats when you get to go home, shower and sleep. Then you wake up and start the whole thing again! Because you have 15 of these in 30 days. So in one week the day shifts are 8*7=56 hours, the nights are 3*16= 48 hours. In India residents don’t have a separate “night shift”. Once or twice a week, we do night duties along with our regular duty on our units outpatient day so basically we end up working for 36 hour straight with barely 1 hour of sleep.
You can reuse the n95 mask by keeping it on a garments steam jet - it will be above 60°c and will kill covid please perform this this before you end the day. But if you get a new one every day then awesome
Love following you on UA-cam and social media, really motivates me through med school, keep doing what you do!! You mentioned wanting to figure out how to give us a bit of insight on what you are learning, i highly recommend you Violin MDs channel, she's become a pro at doing exactly that in her vlogs!!

Do you feel unmotivated often? I’d imagine it’s quite difficult to find the motivation to do the work you’re doing. You’re a serious inspiration:)
Great vlog! I would love to see more blogs about your days and nights in the hospital, and maybe a video on the biggest lessons you’ve learned in residency

Been a Family physician and ER specialist for many years now. Love the job, but the physical and mental exhaustion made me rethink my future. Going into investigation and Nuclear medicine. Less money but more life (I think). I respect doctors who love to be waken up to save lives. I used to love it but its time to save my life now.
Congrats, you're awesome! (And beautiful).
You are so absolutely beautiful and strong!!!! Thank you for everything that you do, you are a hero and you are an inspiration! I am an aspiring doctor and I love to look up to heroes like you!! Thank you for being amazing, keep doing you! ❤️
I end up rubbing my eye liner off by the end of my shift cause my face gets sooo oily on a night shift!

I don't know who you are
But I know people like you are the reason we can sleep peacefully 🙂
Wish you and your loved ones an amazing year 2021 take care 🙏❣️
Thank you! Very sweet message and I really do appreciate it. Happy new year to you as well!
This was cool. I’ve worked in healthcare all my working life and I just never get tired of the hospital atmosphere! Don’t get to see heaps of that now I’m in the mortuary.
Thank u for taking us to a little tour of your day. Stay safe!
Thank you, and you as well!
I can‘t physically wait until this is my life
Step by step, trust me, you'll make it happen soon!
Bless you, thank you so much for what you do. I can only imagine how taxing it can be on your mental state at times (for obvious reasons) and seeing how much time you take for yourself by eating healthy and doing yoga makes me so happy.
She is doing such an exhausting job with such a beautiful smile, thats an inspiration 💕
Your life and your career have so much value because you are helping people and you make a difference.
Thank you for documenting what your day is like! I’m a premed student right now, but I became an EMT to see if I could handle the long hours, crazy traumas and hospital life. While I’m far from being a doctor, ik how uncomfortable the ppe can be and how long those shifts can get. So again thank you for these videos and for everything that you do!
Thank you for the kind comment Tay!

10 seconds in and there is already waaay too much glamour in your life for a trauma surgeon... how do you do it 😩
this is such an interesting video! love the vlog format-- i can't wait for more! I am an EMT and a youtuber as well and will be applying to med school next year, and you're such an inspiration! just subscribed! ❤️❤️
Hi Alexandra, so glad you loved the format. Ill be working to upload more so I'm glad you subscribed!
I sure don't want to end up as a trauma patient but seeing this foxy lady would make the experience a bit better.
Vlogs like these need to be shown in schools around the world.
aw this makes me so sad, I wanted to study medicine so badly and applied 3 times but got nowhere near getting in :(
It's ok, but dont give up. If you want to be a nurse or any kind, dont give up what you want to be.
Become a PA!! they make amazing money and are very respected in the medical field! School is only 2 and a half years and they have extremely flexible schedules!!
Go to bulgaria🥰
@@alizoula how come ? :o
@@auzzpanda3497 everyone gets accepted! Check out medical university of Sofia or any university in Bulgaria,
Romania etc =)
It’s very common for people in Europe to study in those countries when they don’t get accepted in their home universities . Then you can work in whatever country you want.
Fees are about 5.000-10.000€ a year depending on the university that you will choose.
great vlog Dr. I enjoy it ; I would appreciate it if you do a vlog about your beginning of your journy as OMFS , what’s the difficulties and how you got through at them all , So I like your Channel lot .💙💙
I want to become a CT Surgeon I just graduated in May but Covid really messed up so many plans. Anyway, I applied for a job with CITYMD as a Med scribe (praying I get it) while I pay to get EMT-B certified. I want to study for my MCATs but I like to study in libraries so I’m hoping they reopen soon. While I take classes online that I need to finish up doing , thank you for motivating me.
You are a hero. Thank you for working and saving lives. I will keep you in my prayers!!😭♥️🥰🥰🥰🙏🏽🙏🏽
Thank you so much Taylor!
I wanna be your patient. Not in some creepy way, but to really appreciate the actual hard work that goes behind the scenes. You most certainly inspire a lot of young women out there, humanity is better off with people like you in it. Loads of love.
She literally wakes up looking flawless!!
You're a beautiful Doctor 😘
I'll be a Doctor and get to wear my scrubs someday. Amen 💓
You are the perfect woman. Very smart, independent, beautiful as heck no man deserves you.
Please appreciate her saying “I go see the patient, instead of just prescribing medication” coming from an acute neuroscience nurse, respect.
Hi Dr. Rabah, with all the work you do as a busy nurse. You keep yourself very attractive. God Bless you!
I’m so happy I came across your page! I am a premed student studying for my mcat. I can get demotivated at times and go on UA-cam to watch medical vlogs, but this time around I feel as though I see myself through you! (Hope that made sense lol) anyways thank you, I feel so excited ...to study!
Don't give up! We all struggle with up and down motivations. Im glad to hear you have found youtube vlogs to help motivate you. Its a grind but it will be worth it in the end
Dr. Rola Rabah thanks so much!

Thanks for sharing what it’s like on nights! I see you still eat “breakfast” food even though it’s afternoon haha
Yes I do, I try to make my days as normal as possible but sometimes its not easy!
I appreciate that you are working on the frontlines protecting us, risking your life. It must be a pain wearing those masks all the time! Best wishes, stay safe, Zoe
Can keep watching this because she keeps us w us while taking care of her job , w the editing too like short but straight to the point like impressed . Love your videos and shows how hard working u are
In India residents don’t have a separate “night shift”.
Being a doctor is like being a lawyer i think it so hard in some circumstances your really beautiful DOC.
Salute to you doctor, always stay safe! I hope I can also be a surgery resident few years from now. 3rd yr medical student here 👋🏽
I can't imagine going to school for as long as you have to and then working these crazy hours!!
Brilliance, compassion, competence, and beauty all wrapped up in one package.
