I just couldn’t stop smiling while watching this! Every time Dr. David Hindin said a pro, con, and what’s its like to be a trauma surgeon I was like “I WANT TO DO THAT”. The feeling you have when you know exactly what you wanna do in life is amazing. Thank you Kevin Jubbal! Your videos are very inspiring!
Trauma surgery was one of my favorite rotations in med school. In all specialty choices consider your lifestyle, call schedule, shifts vs normal work hours etc.
I respect the hell out of trauma surgeons. You have to be a jack of all trades, and to think quickly on your feet while the person you’re trying to help is nearly dead. Nothing can be more stressful... I couldn’t do that
Please do oncology! I think it's an interesting topic and one that is not adequately covered by UA-cam, Internet or even most medical schools. Thank you so much for everything!
This seems like the perfect field for me. I have been working in various ERs over the past 3 years and the fast pace and unpredictability is exactly what I love about emergency medicine but in this case it includes the surgical element which has always fascinated me. Appreciate the video Dr. Jubbal!
I've been subscribed for a year or so, but this is the first video I've watched in a while. It's just as entertaining and informative as I remember. Good job!
OMG, you know, I really want to study medicine, I'm on that path but I've never thought too much in specialities, like, I am the type of thinking that along the way of the career I'll discover what I am born for and I still think like that bc everything sounds great BUT I just watched this and suddenly I felt this "life discovery", like just the thinking of doing it amazes me, you know, my eyes are literally sparkling, maybe is what you call "the calling", I'll put it in my list of potencial future speciality for me. Thank you very much for this video.
Very thankful for this video. I’ve been waiting for this video for months! Thank you Med School Insiders, this video really helped me. I have been aiming my career towards being a trauma surgeon for a while now and this only solidified my career choice in my mind
I’d love to see episodes about less known carrers within medicine (that still deal with patients, not administrative, even though would be a nice addition at some point), the careers that are often forgotten and med students don’t really know are an option
Yes! So glad to hear from Dr. Hindin! I'm currently on my trauma rotation right now. We did a laparotomy and diaphragm repair yesterday! It's been quiet last month but things are starting to pick up as people as more lax about social distancing :(
Super excited to get into the field of medicine! I've started documenting my journey as I've already finished my medical science undergrad, but I just want med school to start already!!
WOW im still med student and it really helps me alot and i think this trauma surgeonlife is really portrayed in one asian drama Dr. ROMANTIC its really impressive with all the details and such inspiring drama
I love trauma surgery. And all the reasons have been put forward. First, it means that I have to be a general surgeon, and second I love the big operations 😊
Can you please do gastroenterologist or neurologist? You should also start a series abt how these specialties are gonna be affected by modern technology, machine learning, and robots through interviews w experts. Thank u!
So you wanna be fetal/ped surgeon. From both obgyn and general surgeon routes. From prenatal to postnatal intervention. Also , including neonatal aspects to take care of newborn
Thank you A physician who focuses on the identification and management of severe injuries is known as a trauma surgeon. Trauma doctors are in charge of giving patients who have life-threatening injuries, such as gunshot and knife wounds, car crashes, burns, and falls, immediate medical treatment.
I would like to see a "so you want to be a family medicine doctor." It's an expansive field that I did not realize how much you could do in until I did my own research. Plus, it typically matches some of the highest numbers of medical students each year, so I think a lot of people could benefit.
Terrific video, definitely the one I was most interested in. One question Dr Jubbal, is it possible for you (or Dr. Hindin) to comment on the average compensation for Trauma Surgery?
I don't know about the other EU countries but in DK Trauma surgery is a subspecialty of orthopaedics - They operate most fractures (while knee/Hip/Shoulder+elbow doctors do alloplastics). Also they place chest tubes but anything other than that inside the T-shirt and trunks area is General surgery. They do not have any training in thoracic, vascular or general surgery.
Great video Kevin! Have you considered doing a PhD vs MD? I don’t mean a MD/PhD combined but how very different the two degrees actually are (and how a double doc is very different from a straight-on PhD). Would raise some eyebrows perhaps. Keep up the good work
my requests: 1. Anesthesiology 2. Radiology 3. Anything else non-surgical also: is it still worth it to go to med school if I know that I could not be a surgeon? I have a minor hand injury, that I do not think will go away, on my dominant hand that I am pretty sure would prevent me from doing surgery.
Hi, I'm a first-timer on your page but I was really intrigued with all your videos and how helpful and insightful they are. I haven't seen a video about anesthesiology yet. Can you please do a video of becoming an anesthesiologist?
*Had a blast making this with you, man!*
Always a pleasure
