A lot of people just see a bad guy (the abusive male) and a good girl (the mom). But the law doesn't see good people or bad people. It just sees permissible and impermissible actions. While her desire for vigilante justice might be considered righteous to some, it's not permissible.

A woman calls the cops
She is wielding a knife
The man is sitting calmy on the sofa
She said she was going to stab him
She advances on him with a knife and grabs his controlling hand.
She gets shot.
I have dealt with domestic disputes where women have punched themselves in the eye, and then gone down to the door security and tried to persuade us to beat up her ex-boyfriend. Until you know what has transpired you cannot assume a thing.
For all we know, she was just trying to get him arrested out of revenge.
The cops showed up, there was a crazy shouting lady with a butchers knife, who was moving in a dude she SAID she was going to stab.

All she had to do was run out of the apartment with her daughter. The man was sitting down in a corner. He was no threat at that time.
The woman was at the FRONT DOOR, with a knife in her hand, she could have, along with her daughter, left the apartment with the officers, instead, she threatened to stab her boyfriend and went deeper into the apartment with the knife and confronted her boyfriend with the knife when she was shot.

Imminent danger of great bodily harm or death justifies lethal force. Taser could miss or not work, allowing the woman to fatally stab the man. Cop made the right call and nobody is liable for the woman's death but herself.
We are all responsible for teaching our children about integrity and how to behave. We could stop or at least greatly decrease incidents like these by properly rearing our children.

They could have talked to her to put the knife down , maybe shot a warning shot or Taser like the officer passed a Taser to her partner. When a woman is getting beat she may not be thinking clearly so the deputies should take that into consideration before that shoot to kill mentality sets in. Totally uncalled for shooting. THINK!!! ALTERNATIVE TO SHOOTING THE VICTIM. Even the punk ex-boyfriend questioned why the officers shot her dead. That one officer had the taser and could have deseculated the situation by just tasing her or talking to calm her first. She was murdered.
