    Thanks, you have just given away our secret. Was the way of eliminating use of downrigger and is much more versatile than using downrigger. Having pole in hand allows better feel and hook set than waiting for slack line from rigger to come taut

    There's a book called Ray Rychnovsky
    The Troller's Handbook it has all different of trolling at different weights for different depths including diwnriggers and lead core line. Been using it for years . Hard to find now. But it will tell you everything . There is a formula to figure it all out. But he does it for you. Check it out .save you a lot of time out there.

    okay, i like the red chart and simply snapped a quick pic for future reference. quick question tho on trolling speed ok. Can you look out to say your right side on the shoreline
    pick an object like a tree stump or big rock then count how long it takes to reach it to determine how fast your trolling? my helix doesn't tell me automatically unfortunately.

    Cal, to get a baseline, when you troll the trigger spoon naked, what do you get in depth when trolling the typical speed you troll that at? Seems like you could remove that baseline and then use the depth for things like trolled worms .. thanks !

    Amazing timing on this topic! I was just researching this yesterday because I want to troll at 3.8 mph with spoons for browns on Shasta down to 20' range. Any tips?

      Fish are in the 20-40' right now, running optimizers ur going to need 3+oz. Use a downriggers or a diver.

      Rob H 12lb balls? Or more?

      @robhower 3 роки тому

      @@terryhopper1147 we don't really start using 12# till we start getting about 50'+ we generally 8or10# till then. But if ur going to be running Opti. stick with the 12# . Lot of kokanee are in the 30-40' range as well. Getting warmer weather 95°+next week. But I will change to12# soon. Good luck 🎣

    Great information Cal. How deep are you fishing Collins right now? Giving it a try Thursday.

      The fish have been between 15-30' for the last week. Stagger your gear and dial it in as you start getting bites. We will be out there Thursday as well. Hopefully, you hear the FHS Horn blowing. ~Wes

    Will divers get you down to their listed depths regardless of gear? Or they just as variable as weights?

    • @FHSTackle
      @FHSTackle  3 роки тому

      Divers will get you super deep. I run Dipseys that will get your down to 80...Now you will need a bit stiffer rod and braided line to handle a Dipsey like that, but they will absolutely get you down...
