It's an amazing concept, but he built it the hard way, and it was clear from the get-go its stiffening-rod would let it wobble like jelly.
Chuck an aluminum tube in a lathe and machine the frets in directly. A 20 minute job at most. For extra rigidity, a thick pine dowel down the tube.

The bassiest and smoothest parts are ironically just the original bassline, which is INCREDIBLY underrated for how good it is, davie is mostly repeating the vocals on the bass with a spice of slap n pop

If Miki was still alive she would have been astounded to see people especially outside of Japan like her music. I mean she was 19 when she did this song in 1979. Just goes to show how the power of technology and the internet can bring out songs that were once hits in other countries out to the rest of the world today for people to listen to.
And not only that but she also disoovered she had cancer and was ending her career to spend time with her family and kinda regretted doing this song at the time or so i read. And to see it become so popular i wonder how shed feel

This video really made me respect you as a musician and youtuber. Im japanese and today a lot of younger people dont even know this song, but to hear a global youtube star casually drop a 80s japanese song on his channel really blows my mind. Its clear you love what you do and its amazing

CityPop is an INCREDIBLY popular genre right now with younger people. I know you may think this song is obscure, but it's anything but. A lot of huge stars are doing CityPop covers, CityPop songs, etc. Gabi Belle for example just did a cover/interpolation of Plastic Love in a new song. Caitlin Myers is a well-known English CityPop singer here on UA-cam with millions of subscribers. Trust me, CityPop is not an obscure genre anymore.
This song reminds me of the happier times when Davie used to upload every week. Wherever he is, whatever he is doing, I hope he's slapping happily.
