I don't listen to KPop, but I notice there's a lot of talented musicians in Korea like the ones on 네이버 NOW. There's also great jazz musicians (I'm subscribed to Jazz Music Korea :))
Sunmi is a funny story. Wondergirls was a k-pop group. The usual. Major company, singing and dancing kind with your normal overproduced songs, one of top most popular groups for a time. Then one day two members Yeeun and Yubin decided to change it into a band where they write and perform their own songs, but forgot to get Sunmi on board. Yeeun was playing piano for like 12 years at that point and Yubin was playing drums for about 3 or 4. Lim was super excited and chose guitar. Sunmi was the last of the 4 members remaining to pick up an instrument, and the showcase video the clip of which you show alongside the first few live concerts where she actually plays bass was only a handful months like 8 months or so after she started learning. She was picking it up quickly. Today the band hasn't been together for 8 or so years, after they did the band thing for a couple of years and it wasn't working too well since there's maybe one k-pop TV show which will actually allow you to plug in your instruments, and today Sunmi is a successful independent singer-songwriter and she still plays bass. Oh maybe also check out Luli Lee.

She might not be in a normal idol group but her study ethics make her an actual idol.
If you ask Korean bassists who's their favorite bassist is, 8/10 would say Marcus Miller. His style heavily influenced young bassists back in the early 2000s.

In general a basist in Korea is also a minor position comparing with another musicians. Typically you can find basists on the KPop bands, for example YoungK in DAY6(데이식스) at 4:27, Wonsang Cho in LUCY(루시) at 5:30, and JunKi Shin in BUZZ(버즈) (The famous song including lot of bass parts is "나에게로 떠나는 여행"). Of course, there are famous indie rock artists, Broken Valentine, SILICA GEL, SE SO NEON, YdBB, and so on. Some broadcasting companies also made TV shows for bands, Great Seoul Invasion(그레이트 서울 인베이전) at 8:10, NANJANG(문화콘서트 난장), and ONSTAGE(온스테이지) (but this program was not made by a broadcasting company, but IT compnay instead.)
