As a person who loves Jazz all I can say is that "you did real good", believe that. That collection reminds me of a friend of mine who you would go to his house on Friday afternoon and leave Saturday night and the only reason you went home was to get something to eat and change clothes. Those were the days 👍👍😄
I love seeing hauls like this--just choice finds. Amazing. A few months ago I lucked into a small collection on Facebook marketplace and the small jazz amongst boxes of Ferrante & Teicher and musical LP's (My Fair Lady, anyone?) absolutely still make me feel tickled. Original copies of: Gabor Szabo - Dreams Coltrane - My Favorite Things (Mono) Miles Davis - Round About Midnight Miles Davis - Someday My Prince Will Come Horace Silver - Blowin' The Blues Away Ike Quebec - Blue & Sentimental There was more in there that I still cherish. Something I try and do with every collection (particularly if it's from someone who passed away) is learn the stories behind the records. The guy I bought from was a widower and husband was a cop who passed away from cancer after cleaning up debris after 9/11. His partner wanted to pass the music on to someone who would appreciate the records and really play them. We don't always get in the chance to learn these stories (I don't ask thrift stores to tell me the stories of the records, of course), but it helps to remind me that these records are carrying even more than just they music they hold within them.
Wow dude, that’s the coolest haul ever! I’m opening a record store on the Oregon coast in April I would be over the moon with a collection like that. Jazz is my favorite, what a cool thing to be able to have that stuff in a local record store. Nice work 👍👍👍
This is the stuff that really blows me away. My god, I would kill for all this stuff - just some of the most important music of the last 100 years. Stunning!
I don’t get jazz music and never will but I still recognize a great haul. I’m also with you on the keeping things sealed, music is made to be listened to, not to be purchased and put on a shelf.
Bud I am so happy for you that you were able to add some major ones to your collection. I remember the story about the Saxophone Colossus. Even though they are not mine it makes me smile to see a friend be blessed. CONGRATS MY FRIEND!
Congrats on Soul Station and the amazing collection. If anyone is looking to get interested in jazz, it's the first record I recommend. melodic, catchy and a crowdpleaser. Every track is genuinely awesome. It's def one of the best jazz records of all the time and stands the test of time amongst jazzheads.
Moanin' is one of my favorite jazz albums of all time. In a way it's kind of sad that it was never played, esp. if it's just a repress. Very nice haul!
Congratulations on the collection. So many records and so little time to hear them all as they should be heard. Have a wonderful time immersed in your new acquisitions! Peace! “If more people listened to jazz there would be fewer wars and little crime” - anonymous
Just started collecting records after i got my first turntables for xmas and im so excited to build the collection, just found the channel and am loving it so far man. Keep up the great work
Killer collection and that’s awesome how close it was to you! Definitely pays to get to know people! Those locals are going to have a treasure trove to dig through! You definitely don’t see this kind of jazz heat in such exceptional condition as much today!
Great gooly moogly!!! Fabulous purchase. Jazz is my thing and would def. keep all of what you kept. Your seller may have primed you a little, but you got killer stuff. This keeps my hope alive for finding more great stuff like this! All the best!!! Oh, if it’s your record & you want to open it, go for it. ❤️
Wow what an unbelievable find. So many great albums and some original pressings still sealed! Makes you think how many of these types of collections are just sitting around waiting to be found.
man, those blue notes sound so good. I found a good one recently from the 60's in mint condition...double lp with big thick cover.... in a junk store for 5 bucks.
Congrats on another awesome haul my friend. I was sitting here praying that A Love Supreme OG was going to pop up :) If you ever stumble across one I better be your first call lol! Take care my friend.
Man…….. I Wish I Could Get Into Jazz…. I’ve listened many, many times and just can not appreciate for what it is….. 🤷🏻♂️ Great haul and good luck… thanks…
For decades I only dabbled in jazz but since the Pandemic, for some reason, jazz music really clicks with me. You never know when your mind will discover a new musical craving.
Impressive! Soul Station is one of my favorite albums. I started getting really into Hank Mobley about 7-8 years ago. I'm glad Blue Note has been reissuing a lot of his stuff.
Fantastic stuff. You can’t blame the seller for wanting top dollar - much of what he had would be unrepeatable and sealed vintage records are bound to be worth a premium even over the best copies which have been played (rightly or wrongly!). Also, you must be looking at the product of, what, 20 or 30 years of dedicated collecting? Probably more. So the seller deserves to be rewarded for the effort, and for being such a careful custodian of that stuff. Now it can be disseminated into the community and make 500-plus other people happy! Thanks for sharing this Dillon - one of your most enjoyable videos ever, for me.
Love ya, Dillon! So sad to see you pull down the post yesterday. MUSIC SHOULD BRING EVERYONE TOGETHER. In an insane world, a reasonable man becomes a target.
I’ll repost it later, just wasn’t worth it. Everyone was focusing on the controversy and not the music and I wasn’t willing to foster that division on my channel. ✌️
Damn Dillon those jazz pieces are so amazing my dream I hope one day to own Hank Mobley Soul Station . Wow That Sonny Saxophone Collosus man congrats man I have to take a trip to your shop man I have to watch this video again so many grails thanks for sharing . Lovellandrew
Damn, I just knew that this video would be special when I noticed you were holding my *most favourite* jazz album of all-time *[ Hank Mobley - Soul Station ]* in the thumbnail.
OMG: here drooling with envy...jealousy....650 great jazz records!! wow, maybe I could afford only 1 🤣congrats. and thanks for sharing...🎵👍grrr no emoji for vinyl....💿
Nice score, indeed. Wow, I salivated when you held up Bill Evans' Waltz for Debby, a long time favorite, as is the Cannonball Adderley (Something Else). I actually think Miles' contribution on the latter is superior to his playing on some of his own records of the time period. Just curious: where do you reckon the fellow you met had originally encountered the records? Was he a life-long collector who had bought them in local stores when they were new releases? This cache should place you in the upper echelon of modern day jazz record collectors/salesmen. Congratulations.
Nice, I have Jazz albums too but not in that good of shape. Johnny Griffin and Eddie Lockjaw Davis Quintet, Donald Byrd, Boss Horn Blue Mitchell, Frank Foster, Gene Ammons and Sonny Stitt, Horace Silver Quintet featuring Donald Byrd trumpet, Hank Mobley tenor sax, Horace Silver on piano, Doug Watkins bass, and Louis Hayes drums great album! Have many more... Thanks for your video's fun to watch
15:00 That was some magic right there. You showed a Charlie Parker album and when you put it down on the stack it turned into a completely different album. That was some funny editing.
Do you have to play and listen to the disc to judge its condition or can you hold it up to the light and look at the reflection off the grooves to see its condition???
Dude what a collection 🙌🙌 can't believe you were able to find something like this!! As a jazz geek I am flipping out lol Hope to make it to the shop eventually 👍🙌

I think I saw a T. Monk "Something in Blue" on Instagram flip through. My first monk in high school... cut out for 2.99! If you are local, best buy this one. May be his last studio, but he is on target; great record. Black Lion label which I know nothing about, but sounds very good.
