  • I love me a good sandwich cookie...(heck I just love cookies)...HOWEVER... these were pretty dang good. And super simple! This being a WW2 rations recipe, it really is a great basic oatmeal cookie that you could totally dress up with spices. But let me tell you.. paired with a homemade buttercream??? DIVINE.
This also got 12 out of 10 stars from the family and I ended up wishing I had not done a half batch lol.
Also, my apologies for the background noise.. I tried to filter it out but I am not that great at audio editing. At all.
Here is the recipe if you'd like to give it a shot. Thank you for hanging out with me in my kitchen!

The beginnings of the Little Debbie Oatmeal cremes. If you make them smaller then they would be a tea cookie to finish off a light lunch/midday meal. Any spice from ginger to nutmeg and a liquid flavor from vanilla to orange could be used.... Say a Orange cookie with chocolate butter cream or vanilla with a Lemon flavored butter cream...

It's fun to watch you try new (albeit vintage) recipes! Love the way you detail the resulting product tastes and textures comparing them to what us viewers might be assuming due to the ingredients you're using. The side comment on the noise in the background from a SW movie was also relatable lol bbc ya gotta keep everyone engaged and content! Quick question have you read thru Mrs. Beeton's Book of Household Management? I recommend it and have a few recipe suggestions for you that I will share. Great stuff! Thank you!

I'm glad you enjoyed it! And thank you for the feedback. I always hope I can articulate well enough for people...sometimes it's easier in my head lol! And I LOVE Mrs. Beetons books...I think early in my channel I had done one of her recipes but I would love love love to get my hand on an original copy! Maybe one day. For now I know I can look at it digitally, but it's not the same.

Looks good....what do you think they would taste like with a jam or date filling?
