I do love what they did for the culture of hip hop, but personally I think it’s kinda hard to decide when you have groups like DMC, NWA or ATCQ. Cheers dude
It was great. It reminded me of when i got only built for cuban linx and listened to the whole album front to back. I got to the last track and thought it was just a papa wu skit, but there was that last dart that was the icing on the cake.
Y u watch it then .. it wasn’t like he did anything different from the past 20yrs so y watch if ur not a fan .. ooooooo cuz ur a hater got it ur bias opinion is wrong and go kick rocks .. RZA. IS A GOD MC U GOOFY
nothing wrong with crying bro... crying is a therapeutic release that your body must do once a while if not often, never bottle up emotion because when the bottle begins to over flow... nothing good comes out of that. You crying shows that your subconsciously getting even more comfortable with who you are as a person and that's a glorious thing!
They are older but still can flow just like in the years gone back and doing it live like on record! And Young Dirty just doing what the late ODB did when he was alive.
Young Dirt McGirt at 8:11 gets me every time. I love it. So much energy. And spitting image and sound of his father. You can see it in the faces of the other Wu members when YDB gets going they all get huge smiles and their eyes light up with joy.
Listen to his Czarface albums (with MF Doom). Legendary bars. I personally thought he was always the most talented lyricist of them all but the Czarface albums are even better than his Wu Tang material
Deck has always shined on guest spots and Wu. But he has gotten even better in the last 10 years with his Czarface project. His greatest verses (even better than his classics like Triumph and Above the Clouds) have come on these recent albums. He has more room to create and you can hear it.
Every member is G.O.A.T.. 💐 💐 💐 flowers all day long...All I can say is this REAL RAP MUSIQ and I'm glad I grew up as teen of the 90's for real. Thank you NPR Tiny Desk for inviting Wu! 💎 💎 💎..... 💐 💐 💐...Periodt!
I love that almost every person likes YDB, and he DOES have his fathers swagger, but he's more positive/flamboyant. Which is great, i dont want 2 exact copies
I remember when these guys were not famous at all and performed at this club in NYC I was at with my boys. Only hard core NY hip-hop heads knew about them at the time. After their performance everyone in the club was like "Who ARE these guys? They crazy, but kinda ill.". A fight eventually broke out in the club and the party was done. If I recall, rapper Akinyele was there too. NYC original home of hip-hop. The 80's and 90's in NY were special for rap music.
@@Girlforaction Yup. The Stretch Armstrong and Bobbito tapes I still have help me flash back to them good ol days. But I'm not hatin' on the young cats. All music evolves. Do your thing youngins.
Crazy to think they were doing shows with RATM back in the day. They were really transcendent as a hip-hop act. There's some old MTV footage of them together somewhere on youtube.
Love that all the underrated Wu-Tang dudes are here. U-God, Masta, Inspectah and Capp don't get the respect they deserve. GZA is in the same boat too sometimes. Also YDB kills it obviously.
I feel like wu is one of those groups folks can’t compare who better tho they give each other flowers cause they brothers but each member style so different that it’s hard to say who better cause each member rap like they part of a machine but still hold they own I always thought capp and U-god was dope cause u god voice alone is dope but also he got bars that sound like hydrogen bombs and then capp flow is just crispy I know he must’ve crushed mad MCs In his hay day
Deck is known for being arguably the best to open a track in the history of hip hop. He gets that respect. Gza is known for being one of the strongest lyricists of all time. He gets that respect. No argument on the rest. Masta was always a personal favorite of mine. Loved his off-kilter rhyme schemes, great lyrics (Gza disciple) and awesome voice.
19:12 - For those musicians to improvise an instrumental one that actually sounded good and find his timing all at once... yoooo props to y'all... that shit would of been hella difficult especially how he started his written
Ngl. Til this day it still hurts that ODB is gone. I love all the Wu but he is still my favorite. He was definitely A Son Unique. His energy every time he performed is unmatched.
If you speaking on Tiny Desk i agree...all genres have had their moments...but i changed my mind in Tyler based on his concert basically ignored him he has some nice cuts admittedly
I always had a deep and profound respect for Wu-Tang and have always gravitated toward GZA. He's just so quiet and methodical. Not pushing himself to the front. Just watching what's going on around him and feeling the vibes. Wu-Tang forever.

Gotta love the Wu, I've been a fan since 92, i went to school with one of ODB's first cousin's (Shout out to my boy MARK McClain) he let me hear this Wu tape before 36 Chambers dropped, not only did i want to keep that tape, I've been a Big Wu fan ever since!!!! This is the proudest I've ever been in my life. This has made my week, thank you NPR...i am so inspired. I'm gonna get off this toilet and better my life
okay.
Lmaoooo
Sooo funny....I believe in you
Hemroids happen when u watch an entire performance on the toilet lol
That's Godspeak sir!
rap like this doesn't exist no more. pure and raw.
Wu is arguably the greatest group in hip hop. No other group has more dope MC's, has been as prolific and has such a creative business model.
Arguably yes.
But there's Run-DMC. But personally, it's BONE THUGS-N-HARMONY.
I do love what they did for the culture of hip hop, but personally I think it’s kinda hard to decide when you have groups like DMC, NWA or ATCQ. Cheers dude
Naaa Wu definetely greatest hip hop group of all time
💯
Outkast is up there with Wu Tang.
The violin player is the MVP!!! 🏆🏆🏆🔥🔥🔥

I'm glad they have Young Dirty there with them. That's love!
I get the chills and excited for the wu again watching him perform.

Just jumped in Ghost Face? Plus didn't know YOUNG dirty
I'm with Homie from Polokwane Limpopo....

Big up from germany
Beautiful GOD watching everything you do.
Blessings forever beautiful GOD and Jesus loves y'all forever. teach everyone you know and don't know.
Odb’s son doin an amazing job. Almost like he’s still here😢
I know… it’s amazing how he just channeled his dad like that…
I find him hard to watch I think he just needs to be him and not try to be dirty
@@dwaynebeamon5105 yeah I agree.. He trying too hard
i said the same thing, it’s crazy
Yessir! ODB would be proud!
That violin lady is genius! So many great parts, and that last improv at the end was amazing!!!
the end was insane, never heard anything like it.
magical!
It was great. It reminded me of when i got only built for cuban linx and listened to the whole album front to back. I got to the last track and thought it was just a papa wu skit, but there was that last dart that was the icing on the cake.
I see your point I think the stings go really well with it. RZA is probably my favourite though with Ghost and Meth so I might be bias
Brolick Scholar you’re smokin
Y u watch it then .. it wasn’t like he did anything different from the past 20yrs so y watch if ur not a fan .. ooooooo cuz ur a hater got it ur bias opinion is wrong and go kick rocks .. RZA. IS A GOD MC U GOOFY
25 years strong, they ain''t goin nowhere!
You can tell Raekwon and GZA love Young Dirty
The last RZA verse brought tear to my eyes! Almost 30 years later and its the same essence!
Maybe I've gotten soft, but RZA pulled tears from my face on that last joint. Respect. Wu-Tang Forever!!
nothing wrong with crying bro... crying is a therapeutic release that your body must do once a while if not often, never bottle up emotion because when the bottle begins to over flow... nothing good comes out of that. You crying shows that your subconsciously getting even more comfortable with who you are as a person and that's a glorious thing!
Iron Fists can have tears
They are older but still can flow just like in the years gone back and doing it live like on record! And Young Dirty just doing what the late ODB did when he was alive.
Father: Turn this off.
Me: why, dad ?
Father: we've got bigger speakers downstairs.
Cringe
Yeah nah Chief
Mint😭👌🏾👍🏾
Lol
i only want to get a kid now just to do this
Man, in retrospect, U-God added so much to the Clan. His flow is kind of a signature, unique flow of the crew.
Psychopathic thinker
His performance on Forever is flawless. He spit some of the hardest verses
Check his book too. Good read
His flow also aged really well
@@Olhado256 his voice just really stood out. Its not like i was checking for his verses but every time he came on, he stood out.
Young Dirt McGirt at 8:11 gets me every time. I love it. So much energy. And spitting image and sound of his father. You can see it in the faces of the other Wu members when YDB gets going they all get huge smiles and their eyes light up with joy.
It felt like ODB was alive and back in the group again. Great job YDB!
Damn RZA should make one whole concert only with the strings and base, this was tight af. I´m feelin it!!!
No face tats, no crazy jewelry, no ego... just pure classic hip hop!
Everything Hits except ghost face with the crazy eagle chain
Gold teeth
Still want U-God to have Golden Arms, like Jaxx from Mortal Kombat.
Yessir absolutely no comparison to any of rap today. This is straight cosmic, interconnectedness. Straight jedis
Hip hop in its purest form honestly
why hasn't Deck ever gotten his props? Iconic verses on all records... and yet not enough shine.
He led every Czarface album. And these mumble rap fans have prolly never even heard of him
Listen to his Czarface albums (with MF Doom).
@@flysupertomcat1 I agree.
His bank account say different... lol
I named my nephew, Raekwon and he is SUCH a lil' gentleman.... Absolutely the BEST AND FOREVER WILL BE THE #1 RAP GROUP OF ALL TIME.
"Npr in the description"

Classic
Apt description😂😂
my favorite part of this is how much the violinist was into every song played. either she was playing the song or vibing to it!
Deck's verse is still the hardest opener to any track, ever. Just lethal.
He lyrically performed armed robbery
True Words.
Still get hyped listening to these guys.

8:28 you can see even Raekwon was amazed by YDB’s bit there. Can’t stop watching this. Super legends
He has his dads body language for sure
He reached out to get a feel of energy.
I love that almost every person likes YDB, and he DOES have his fathers swagger, but he's more positive/flamboyant. Which is great, i dont want 2 exact copies
@@mackavelly what is the name of the song
he kilt it man he was in tune #100
I remember when these guys were not famous at all and performed at this club in NYC I was at with my boys. Only hard core NY hip-hop heads knew about them at the time. After their performance everyone in the club was like "Who ARE these guys? They crazy, but kinda ill.". A fight eventually broke out in the club and the party was done. If I recall, rapper Akinyele was there too. NYC original home of hip-hop. The 80's and 90's in NY were special for rap music.
It was the Golden era. Best era of hip-hop if you ask me.
@@Girlforaction Yup. The Stretch Armstrong and Bobbito tapes I still have help me flash back to them good ol days. But I'm not hatin' on the young cats. All music evolves. Do your thing youngins.
That's funny they been throwin wild shows so long. Someone got carried out at the show I went to before they even hit the stage
Crazy to think they were doing shows with RATM back in the day. They were really transcendent as a hip-hop act. There's some old MTV footage of them together somewhere on youtube.
Wish I were there that night...
I have waited sooooo long for this
*Wu-tang 4ever*
They sacrificed lord superb, y not they're gonna be on a comeback
HELL YEAH.

YDB gives me the chills, his father really lives through him!!
Love that all the underrated Wu-Tang dudes are here. U-God, Masta, Inspectah and Capp don't get the respect they deserve. GZA is in the same boat too sometimes. Also YDB kills it obviously.
I feel like wu is one of those groups folks can’t compare who better tho they give each other flowers cause they brothers but each member style so different that it’s hard to say who better cause each member rap like they part of a machine but still hold they own I always thought capp and U-god was dope cause u god voice alone is dope but also he got bars that sound like hydrogen bombs and then capp flow is just crispy I know he must’ve crushed mad MCs In his hay day
Cappadonna Black boy!!!
Inspectah really has some of the most timeless verses... Triumph and CREAM are legendary.
Raekwan's energy cuts through. He's got the gift.
The girl plucking the violin over U God at 7:30 sounding too good
Chris thanks!!!!!.....I didn’t even catch that
What’s the song at that time
@@rorymacrae8985 Y'all been warned
I'll have you know that's a Stradivarius and she was playing part of Bach's Chaconne at that point, well not really but I do like Bach.
Trying her heart out not to slit throats 😂
Thank you for not sensoring! Love you guys!!
Constantly amazed how well hip-hop holds up to this format
That's the foundation.
hip hop does for sure .. rap not really
If you speaking on Tiny Desk i agree...all genres have had their moments...but i changed my mind in Tyler based on his concert basically ignored him he has some nice cuts admittedly
Terry Manning I’m not, Hip-Hop is just like any other genre/art form. I’ve seen artists adding live musicians to shows for years.
djaywrek Live music of any genre is always the best. Just surprised how well it works in the Tiny Desk format.
Legends. These guys have more flows than Niagara Falls. Never forget seeing them at the o2 Academy Brixton. One of the illest concerts I ever been to.
Wu Tang vibe so strong , it immediately takes you back to that Era every single time.
I always had a deep and profound respect for Wu-Tang and have always gravitated toward GZA. He's just so quiet and methodical. Not pushing himself to the front. Just watching what's going on around him and feeling the vibes. Wu-Tang forever.
♥️💯
Recently saw him live, and just learned he's also an astro-physicist 😮 the man is impressive in many ways
Liquid Swords is still one of my favorite solo albums
Ghostface is my guy, but really...I dont think there's an incorrect answer. Concerning all 9...
MY cousin is brilliant
Just seeing all these boys together again, smilin' an havin' fun like that,
Dang, dude
Made me smile, too
They need to record this C.R.E.A.M. version!! Sounds more dark and oriental somehow with the instruments on top. Really really good!!!
No Method so not OG to me
I’m a 40 year old white guy. I’m a CNA (Care taker) and one patient I have is an older black man - military vet- he was hard to get him to trust me or to accept me- we bonded over some wu tang clan today- he was surprised I knew every Lyric! his Eyes went wide and smiled as we both went back and fourth ( I’m a nerdy white guy - but that’s just my style cover - rocked Fila and cross colors in my youth! Thinking that GZA performed at NPR made me dream seeing the Wu perform too. Now I had it as a Christmas gift ❤🔥
This has to be one of the best Tinydesk concerts they sound so good and they all floww as good as ever
Check out the Cypress Hill one. I liked that so much because of the horn section and because B-Real was telling stories in between.
The strings putting on the perfect melody for rza at the end is evidence of the vibe wu tang creates
