So much sets them apart, but what gets me the most are their harmony choices! Also... I’ve always wanted the non-native version of tā moko, which is called kirituhi. For a truly meaningful tattoo, you need to spend the day with an artist who is a tradition based master. He listens to you tell your life story (and *how* you tell it) and as you tell him, he starts to see the design in his spirit/mind. He then tattoos what he sees and it’s unique to the artist and the person (client) and their specific story. I think it would be disrespectful to go in with anything in mind but the sharing of oneself with an artist with true understanding as a guide who can see and tell your story on your skin. I also feel the need to have it done in the traditional way, with the ihu (which scars & tattoos at the same time) not with a tattoo gun. I don’t feel I’m worthy of such an honor as kirituhi if I can’t endure the pain of the tradition. On my next visit to Australia, I hope I can hop over to NZ & spend a day or two with a traditional artist and have him translate a bit of my story into a spiritually profound experience in skin art.
This was the first song I heard by Alien Weaponry, and I absolutely fell in love with it. During the chorus, his voice in combination with the overall ambience going on gives it a very airy feel to me and I absolutely love that. The chorus is one of my favorite parts of this song.
They are damn good and enjoyed your facts and commentary man. I have heard them a couple times before and need to get back to, thanks for reminding me of that! Don't change how you do things, what you are doing is great! I agree with your opinion of the style of music.
Awesome, awesome reaction dude,I'm from New Zealand and what you brought to the table did justice to this reaction, and good to see you wearing that All Black jersey, even though I'm a rugby league fan (Another game similar to rugby, but better-haha),but some nice little facts you added, and GO with the head-banging man ! Awesome shit ! Be good to see you react to Mexican 3 piece power trio The Warning,(seeing as you reacted to Band Maid -yuck - thats my opinion only),maybe tracks like "Queen Of The Murder Scene" or "Dull Knives" (which Lizzy Hale from Halestorm just loves, and wants to tour with them).
I saw this band on a fluke while they were on a US tour a few years ago. Everyone that I knew at that show admitted to going home and looking up New Zealand and its culture on Google afterward.
First time coming across your channel. Really enjoy this song, but better yet...I love how you have the facts constantly throughout the video. That’s something that I haven’t seen anyone else do. Mad props on that. Got a new sub here 🤘🤘🤘
Saw them live 2019 in Tuska-festival (Helsinki, Finland). I heard of the name, but had no idea about them other than that. Goddang they were awesome to see live. Awesome band, awesome record. Hope we get more of them soon.
Hell yeah!! I love how this is still doing the reaction video rounds!! I still beam with pride how far these boys have come. Great reaction dude and kia kaha (stay strong)! 🇳🇿
Great reaction dude, i haven't listen alien weaponry in a while. I literally said soulfly the first time i listen them. Now the spam: havukruunu - uinuos syömein sota.
What a pleasant surprise, like you I had Sepultura vibes, the sound and singing while remaining their own vibe. Maybe a little less head bangy than I would have liked, but I'm digging it. I'm going to check out more and see if they can get a spot in my Spotify list. Thank you Tank! And thank you, whoever requested the song.
I really enjoyed coming across this one too. Even without speaking the language, the music shines through enough to reel you in, and the chorus just digs the hooks right in. Solid songwriting, and a cool video too.
Absolutely love Alien Weaponry and love your channel so far man. It would be awesome to see you react to Tyr. "ragnars kvæði" "Sinklars Visa" and "regin smidur" are all awesome songs!
Awesome video bro! It's a good song but it's so cool to see you getting yourself context to really get the song, their other songs like Ru Ana te Whenua are just as good Fun little detail for those paying attention, The young warrior we see at the start being dragged is the first warrior we see when the village is attacked, thus is presumably part of that village's taua (war parties) and maybe even a kaumatua's (elder's) family. So when he dragged off after the battle it is presumably to make him a slave or eat him and gain his mana (standing/power/energy) - e mahi e Tumatuaenga, 'this is the work of the god of war'
Since you liked this, please react to Shepherds Reign - Le Manu! They’re a New Zealand based Samoan band. And maybe you’ll ditch the All Blacks jersey for a Manu Samoa rugby jersey 😂
one thing a lot don't mention on this is the awesome visuals and the quality of the film work in this video everything is so crisps and very high resolution compared with a lot of videos so kudos the the film makers also. the people who took part in it also played their parts in telling the story well. another note on Moko is it not just random patterns, each part of it tells the history of the persons ancestry and family and where their ancestors are from, so it is their story and it is why each is unique. the person that does the work will talk to the person and ask them of their story before designing it.

Great reaction Tank. FYI , seeing as I am a kiwi, I will let you know 'Kai Tangata' is pronounced (Kai tongue-ata). It literally means eat people - as that is what they did to their enemies back then.
@@TankTheTech No problem. You pronounced it the way it looks, like most people would. They do songs in English as well (just look for the English song titles). I think they have shown Maori works well for metal though (like German), due to its harsher sound.
Duuuude you gotta check out some videos of the Haka. Maori traditional war dance. It's powerful stuff! Haka is practiced across all Polynesia, and has various meanings and reasons for doing it across different cultures. It's not just a war dance as well it's more of a ceremonial outpouring of emotion. Some of the coolest stuff I've seen!
Fun reaction. Love this song, and their work. There's something to be said for doing something fairly simple and doing it well, instead of having to push the limits all the time. Different songs have different mixes of English and Maori. As a Rammstein fan, I'd be totally into all Maori all the time myself. Have you listened to The Hu - Mongolian folk metal, if you haven't then they are a must. Wolf Totem is probably best known, I love the video to Yuve Yuve Yu omg the drone footage.
Small news snippet from Alien weaponry recently. One of the brothers has decided to leave the band, they had a short video statement, one of their high school friends who has been playing with them for a long time is stepping in to fill the role. It's the younger brother leaving if I remember correctly. He was finding being on the road away from family too hard, so they are making the switch during the covids.
Fun fact about the haka: The mostly Moari stunt crew on The Lord of the Rings performed a haka as a sign of respect for Viggo Mortensen (Aragorn) because they bonded so close during the shooting of those films. ua-cam.com/video/o_kqn5MQiDY/v-deo.html
When I first heard this song I thought of Roots era Sepultura crossed with Frogstomp era Silverchair (teenage voices, raw-ish production, 3 piece, etc.). Super solid band, love seeing bands pushing their culture to the fore as well.
The first time I heard this, I have to admit. I had no idea what language it was. It just epicly kicked ass. I thought, "Shit! Who knew the Japanese had such good aggressive metal?" I was wrong as it turned out... even better now that I know. Any group that invents a shark tooth covered sword has got to score high on the brutal as fuck scale.
You can turn on the CC tab in UA-cam screen to get a translated subtitle in the Original Video, or there are translations in the Original Video's comments.
Nice reaction. I saw them a couple of years ago at Bloodstock Metal Fest and they impressed me. Scary thing was when I added their 3 ages together I was the same bloody age😂. I felt ancient watching them. I prefer the songs in Maori that they do, it has a certain vibe to hits nicely. One of the things I notice is like me you are enjoying an education not only in music but history and culture! Often I hear new music (prog is particularly good for this) I end up having to google things as they are singing about realities from through the years. Hell until recently I had no idea there had been a Swedish famine (1867 to 1869) and I never knew of the Vajont Dam disaster in Italy (1963). There are plenty more. Of course death metal has educated me on some interesting and horrific diseases😂. There is also some Indian bands around using local instruments including Bloodywood who are Indian street metal! I love how multicultural metal is. Anything goes. Anyways enough of me. Take care.
Speaking of Max Cavalera, he's in a super group called Killer Be Killed with Greg from The Dillinger Escape Plan, Troy from Mastodon, and the drummer from Converge whose name is escaping me... Anyways they just dropped a new track. If you haven't heard of them, I HIGHLY recommend it. Max, Greg, and Troy all do vocals and they all have such district voices. It's so fucking cool.
Ta moko on a non Māori is called kirituhi rather than moko and is ok to get as long as you know the meaning and are willing to share the proper meaning with others. The only place it would be inappropriate for a non Māori to get a Māori style tattoo would be anywhere on the face or head. To go to NZ and get a tattoo there would be an amazing experience for you to have as long as you appreciate and share the true meaning that belongs with it.
I found this band while i was hearing 1 or 2 songs of every band I didn't know for Wacken 2018 and immediatly stopped doing that to listen almost solely to them. That was about 3-4 months before the festival and that's also why I can sing those vocals along even if I can't speak any maori xD They do some songs in maori, but also some songs in english. If you wanna dig deeper into their music I would recommend "Ru Ana Te Whenua" for another maori song, slighty heavier and for an english song "Holding My Breath". Anyway, I'm glad you dig that band, they deserve to be bigger and more well known Also, I think I'm just gonna tell you from now on in every comment of me 1 or 2 songs or bands that I would recommend you which fit into the style of the song of the video, so you can go watch them if you are interested in one c: So my first band for this one is "Wagakki Band". They are a japanese band which make a mix of rock and classic japanese music. By no means metal, but definetly interesting and a cool band to hear. I dig them and it seems we do have a similar taste of music :D My song recommendation to jump in would be their best known song "senbonzakura" Keep up the good work man, you rock :D
Not too long ago I had the opportunity to get a small workshop in that intimidating dance the Maori did. I tell you, it's so much fun to do, and it has this really cool rythmic feel to it.
Saw them in Ventura California and a meet and greet/ show with Jinjer down San Diego California. They are going to be really good, they’re still kid’s.
Download UK is best I've seen of them and big metal festivals in Europe last year - awesome live act - big things expected - some songs in English too - try "Holding My Breath" - Bassist Ethan stepping down as finding touring tough away from family - wants to do production work instead - new bassist taking over when next tour post covid kicks in - NZ first so we are the lucky ones - new album almost complete - just some vocals to add - look out these young lads are the future of metal.
Hey man, I just found your channel and started watching all your reactions. Love your vids, dude. And love this band. Saw them a few years back in Toronto. It was one of the wildest shows I've been to in a long time. These guys fucking kill it live. The energy was nuts. I don't think I've seen Toronto go that crazy for anything other than Justin Bieber LOL
The Soulfly/Sepultura comparison was my thought as well. (although, of course, both of those bands combine indigenous Brazilian music into their metal, as opposed to Maori)
When it comes to the tattooing You are right to be very careful, a lot of designs are scared and have to be earned. Ta Moko designs give a lot of information to those who understand how to read them, from family history to social standing.
If you want to rock more, if you go to the Official Download (on Alien Weaponry’s channel) and Resurrection Fest videos of the full sets, they both have clickable timestamps in the descriptions. Both shows are great.

They've recently dropped a couple of new tracks. "Tangaroa" and "Hatupatu" worth a listen. They have changed base player since Kia Tangata.
Has this happened? I'd be keen to hear the culmination of this. (Came here on after being obsessed with Bloodywood Folk Metal)
This reaction introduced me to Alien Weaponry over a year ago and I love their music; Always on my playlist; 18 of their songs! THANKS TANK!
This was the first song I heard by Alien Weaponry, and I absolutely fell in love with it. During the chorus, his voice in combination with the overall ambience going on gives it a very airy feel to me and I absolutely love that. The chorus is one of my favorite parts of this song.
He tauaaaaaa, He tauaaaaaa!
I appreciate the time having moved a bit a later. Been missing a lot of these because I’m working.
One massive hockey fan to another Epica - Consign to Oblivion live at the Zenith. Will truly blow your mind!
Seconded, Epica is truly... epic...a xD
SOOOOOOON! I promise. Hahaha
@@TankTheTech Hoype :D
They are damn good and enjoyed your facts and commentary man. I have heard them a couple times before and need to get back to, thanks for reminding me of that! Don't change how you do things, what you are doing is great! I agree with your opinion of the style of music.
Kia ora bro i really appreciate that you dig this song and to top the cake your even wearing our Nations Jersey cheers bro
Right. Your cultural awareness is definitely something that caught me by surprise. Have my sub, finally.
Thanks man!
You sure would like Ningen Isu, a Japanese metal band, with a style close to Black Sabbath. "Heartless Scat" is a good start.
❤❤😢
Great reaction and cool song. And I really appreciate all the additional information you're giving us in your Tank Facts.
Goddamn, that song and Ru Ana Te Whenua are everyday for me lately. Too good.
Nga mihi 🙏 Great that you’ve included “Tank facts” informative respectful and best reaction vid so far 🥳 Ka rawe 🤙🏽👏🏽
Love it! The Jersey looks good on you bro. Thanks for dropping some knowledge and exposing our culture to the world 🖤
I hope I did it some justice!
@@TankTheTech for sure, hope that you enjoyed our part of the world when you were down here.
Absolutely loved it. Aukland quickly became one of my favorite cities, and I'd love to come back some day soon!
Your a really cool dude bro. Thankyou for being respectful towards our culture
You are right, this is great!!!!!! Nice shirt by the way man....
When Sepultura released ROOTS BLOODY ROOTS,they waited for an answer from the Rest of the World......THIS IS IT !!!!!
🤘🤘🤘
@@TankTheTech i too dig the way they have that sepultura feel chaos a.d. is one of my absolute favorites.
Those jerseys are supposed to be tight... they just shouldn't creep up until they're over the belly, so it appears from here you're doing fine.
Dude@ All Blacks shirt! Good job!
Your analytics and comparisons with other bands are always great.
Greetings from Germany \m/
Dude keep doing what you're doing my playlist is benefiting from it 🤘
🤘
I saw this band on a fluke while they were on a US tour a few years ago. Everyone that I knew at that show admitted to going home and looking up New Zealand and its culture on Google afterward.
Heard this song a while back, that chorus is fantastic.
Very well done Tank facts! amazing
Hey Tank, excellent to here an Alien Weaponry reaction, pretty stoked these kids got an international record deal singing Te Reo
Absolutely fantastic reaction, and my first time hearing it as well. I'm gonna be looking for more of their stuff, because DAMN.
First time coming across your channel. Really enjoy this song, but better yet...I love how you have the facts constantly throughout the video. That’s something that I haven’t seen anyone else do. Mad props on that. Got a new sub here 🤘🤘🤘
Thanks a ton!
Saw them live 2019 in Tuska-festival (Helsinki, Finland). I heard of the name, but had no idea about them other than that. Goddang they were awesome to see live. Awesome band, awesome record. Hope we get more of them soon.
So beautiful seeing someone speak so respectfully of Māori tradition and history, like the moko, massive props to you that man
Hell yeah!! I love how this is still doing the reaction video rounds!! I still beam with pride how far these boys have come. Great reaction dude and kia kaha (stay strong)! 🇳🇿
Thanks a ton!
These are my favorite reactions because it's a band I like and then I leave Loving them even more.
They are super amazing live. I got to see them open for Ministry, and met them after their set. They were so awesome to chat with.
Tank after this plz ....JINJER - JUDGEMENT (AND PUNISHMENT) - TATIANA ONE TAKE VOCAL PERFORMANCE released 19 hrs ago
Awesome video bro! It's a good song but it's so cool to see you getting yourself context to really get the song, their other songs like Ru Ana te Whenua are just as good
Fun little detail for those paying attention,
The young warrior we see at the start being dragged is the first warrior we see when the village is attacked, thus is presumably part of that village's taua (war parties) and maybe even a kaumatua's (elder's) family. So when he dragged off after the battle it is presumably to make him a slave or eat him and gain his mana (standing/power/energy) - e mahi e Tumatuaenga, 'this is the work of the god of war'
Yeah that chorus has the heaviest vocal hook I've ever heard, just stays in my head like some sort of anthem.
You just convinced me to keep growing my hawk thanks brah!

Fun Fact: The army of New Zealand is know as "Ngati Tumatauenga" which translated from the traditional Maori language means "Tribe of the war god".
Love these guys!
Bloodred Hourglass - The Unfinished Story
Nothgard - Epitaph
Nyktophobia - Yearning from an Uncharted Grave
Great reaction Tank. FYI , seeing as I am a kiwi, I will let you know 'Kai Tangata' is pronounced (Kai tongue-ata). It literally means eat people - as that is what they did to their enemies back then.
Thank you for the correction and good to know!
@@TankTheTech No problem. You pronounced it the way it looks, like most people would. They do songs in English as well (just look for the English song titles). I think they have shown Maori works well for metal though (like German), due to its harsher sound.
Im from NZ and didnt know these tank facts thanks a bunch
Duuuude you gotta check out some videos of the Haka. Maori traditional war dance. It's powerful stuff! Haka is practiced across all Polynesia, and has various meanings and reasons for doing it across different cultures. It's not just a war dance as well it's more of a ceremonial outpouring of emotion. Some of the coolest stuff I've seen!
Nice reaction brother 💪🏾🔥
Fun reaction. Love this song, and their work. There's something to be said for doing something fairly simple and doing it well, instead of having to push the limits all the time. Different songs have different mixes of English and Maori. As a Rammstein fan, I'd be totally into all Maori all the time myself. Have you listened to The Hu - Mongolian folk metal, if you haven't then they are a must. Wolf Totem is probably best known, I love the video to Yuve Yuve Yu omg the drone footage.
My dad and I filmed a reaction to "Yuve Yuve Yu" recently. I'll release it soon. 🤘
@@TankTheTech nice! :)
It is Ethan the bass player who is leaving, not one of the brothers.
I think Ethan (the bassist) steps down, both brothers remain in the band. And Ethan declared he plans to still be around but behind the scene.
@@DeeDee80 Yap, I had to go back and look, quite correct.
“Let’s Gooooo”!!!!
Tank, you gotta hear India Street Metal.. check out Bloodywood - Yaad or Machi Bahsad (Expect a Riot). Those dudes are awesome! Great reaction!
Yaaaaasss!!!!!
Tank you rock that All Black jersey brutha. Andreas wears an All Black jersey in the video of Roots Bloody Roots
I’m digging it, have you checked out Shepherds Reign? They are from New Zealand as well and their song Le Manu is awesome
Some super talented young dudes!
Great band (for younger guys) and a great reaction. Keep'em coming! 🤘😫
Luv seein Tank headbang on every reaction session..bang bang Tank..luv frm India
Your reactions are the real deal!
I've been listening to this on repeat !
Such a groovy song and awesome band!
Baroness - Chlorine and Wine (music video) or March to the Sea (live)
The first time I heard this, I have to admit. I had no idea what language it was. It just epicly kicked ass. I thought, "Shit! Who knew the Japanese had such good aggressive metal?" I was wrong as it turned out... even better now that I know. Any group that invents a shark tooth covered sword has got to score high on the brutal as fuck scale.
Just a bunch of dudes hanging out on a highly active volcanic island beating the shit out of eachother with gemstones.
Fucking metal.
These guys are awesome.
You can turn on the CC tab in UA-cam screen to get a translated subtitle in the Original Video, or there are translations in the Original Video's comments.
Chur bro fkn AWESOME my bro..
Take care.
I saw them live a couple days ago, my god they were wonderful.
That was about 3-4 months before the festival and that's also why I can sing those vocals along even if I can't speak any maori xD
They do some songs in maori, but also some songs in english. If you wanna dig deeper into their music I would recommend "Ru Ana Te Whenua" for another maori song, slighty heavier and for an english song "Holding My Breath". Anyway, I'm glad you dig that band, they deserve to be bigger and more well known
Also, I think I'm just gonna tell you from now on in every comment of me 1 or 2 songs or bands that I would recommend you which fit into the style of the song of the video, so you can go watch them if you are interested in one c:
So my first band for this one is "Wagakki Band". They are a japanese band which make a mix of rock and classic japanese music. By no means metal, but definetly interesting and a cool band to hear. I dig them and it seems we do have a similar taste of music :D My song recommendation to jump in would be their best known song "senbonzakura"
Keep up the good work man, you rock :D
Thanks a ton! Wagakki Band is definitely on my radar for sure!
Not too long ago I had the opportunity to get a small workshop in that intimidating dance the Maori did. I tell you, it's so much fun to do, and it has this really cool rythmic feel to it.
That's so rad!
Saw them in Ventura California and a meet and greet/ show with Jinjer down San Diego California. They are going to be really good, they’re still kid’s.
Cool to see the Shirt bro
Best reactor ever seen, just subbed
Haha. Thanks a ton man!
You've got to react to their concert at Wacken. Really great how the three lads Rock the Big Stage on their own.
