iu is one of those artists you can just admire and adore all her songs, no matter what part of the kpop community you're from. she's an awesome singer and artist, and she just keeps getting better
The piano part at 2:50 that Kevin mentions is a callback to IU’s first big hit, Good Day. In the beginning of the second verse, a string section plays the same chord progression as that piano part in Lilac. She also had a callback to Ending Scene in her song My Sea off this album as well. It seems she and her producers intentionally sprinkled in these breadcrumbs, seeing as this album is her bidding her past goodbye.

IU's music feels like Ghibli films to me, it feels like magic, I think that's why it was so easy for me to fall in love with it, it's a world you want to visit, to live in even.
IU is just such an amazing artist, from the lyricism, the interpretation, the content and even the color! lilac is so on trend this year, she is in the moment but at the same time she does her own unique thing. When I heard this for the first time I knew I wanted a reaction from rttK!
When Kevin pointed out that the chorus sounds like Adore U by Seventeen I was so relieved, because I thought I was the only one!!! Both songs I love a lot but the resemblance was driving me crazy since noone was talking about it :D

IU's musicality has been cemented for a long time now so as a fan what got me excited here the most was them indirectly praising her acting 😭 IU the musician and Lee Jieun the actress never disappoints
This song grows on me. The more I listen to it, the more I realise the richness (i don’t know if this is the right term) of the instruments. The mv truly captured the lyrics and what the song tries to convey. So, for me this is another one whole genius package of IU’s work, the song itself, IU’s vocal, the music arrangement, the mv, the dance, and ofcourse IU’s presence. everything is amazing!!!
Since getting into IU's music earlier this year, she has become one of my favorite singers, right up there with Wendy from Red Velvet and Bruce Dickinson(Iron Maiden). "Lilac" is one of my favorite songs, it is beautifully sung(like all her music), has a nice funky bass, and the music video is truly wonderful. I love the bit at the beginning where she "learns" the choreography, and that smile at the end sends shivers down my spine every time I see it. Great video as always! Keep up the good work!
