    Hondas are perfectly designed for the needs of the American market. Just enough for everything you need. Just enough power for highway speeds, just enough space for a family of 4, just enough mpg to work as a commuter, just enough price and running costs to fit most budgets, just enough styling/quality of materials to look nice.
    I love these cars

A year and a half ago, I reluctantly purchased a '20 Accord Touring 2.0T and it easily won me over. The engine is an absolute gem. The only thing about my V6 powered cars I miss is the engine sound. But this 2.0T engine never seems underpowered. I'm border line obsessed with my car. The more I drive it, the more I love it! Many, many people have no clue how good the Accord 2.0T actually is. After so many reviews about seat comfort, styling and infotainment gripes. Finally a proper review from someone that has put rubber to the road with many different cars.
    Sam you are 100% correct, Honda is killing off the "Sleeper" version of the Accord. It has been around for over 20 years, starting with the v6 (3.0 liter) and ending with the 2.0t, 10 speed transmission. I have owned a few versions of the V6 and the 2.4 liter (CVT) and will soon own a 2.0t once the used car market cools down a tad.
    I must be the only person that still wants a Dad car. SUV's and Trucks have not appeal to me. I want a easy to park, decent MPG, family car that doesn't cost me a arm and a leg to buy and maintain. I'll get my Corvette when my kid's are out of the house, already know which one. :P
    But the 11th gen is a turd of an Accord and really a shame to put the "Sport" trim on it at all. Yes the tree huggers will love it, but maintaining a Hybrid is more costly overall. Sorry but giving us a Hybrid with a whopping 209 HP and sluggish acceleration on the Highway, the one place where you need it most is a shame.

    • @a32tl
      @a32tl 7 місяців тому

      Totally agree with you. I still prefer a nice sedan over SUVs or trucks. The Accord 2.0T really checked a lot of boxes for me. Fun to drive, very quick, economical, easy and inexpensive to maintain, very roomy, comfortable, just a complete joy to drive. Don't know why Honda forsook performance with the 11th generation Accord but it is incredibly disheartening. I will be keeping my '21 Accord Touring 2.0T for a good while. If only Honda had nixed the 1.5T engine, made the hybrid powertrain their core offering and kept, (and enhanced), the 2.0T engine for those of us who prefer more power!

    One tiny gripe for this car... I drive long trips to my work and the fuel tank capacity is so small... The range is really not that good due to 56 liters tank... Keep in mind that no one uses the entire tank at a time, when you need to fuel what you really used is around 50 liters and that is really not much for this segment... It should have been at least 62 liters so you can use 55-57 of it

    For a very long time I felt about front wheel drive the way that you do. However it doesn't bother me anymore. Maybe it's simply because I'm getting older now. I think that from an efficiency standpoint front wheel drive legitimately is the best. Now that being said if I was a rich middle-aged person having my mid life crisis, I would still want a rear wheel drive performance car to play with on the weekends. But as far as cars to live with on a day-to-day basis (especially considering that I have a job that requires me to go to work even in bad weather like snow and even icy situations), having a front wheel drive car that is very confident, very efficient, and still very fun to drive means more to me in a real world situation than having a rear wheel drive car that might be more fun on a back road on a Sunny Saturday afternoon but isn't as practical to use on a day-to-day basis. It also saves me from having to have an SUV when I don't need one. And yes I do know that all-wheel drive is better in the snow but when there's less than a foot of snow on the ground front wheel drive does just fine for me.

    Honda said the Hybrid will be their top performing model. My guess is the 2.0t will stay building on that with the Hybrid. Bringing a bit more power at 300hp. I was disappointed you did not touch on the suspension with the adaptive dampers on this Touring. It’s better then the Sport suspension with those adaptive dampers. They really help when pushing the car and taking corners.
    That being said. The 2.0t Touring is the best Accord ever made and we have owned a lot of Accord’s. We love our 21 Touring and it’s a keeper.

    I would love to see the 11th gen Hybrid utilize the 2.0T, but not sure Honda would let that happen. Just as long as they don't combine a CVT with it. A 2.0T PHEV SH-AWD would be a rocket. As long as Honda could keep the weight in check.

    Sam, incredible review and tribute to the Legendary Honda Accord, however the Accord 2.0T Touring in the US is no where near $33K. It runs $39,545 with US destination charges. The 2.0T Sport is $34,755, which would be my choice in it's respective class. I am looking forward to seeing the 11th gen, however ngl, a little worried at the same time.

    If the setup between the 10th Gen Civic is in anyway similar to the Accord. I believe that if you switch the Accords transmission to Sport mode and toggle the paddle shifters up or down. Then you will engage the manual mode fully. I found that out on my 2020 Civic Sport. If you want to switch it back to full automatic then just shift to Drive and the transmission should revert back to it's normal mode. Love the Accord, but I'm very much in love with my Civic Sport as well. It may not have the hp or torque but it is very much a reliable daily, and fun back roads carver none the less.

I’ve been told that Hondas aren’t as reliable as they used to be, ive been looking at V6 Camrys , Mazda 6 turbos and 2.0T accords , I think both are great cars but I’ve been leaning towards the accord , but I want whatever car I get to last

    hold the upshift paddle down for a couple seconds - that puts it into full manual mode, of course Honda wont let you go hardcore with it though but it should hold gears and respond like a manual mode - at least it does in my 2020 Ody, I can rev it all the way out and it does not go back into auto mode

    Mys Mercedes 350 e sport finally became too expensive to repair. I test drove a C class Mercedes, 400 series BMW and an Audi. All had a 2.0 turbo engine. All required premium fuel. The 2018 Accord had just hit the streets.I read an interesting review in Car and Driver prompting an Accord test drive. I chose the 2.0 T LX version and it turned me into a believer instantly. 255 horses on regular fuel. 0-60 in 5.4 seconds. I average 34 mpg at 70 mph. The car is larger than my Mercedes inside. Great electronic array and downright comfortable on long trips. I drive the mountains of N.C. routinely and the Accord handles great. I’ ve owned 3 BMW’s, 1 porshe, a mazda RX7 turbo and a Mercedes e350 sport. The Accord is by far the best deal on the market, a real sleeper. The 2.0 T LX is no longer available and the Sport or Touring model is required for the 2.0 T. I just hope Honda keeps the many excellent features of this model when it is updated in 2024. Honda, Listen ! No CVT. Eight speeds would be plenty. I wouldn’t care about more HP. I too am a rear wheel drive fan, BUT. The Accord handles so well I hardly notice it is FWD. Honda. Don’t mess it up. You have a real winner that dragged me away from Germany. I want to hook up again . Don’t mess it up !
