    Its taking snapshots every few seconds so just imagine you login to a site and hit to reveal the password, it could now be in a snapshot. Manually entering or editing info in your password manager, its is now in snapshots and you have to manually tell the app what websites or apps not to include.

  • @finkitsallover
    @finkitsallover Місяць тому +20

    "Your snapshots are yours" just sounds like they could scan the image and store data about what was on your screen while not technically saving your screenshots. If they weren't using data from this they would just say no data collected by recall is sent to us. Even then you would need to trust Microsoft.

    • @Jmcinally94

Society progresses through open and accessible standards. Not proprietary locked down bloatware. You don't need 16gb of memory and an NPU to do work on a PC. Linux does just fine without it. theres only 2 options right now
    make a switch to gnu/linux and deal with "sometimes you accidentally break your OS depedencies cuz you're new to linux" or "Gut out every unnecessary bloats inside lastest windows that it barely works because some way or another this one thing works without any microsoft tracker as dependencies,but sometimes you accidentally break the system because you're not yet familiar to how windows under the hood works because only microsoft knows how things works and they keep adding unecessary depedencies"
    for me personally, ill wait till i felt Linux works with my workflow(especially software compatibilities and subjectively acceptable alternatives) and debloated windows breaks almost everything and my windows install(wich ive never been updated since windows 11 22h2) finally forcefully retired
    currently 70% using linux

    It only says that your snapshots are stored locally. It doesn't say anything about tokenized information being shared on the backend. Your data is basically being classified, tagged, and described in high detail, using a language specific to the AI. If that language is transferred over the network, then it's virtually the same as the data itself.

I've been happily using Linux since 2002 (22 years!) as my main personal OS, so I've witnessed a lot of development over the past 2 decades. But none of this which M$ is up to will be tolerated by the communities, which Canonical is now all to aware of - they tried!

I guess it would be nice to have an AI help me with THAT, because I'm obviously in over my head, as I keep getting this "cue" instead of my desired result of making Opera my default Web browser. Such a simple thing, there's even a setting for it, but I must be using the checkbox improperly?

    This issue along with the ridiculous ads in the start menu were the final straws for my household. Coupled with the telemetry, horrible update processes, etc.
    I have been 100% Linux for about 3 years now, except for an old Win 10 Laptop I kept around "just in case". Meanwhile my wife was nearly 100% a MAC user, with a Laptop, tablet, phones, watch, but had a "just in case" win 10 PC.
    Well I am buying her a Mac Mini M2 for a new desktop and I am converting the laptop to Mint. The old PC will become a linux server. That will make us 100% Microsoft free.

    Linux MInt is the best OS for windows newbies. Sure you have to use terminal occasionally because there is no other way but in 90 percent of cases you would need an .appimage or .deb file which is two forms of exe. deb is debian only and appimage is universal.
