The rules on foods change frequently. Check frequently on rules in and out of Canada. We were stopped because our dog food bag was unsealed. Same rule on the way back to US. Has to be US dog food. We also travel with 2 Aussies. Red bi and red Merle.
As a Canadian who spends my weekends in the US I am staggered and amazed they let you in so easily after you told them you were coming from Mexico. That's usually a *huge* red flag! I highly recommend never volunteering any information while crossing the border in either direction because Customs sometimes put 2 and 2 together and come up with 5.

You didn’t get to see his scowl 😆 but I’m sure they are instructed to be extra serious. It was just a funny interaction in comparison to our only other border crossing experience where it was all smiles. Overall, a smooth experience though!
I agree. Iive in northern maine 3 miles from border. I have crossed hundreds of times with my fifth wheel, as a tourist and when driving a tractor trailer. JUST ANSWER THE QUESTIONS.
Aye, You are smooth operators. Fantastic work HE who goes through customs like a breeze has a Bar now set high but Aye no worries back to back zoom zoom crossings SIMPLY MARVELOUS JUST LET IT BE.
Yep - I have no idea what this guy is complaining about. I have had aggressive/disrespectful border security on the US side but just kept calm and answered the questions and got through just fine.
I love that you include us in your "figuring it out" conversations between the two of you. I KNOW that those cockpit discussions can be VERY personal sometimes. You guys crack me up.
From the RV videos I've seen, I have noticed that the US campsites r mostly close together with very few trees. In Canada, most of our campsites r huge with tons of trees surrounding the sites. Niagara Falls is beautiful, have a wonderful time exploring part of our country.
Yes, I was pleasantly surprised at the spaciousness of the sites at Elora Gorge! Some campgrounds in the US are like that but often much tighter so it was definitely nice to see!
Ok - Canadian trucker here - this will help if still in the country - all bridges are marked - sort of - meaning - you want to see 4.1 for your type of trailer = good to go. If the bridges AREN'T marked - they're greater than 4.1 and you don't need to worry about them and if you see a 3.9 sat good-by to the top of your trailer. All hydro wires in are supposed to be 4.1 or higher. Oh and if you don't have a schedule - drive to Quebce City - it's like going to Europe and Quebecers take their Rving VERY Seriously and have amazing campgrounds.
ahh good to know! and we'll have to add Quebec City to our list for one day! I bet their fancy campgrounds will definitely beat the KOA we stayed at! 😄
It's not the getting into Canada that's tough, it's getting back into the US! Going into Canada, we had two children sleeping in the back of our motorhome, they didn't even look...... I handed them their passports, but they never even looked at them. Coming back into USA was lots more questions, looked over all passports, vehicle registrations, dog immunizations.... all of it! Good luck!
Oh goodness!! We’ve heard a lot of stories like that too. And then some the opposite, I really feel like it must be a toss up on who you get and what kind of day they are having 😅
I’m Canadian and live about 5 minutes from the Bluewater bridge. As crossings go he was pretty easy on you. I know a few security agents and it’s a very serious job. You wouldn’t believe the oddballs they come in contact with. You were prepared, had your paperwork ready and did everything correctly. Great job👍
thanks! yes, overall a very smooth crossing, we were happy to get to skip "secondary inspections" 😆 We had a great time and met wonderful people on our trip, hope to spend more time visiting one day!
i can tell you are very young I use to cross in to Canada at the blue water Bridge and in detroit from 1966 to 1989 and the Canada Customs were 1000% nicer
@@dknowles60- Things were different for sure. We were crossing into Detroit around 1996, driving from Toronto to Chicago. All I had was a driver license for identification. No passport or birth certificate. It would have been a turn around and drive three more hours back home. Instead, the American border guard gave me heck and let us in. Not today! We love to do road trips in the US and we are all lucky to have such good international relationships, but remember your passport!
Any border whether by land or plane you will always have serious patrol. They have a huge job to do. Nothing about it is friendly. As a Canadian who has travelled lots, it’s always the same
They can't be friendly. They have to be serious and professional in their approach to minimize the chances that someone might try to charm their way into Canada.
I disagree. I have passed through many US and Canadian borders over my 70+ years and have found a lot of friendly guards on both sides. You get back what you give out usually. @@stevestruthers6180
They were in the truck lane because that’s a Bennett Trucking RV hauler. The Oregon transporter plate on the back of the RV. They’re commercial and therefore use the truck lane.💁🏻♂️
"Huh" is not the American equivalent of "eh"? "Huh?" is just a lazy way of saying "Pardon me?" I think the functional equivalent of "eh" is more like ""Right?" or "Ya feel me?"
As Canadians who Rv in the states we quite often get serious faced US. Border guards too. They frequently have checked we don’t have people hiding in the trailer to sneak into the USA.
Oh interesting!! I'm almost certain that all the border partrol agents have morning meetings where they practice their "mean mugs" before heading to their booths 🤣🤣
@@livinginavwvan207 then I’m not sure why they ask if anyone’s in the trailer then ask for our keys? Maybe some lanes don’t have X-ray… has been a few years since the last time they asked… but it has happened several times
@@karrieheikoop7349 They're seeing if you are lying. Someone (on here) didnt mention their cat that was in the trailer and the guard knew from the heat footprint.
Apologies you got the impression we thought his questions were mean 😅 like we said in the video, him asking about firearms was totally understandable. It was just the permanent “mean mug” for lack of a better description that kind of caught us off guard 😆 but overall a smooth crossing for sure!
My late Wife was a Customs Officer for over 31 yrs . you got over Really Easy Their lol ,even after you said their in Florida and Yous were coming up from Mexico !! You had a Nice Customs Officer
Hello from Saskatchewan. Welcome to Canada 🇨🇦. Glad to see you had no trouble at the border. I agree with you 100% about what lanes you need to be in when crossing borders. Have fun and stay safe.
I live on the Sarnia Canada , where you entered Canada, trust me it's way worse going into Port Huron USA, often checking our trunks and grilling us. You got off easy as hell!
I'm originally from Sarnia but moved away about 40 years ago. I can confirm that even back then it was pretty much the same story, the US border guards were always pretty hard-nosed about stuff. That's why it was always such a relief to come back home. I still remember the day I checked out a porno theatre in Port Huron with a few friends. When we got back, we encountered a female Customs officer at the checkpoint. We told her where we'd been, and then, with a smile and a conspiratorial tone in her voice, she said, "Did you bring back any toys?" She was referring to sex toys, which were illegal in Canada at the time. We all broke out laughing and said, "No". She chuckled a bit and waved us through.
@@stevestruthers6180 I think it was called Cinema Blue? I might be wrong, it was a kinda right of passage as a kid in Sarnia, I'm pretty sure we were under age too. I used to go to concerts in the States up until covid and was always nervous dealing with US border guards but I gave up going over there, not worth the hassle. Cheers
@@stevestruthers6180 I was at Northern but had friends at St Clair, actually I thought your name sounded familiar and thought of a Struthers with a late 50s Corvette possibly? I was a car guy with my 67 mustang
That was absolutely perfect. Him “So far it looks exactly the same , I don’t know you just crossing a border to expect some kind of glamorous change.” >> cut to Narnia scene 🤣😂
I'm sure most Canadians have had a similar experience whenever they crossed over into Alaska. I felt like a grilled mackeral when I crossed over into Alaska.
One thing that you did not bring up and does trip up a lot of Americans entering Canada, is that pepper spray/mace is prohibited in Canada. As a rule, Canadian border officials are straight forward and easier than the US officials.
When I was OTR trucking, I stopped taking Canadian loads. Canada was easy. I usually crossed at Kings Gate, Idaho....The Canadian border people were always pleasant. Getting back into the US was a pain in the ass.........I just got tired of the insulting aggravation.....
Hi! We live in Buffalo (WNY) area (62 years). If you haven’t crossed the border yet, use either the Niagara Falls one or Lewiston. Those are not as busy as Peace Bridge. It’s always easier to get to Canada than coming home. Don’t be surprised how much they will give you a hard time coming home to USA! One of the questions they may ask is if you bought any liquor in Canada (you are allowed to buy it cheaper in Canada and bring it back here. Depending on how long you have been there, is how much you can bring back.). Also, the easiest place to get wings will be Duffs on Transit Rd in the Eastern Hills Mall. Plenty of space to park your RV, and in a good neighborhood. Also, it is only a mile off the 90 Thruway exit. Actually Bar Bills is right by here as well as (a close empty parking lot as well) and Anchor Bar is also right here by the exit as well. We would love to meet you two if you are interested in lunch/ dinner.. Message me!
Well, we did end up doing the Peace Bridge Crossing as we read it was the biggest (for big rigs) but it was quite busy! overall went smoothly though. Thanks for coming along!
A good tip for crossing the border is only answer what they ask you, don't add anything extra. When he asked if you had any guns just say no, don't add I left them at home LOL. When you cross back into the US you might want to go down to the Peace Bridge at the end of the QEW. Bigger crossing with shorter wait times and you can go straight on the highway.
The gun thing??? what if you say just NO but they pull. you up and it shows you have a CCC? then you just lied. Its better to says yes I own one but I put it in storage before we crossed. So you do own one, but, but no its not in your possession.
Crossing into Canada. Don't volunteer anything. Keep your mouth shut other than a genral polite " hello, or good day" answer questions honestly with the minimum words to answer. Its no big deal if you relax and do what they are asking. They want nothing more from you. Have flow private planes and vehicles over the border several hundred times and have only been pulled aside for a Secondary check three times. Canads great, and worth your time! Friendly people!
Wow, I have lived in Canada for over 60 years and have yet to hear a Canadian say "eh" as a matter of course. I do however frequently hear it from American visitors...lol.
That was not mean ! I went to the US a few years ago, I was held up at the Fort Erie boarder for about 4 hours and fingerprinted than let me go to Pennsylvania. I still dont know why all the hassle !!!!
I love your characters VicCraig. You both are so blessed being young and traveling so much. With all due respect Craig, your wife has a beautiful soul and Spirit.
A good thing is if for whatever reason you can’t take something in and you don’t want to discard it, you can turn around and go back out and go the way you can get another way to get to where you want to go.
Nope, if you attempt a border crossing and elect to turn around the border agents register your actions and it’s shared with all points of entry, just discard it, it’s not worth getting flagged at the border, it also effects your travel to other countries you may wish to visit. INTERPOL makes note of flagged remarks from all border agencies.
We crossed the Calais border into Canada. They were really nice. We must of talked with them for like 5 minutes. No one behind us and on the way back the same thing. They did ask where we were going but you guys went through a very busy crossing.
My favorite border crossing is the ole Calais crossing, don’t get stuck being Re routed to their new border crossing facility there, it takes forever to get through and such a hassle!
That looked like one of the easiest crosses I've seen. Going into the States once they wanted to know where we worked. Why we were driving a Ford if we worked for GM. We played 20 questions for a while. Also over 90% of gun crimes committed in Toronto are with guns traced back to the U.S. That is probably why they are so serious about stopping it when they can.
use to drive semi to Edmonton and going into Canada was easy but coming back home to the U S our boarder patrol treat truckers like crap you get X-rayed then about 25 % of the time they unload the whole trailer and then scale it out again to make sure they did not reload it wrong and we have to pay cash to cross back into my own country just gotta basically fine us to come home
It’s very helpful to me and my family because we plan on traveling around the United States, Mexico and Canada in our RV’s getting these Tips are extremely important to Us.
We almost bought a Brinkley for my wife's upgrade (traveling medical worker), but held off figuring they need a couple years to work out all the kinks. We ended up with a Reflection, but all in all both are great rigs. Sorry to see all the weird issues you have been having. We lost our fridge on the first trip. Every one of these things is built like crap. Its kind of crazy.
We had our 5th wheel searched one time going into Canada. It was 4th of July and young agents I think were upset about having to work that day. They found a gun lock in one of our drawers that we had gotten free at an RV rally and kept wanting to know why. Explained that we did not have any guns with us. They searched every cabinet, etc. and asked if they brought the dog would he find anything. I said no. What I forgot and could have been a problem was I had a Ramset fastener tool in my cargo bay and the .22 cartridges that it uses and the dog would have picked upon them! Had our grandkids with us and sat outside for about 45 minutes while they did their thing.
At least they didn’t empty your truck out! Around 1966/7 the US border guys emptied our station wagon completely out. I remember it was dark by the time they finished. Mom was NOT impressed! My parents had 5 kids & a dog, the youngest was 3yo. And we weren’t ‘Klingons’…Mom had to keep telling us to stay close! They emptied it and they walked away so my parents (most likely just Dad)had to repack! We were camping & had a tent trailer. I can’t remember if they opened it. Thankfully my hubs & kids never had that happen! We next go down to the States next October with a 5th wheel so….
the border guards intentionally try to make you nervous. it's part of their psychological profiling. if your flustered you are more likely to give yourself away if you are smuggling.
They don't have to be dicks about it. Cause that's what they are...I cross into the U.S. all the time and they are friendly and cordial 99 % of the time...
We have been Rving over 30 years and cross the border between USA and Canada multiple times per year. What you got was nothing but an easy crossing. We are Canadian and have been stuck at the US customs in Emerson for just over 4 hours and at Canadain Customs for 2 hrs both times searched. It all depends on the border agent and how you answer their questions. Our last trip the US officer asked how long we were going to be in USA and I answered honestly we didn't know. He corrected me and said never say that to an agent, we intended on 3 to 4 weeks and he said thats how you answer. So it all depends on the agent. Also always check the border crossing web site for prohibited foods as this changes regular. Lately chicken and eggs have been on and off the list as no go items.
Welcome to Canada 🇨🇦 we live about 1hr north of Alora Gourge. You picked a beautiful stop..Canadian side of the Falls is much nicer and there is plenty to do Enjoy your time in Canada ❤
Wow, you were let through with a few questions . . . don't get me started on the number of times I've crossed the border from Vancouver Canada into the U.S., and at least twice was almost in tears by the time I was allowed to cross . . . grumpy border crossing guards are not uncommon . . . having state this, I've run into some who were kind, cordial and friendly. I guess those are the ones who actually like their jobs and can still be professional when questioning you! I hope you enjoyed your Canadian adventure! We Canadians may be reserved but we'll be the first to help you when you need it . . . hope you visit again . . . especially B.C., which in my opinion is the most beautiful Province.
Craig and Victoria when you get time later on if you need a better hitch for your truck to pull the RV or traveling trailer, get in touch with Nick the Hitch. He is on UA-cam; we watch him help another RV travelers because you guys travel a lot as well. Safe travels
That hitch is actually the one we have! A PullRite Superglide hitch. Been using it for over two years since we first set out on the road and love it. It's great since we have the short bed truck, would highly recommend it if you need a slider hitch!
WOW!!! Watching your video and when you said you were going to the Elora Gorge, (and yes you pronounced it properly) I was glad I was sitting down because I would have fallen on the floor. I grew up in Elora, Ont. as a kid friends and I would go to the Gorge every day in the summer
We almost always get the rv searched going into the USA, especially the fridge. It was really interesting when he wanted the fridge opened but the area between the guard booths were too narrow to open the slide wide enough.
That was the smoothest crossing into Canada I've ever seen from an RV'er. I'm Canadian and when I come back home we get grilled harder than that lol! Pretty fortunate they didn't make you do secondary inspection, you had horseshoes stuck up somewhere that day lol!
Lol no, I had heard of having a stick up your butt, but just looked up the horseshoe thing and LOL I had no clue that was a saying 🤣 we’ve had 4 smooth border crossings now though, so you might be right! 😆
Thanks so much!! We've gotten a few border crossings under our belt now, but I feel like we'll always be nervous about them, especially towing the RV, it's just such a busy and stressful event lol
As a Canadian I’m glad our border patrols are serious, we like our peaceful country . Guns left at home were a great idea. Hope you had nice trip in and back out. Cheers
@@fremontpathfinder8463 Visit Toronto or Vancouver it's the same leftist shitholes whatever country. Except in Canada only the bad guys have guns badged or not.
When I was in the Air Force we drove through Canada to get to Alaska where I was stationed. When we went through Border patrol they asked “ where are your weapons?” Love your. Idea. Met you through Open Roading. 🌅🌅
It was what we explained after the crossing, just the permanent “mean mug” facial expression. But, I’m sure border agents are instructed to be extra serious, it was just a funny contrast to the only other border crossing experience we’d had to Mexico where there were serious and professional questions but no permanent scowls to go along with them 😅. Overall a smooth experience as you saw in the video!
As a dual citizen, US and Canada, I agree with the never say Ehh unless you’re a Canadian and even then we don’t do that that much. My older family members use it without thinking younger ones proudly use it declaring Canadian pride. I crossed that same border when I see my family, love those border crossings US side is far more uptight than Canadian side makes me proud to have Canada in my blood.
If there’s one thing we’ve learned, it’s that there’s all types of people in all the countries 😄 for example, we had tons of Canadians who were able to laugh along with us at our “eh” joke, just like we’d laugh along with someone coming to the South (where we’re from) and joking about saying “y’all” or “howdy” lol. But, then there were plenty of people who took us way more seriously than we take ourselves. All just depends on the person, no matter where you are. Even with border crossings we’ve had a full range of experiences with the guards no matter which country we were crossing at
Kitchener is really lumped in with Kitchener/Waterloo/Cambridge and sometimes Guelph. It's 4 cities that are very very close with near to no distance in borders. Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge even all share a single transit system. The population is somewhere around 580K. You happened to wander into the city I live in.
We noticed that after exploring a little more, about it being kind of 4 cities in 1. I liked it! Each area kind of had its own vibe but everything was still close
Part of the attitude of the Canadian crossing guard was possibly Craig's southern accent. We were over the road truckers and had a load going into Canada. We went through the truck lane and you get out of your truck and they x-ray it then do an inspection. We were then told to go to an office and they verify your paperwork. Well as we are walking out we are accompanied by 2 guards. The female told my husband to take his hands out of his pocket in a very aggressive voice though it was nearly freezing at the time. Then as we get to the truck we are asked if we have any weapons on the truck. We told them "No." They then asked "So you don't have any guns on the truck?" We repeated no. Then they asked if we owned any guns. My husband was confused and asked "What did it matter if they weren't on the truck?" I was wondering the same thing. We told them we had some rifles back at home. Then the guy searched our truck again while the woman gave us the evil eye. They found nothing of course and let us go on our way. We delivered, picked up our next load and headed back to the U.S.A. We had been told that getting back into the states would be harder. Nope they just said "Welcome home." Later we were at the closest operating center to where we entered into Canada and there were frequently Canadian drivers there. One guy came up as I was talking to a couple of other drivers telling them about our story. He told me he had been in earlier when my husband was up and heard us talking. He told me that they profiled us on his southern accent and that many Canadians think that all southerners are gun crazy lunatics. We just discovered your channel 2 days ago. Enjoying your travels.
Oh wow! Yeah, I definitely don’t think Craig southern accent helped much but thankful we managed to get through with a pretty smooth experience overall. We had a similar experience as you when crossing back to the states, which you’ll see on Sunday!
Canada has a serious problem with illegal guns being smuggled into Canada and this is why the border guards are so focused on and serious about whether you are carrying any guns, regardless of whether they were illegally acquired or not. Many Americans make the mistake of trying to bring their guns into Canada thinking that the Second Amendment applies in Canada. It doesn't, as Canada is a sovereign country and has different laws. Americans can bring in their guns for authorized purposes such as hunting or sport shooting, but they have to have the proper permits arranged ahead of time before crossing.
@@stevestruthers6180 Our issue was more that though we didn't have guns on the truck they were still questioning us about the guns we had back in the states.
It only someone’s opinion and it’s wrong. They think ALL Americans have guns. And the question asked 3 times is on purpose to see if you answered differently.
@@wildrvlife - Yea, Canadeh's west... Alberta and British Columbia are very beautiful as compared to the central (flat) parries. There's great hiking and lots of freshwater lakes throughout. So if you enjoy boating/canoeing/fishing, you will have much fun.

Kitchener-Waterloo is not considered a large city, more like a university town. Cannabis is totally legal in Canada, you just can't import it. That's my understanding anyway.

I live in the Midwest and visited Ontario and Manitoba where English is predominate language but many things are in English and French. I visited Quebec for the first time and everything there is in French period.
The questions regarding the guns was simple, they know you have carry permits, it's in the database they are looking at. You answered honestly, directly and promptly so there wasn't any worry that you were lying.
I'm 99% sure he let us go after Craig answered, because who would lie to say they had just come from Mexico when asked about guns 🤣 Craig and I are still laughing about him going into those details. Next crossing we will try to keep details to a minimum lol
I live in Michigan and we cross back and fourth to Canada and that a very normal experience when crossing the border. Also I love you truck. I had a 2023 with the same paint and it was totaled in a accident. I cant get another one like it unfortunately. They don't offer the two tone in 2024 models. I miss my truck so much.
We went to Canada in June. Three times the agent asked us if we had a concealed weapon. Finally i realized the issue. I said we had our conceal carry permits in NC but we didn't have our guns. He moved on.
We loved youre glamping Dome. It was so cozy and decorated sooo nice. The wood chopping was a little excruciating for your muscles, HaHa.You guys be safe and be careful!!! Love Liz and Len!!!
I live 30 minutes from the Blue Water Bridge, we used to go to Canada all the time when we were teens because their drinking age was lower than ours in Michigan 😂 A Also you're right, the Canadian border officers are always very serious.
Actually, he pronounced _"Poutine"_ rather well. If he ordered it in Quebec, they wouldn't think twice about it. Although, they might raise their eyebrows if he said "Eh!" after it. That's more of an Atlantic Provinces' expression. I'm surprised to hear that poutine is sold in Kitchener! It's mainly a Quebecois dish, but there are some restaurants in the Toronto area and East of Toronto that sells it. Quebec has some restaurants that sell mainly poutine. You can get lots of variations of it. The best that I've had was. Boeuf Bourguignon Poutine. 😋
@@wildrvlife Quebec is beautiful! In fact, Quebec City is one of the most beautiful cities in North America. It's definitely the longest continually inhabited city in North America. If you go, I recommend the late Spring through to the end of the Summer.
If you get poutine in Quebec, try the version that adds chopped Montreal smoked meat on top. Delicious. And while you are at it, get a couple of steamed hot dogs w mustard and “Chou”… that’s coleslaw. Enjoy.

They got me coming back to the us about 25 years ago with the question "what country do you claim to be from"? I had to think about it.... I mean I've never been asked that before. I answered with what, I think 4 times before he said just go. Once about 20 years ago trying to get back to the us, Sars was running rampant and they closed the bridges back to the states. After multiple bridges.... without knowing what had happened, we ended up jumping a curb and driving thru the barrel blockade. Strangely there was no one around to watch the bridges
It use to be very easy to cross into Canada just show your drivers license. They use to want the people from USA to cross and spend money there but they do not seem to want that anymore. Some of the crossings now have a USA border stop before the Canadian and they will ask about guns, etc so you do not cross into Canada with anything. Hope you guys have a great time there. We use to cross a couple times a month at least but not anymore, we instead started going to Northern Minnesota and Wisconsin, there is awesome fishing in the south west corner of Wisconsin and bluffs and valleys to hike. Hope you guys stay safe and healthy.
Yes, they are imposing US check points just before the Canadian borders, they want to confiscate guns, money, food stuffs whatever before the Canadian agents get to them… this is very real people!
We just found your channel and we love your excitement and the fun you have. We were full timers in our 5th wheel for 6 years with our son and now are getting back into it. We too have never been to Canada but will in 2024. Keep up the great work and enjoy the journey.

When I was a kid, ( pre 9/11) we went to Canada by car many times. It was so easy, don't even know if my father showed a driver's license. No passports, no other IDs. They asked, where you're from, where you're going, how long are you staying, purpose of the visit, business or pleasure?
I have been back and forth across the USA CANADIAN border 3 times. I really never had an issue even with my R.V. Yes , they search all your stuff , ask you the "nornal" 20 questions , looked at my paperwork , all good. BTW , Canada insurance requirements are a little different so contact your insurance company and make sure you DO gave the correct coverages and paperwork for Canada. I did my research and all was good.

Unfortunately, money is a priority and most US citizens are desensitized to sardine can campsites.

Just don’t offer any extra information that isn’t specifically asked!
Answer yes or no questions with only a yes or no. Open questions with one sentence. A short one sentence answer.
Instead of throwing out the veggies or eggs, you could cook them and freeze them. Once it's prepared and cooked as a meal it's ok to carry it frozen.
that's a good idea!
They didnt check any of that. They have bigger fish to fry than what you have in your fridge. Freak out over nothing.
That was an easy crossing. If they wanted to play hardball you would have been directed to 'secondary'. Victoria rocks!
Very happy to have avoided the secondary inspection 🙌🏼
Any border whether by land or plane you will always have serious patrol. They have a huge job to do. Nothing about it is friendly. As a Canadian who has travelled lots, it’s always the same
They can't be friendly. They have to be serious and professional in their approach to minimize the chances that someone might try to charm their way into Canada.
I disagree. I have passed through many US and Canadian borders over my 70+ years and have found a lot of friendly guards on both sides. You get back what you give out usually. @@stevestruthers6180

Haha!!! I never thought of that. So true!
I stay true to my Canadian roots…if anyone catches it, “eh” is a good conversation starter, eh!
The "eh" is an eastern Canadian thing. Out west you rarely hear that unless you listening to someone from down east.
This is true. I heard it a lot in Toronto but hardly ever out west (Calgary, Vancouver, etc). @@morganborrowman1650
"Huh" is not the American equivalent of "eh"? "Huh?" is just a lazy way of saying "Pardon me?"

yea, it went quicker and easier than expected!

Good to know about Peace Bridge! Thank you! and yes... lol next time, we're sticking to single word answers 🤣😂

A good thing is if for whatever reason you can’t take something in and you don’t want to discard it, you can turn around and go back out and go the way you can get another way to get to where you want to go.
That is good to know!

That is probably why they are so serious about stopping it when they can.

use to drive semi to Edmonton and going into Canada was easy but coming back home to the U S our boarder patrol treat truckers like crap you get X-rayed then about 25 % of the time they unload the whole trailer and then scale it out again to make sure they did not reload it wrong and we have to pay cash to cross back into my own country just gotta

4th of July is just a regular day in Canada. Had you come on the 1st of July they may not have wanted to work that day.
We next go down to the States next October with a 5th wheel so….
one tip crossing the boarder either way when you pull up put your back window down
the border guards intentionally try to make you nervous. it's part of their psychological profiling.
if your flustered you are more likely to give yourself away if you are smuggling.

Border patrol they asked “ where are your weapons?” Love your. Idea. Met you through Open Roading. 🌅🌅
Sorry - what was the "mean" part??? Those were absolutely legitimate questions asked in a professional manner.
Even with border crossings we’ve had a full range of experiences with the guards no matter which country we were crossing at
FYI - if you have a dwi or a felony conviction they can refuse you entry.
'that all southerners are gun crazy lunatics' Are they wrong?
@@stevestruthers6180 Our issue was more that though we didn't have guns on the truck they were still questioning us about the guns we had back in the states.
It only someone’s opinion and it’s wrong. They think ALL Americans have guns. And the question asked 3 times is on purpose to see if you answered differently.

@@firefly9838he's being sarcastic
yes for sure you will have to keep in touch maybe we can show you around here for a bit
Exactly.
Ohhh interesting. I was wondering if it came up from scanning the passport or something
We only got a little "attitude" going from Montana to Canada. All other USA/Canada Border crossings were pleasant 👍
Take your shades off when you cross the border
We loved youre glamping Dome. It was so cozy and decorated sooo nice. The wood chopping was a little excruciating for your muscles, HaHa.You guys be safe and be careful!!! Love Liz and Len!!!
I live 30 minutes from the Blue Water Bridge, we used to go to Canada all the time when we were teens because their drinking age was lower than ours in Michigan 😂 A
Also you're right, the Canadian border officers are always very serious.
Hahah! I never thought about that! I bet that was pretty common 😆
That was easy, try going as a Canadian into the states!
Eastern Canada is very different than western, our truck stops are called truck stops😁
Lol good to know! We’re hoping to visit western Canada next year!
Funny video. Nothing sketchy about coming from Florida to Mexico to Canada 🤪 I would have searched you for sure😂😅
LOL right! I can't believe Craig said that 😂
thas a Beautiful dog!!
Thank you!!
Ooh now that sounds quite delicious! We will definitely have to visit Quebec one day for poutine too. Gotta get some from the source!
@@wildrvlife
Quebec is beautiful! In fact, Quebec City is one of the most beautiful cities in North America. It's definitely the longest continually inhabited city in North America.
Being fluent in French, I nearly moved to Quebec. Either Montreal or Quebec City... but the whole province has something to offer.
Enjoy.
@@dbird1356
If you really want to get the best Montreal Smoked Meat experience, try it on rye bread or a bagel from either Schwartz's Deli or Dunn's Famous! Can't beat it! 😋👍
@@MickPsyphon I know them well. 😋
Crazy how things like that change over time, though I can understand why with some of the things happening in today's world
Yes, they are imposing US check points just before the Canadian borders, they want to confiscate guns, money, food stuffs whatever before the Canadian agents get to them… this is very real people!
We just found your channel and we love your excitement and the fun you have. We were full timers in our 5th wheel for 6 years with our son and now are getting back into it. We too have never been to Canada but will in 2024. Keep up the great work and enjoy the journey.
thank you so much and I hope you enjoy your trip to Canada next year! We will be going through the western part of the country on our way to/from Alaska as well next year!
@@wildrvlifewhoohooo! Make sure to come through Calgary - Banff - Lake Louise - Jasper and then north to Alaska. Such a beautiful route!
If you have a permit to carry in your home state it may flag on your license.
When I was a kid, ( pre 9/11) we went to Canada by car many times. It was so easy, don't even know if my father showed a driver's license. No passports, no other IDs. They asked, where you're from, where you're going, how long are you staying, purpose of the visit, business or pleasure?
yea them were the days
Answer the Border Guards question directly.
DON'T volunteer information.
like telling them we had just recently come from Mexico? 🤣😂 we're still laughing about Craig saying that lol
We have progressive and from the research I did, we should be good. But will probably call to make extra sure before we spend long there next year. Thanks for watching!
It is the information that is printed on your policy page that must meet the Canadian requirements.
It is not the same as here in USA
You guys ROCK, love you two!! You guys banter back and forth just like my wife and I do. It’s the greatest😂!!
Keep the videos coming, you both are addictive.
Have a great trip in Canada. Greetings from Southern California!! Travel safe.
Thank you so much!! We like to give each other a hard time 😆🤣 thank you for the support!
I'm canadian and it's the same impression both ways from the officers😉!
Hey guys. I've been binge watching you for a month now and love all the videos. I'm planning to RV live full time very soon and I appreciate all your experiences/ tips and mistakes. I live in Kamloops BC Canada so if you're passing thru let me know. Happy trails... :)
Thank you so much!! Glad we can be of some help and congrats on the upcoming transition to RV life! It’s always an adventure when you’re on the road 😁
Crossed from USA into Canada today in our U.K. registered truck camper, only asked for passports, everything is at the discretion of the border person.Shopped for food once in Canada.
As a Canadian I approve this channel, that was some funny stuff. Hubby got it right. Eh
haha thank you so much for the support!
I love elora gorge ! We camped their many times as kids. I hope you get time to float down the gorge on a inner tube or jump off the cliffs into the rock quarry
We felt like the water was a little too chilly, but did really enjoy exploring the area!
Love watching y’all my husband is Canadian they are always serious at the boarder crossing! 😅 hope you have it that easy coming back into the US. That’s usually where we have more questions asked of us and we’ve been searched before. 😅 but we’ve never taken a camper across so that’s a little more scary. Glad you did this content. It was good to watch. Can’t wait to see you when you cross back! But I love it in Canada. Everybody is so friendly. Enjoy your trip!
Yes, we are very curious about what crossing back will be like! We’ve heard they can be a little more difficult going into the US. We’re having a great time here, thank you so much! And once we got across the border, it’s been all smiles from everyone! 😆
