Who are we?
We’re Victoria & Craig, a full-time travel couple currently living the RV lifestyle! In 2021, we realized life was too short to wait to chase our dreams, so we purchased a used fifth wheel camper and completely renovated it. After selling our house in Florida, we set off on our journey as full-time RVers. Full time RV living has taken us across the United States, Baja Mexico, and Canada, where we’ve fallen in love with boondocking in stunning locations and living an epic adventure travel lifestyle. In 2023, we upgraded to a brand new Brinkley RV Model Z 3100.

Every time I go across the border to USA, I always come back sick....even when I try to eat healthy.

Hi Guys! MY wife and I met in Tallahassee at FSU in 1969. Been married for 53 years this year. Bought our first motor home in 1971. We RVed for 45 years. Had many different rigs. We averaged about 7 months a year on the road and about 3 months a year boondocking on some of the 640,000,000 acres of 'Public Lands' managed by our BLM. BLM does not own the land, we do. We were really proficient at boondocking. Every time I watch one of your videos, I want to give you suggestion on a different way of doing stuff that will make boondocking a bit easier. We sold everything and now just stay home in Oregon. We always owned lots of real estate because we knew that RVs depreciate with time and real estate in the long run always goes up. For about the last 25 years of RVing, we spent 7 months a year on the road and than 5 months a year living in our home in Oregon. We have no children and only pets. Oh, what a great life it has been. We had no jobs whenever when we were on the road. It was just a LONG vacation. Now with Star Link and the like, you can work remote. What a really great thing to be able to do that. Oh wow!! Craig and I lived in Tallahassee for 7 years before selling our house and hitting the road. I love your story and congrats on 53 years!! And we’ll always welcome boondocking tips, we love taking our RV off grid. Going to be much harder to do that on the east coast but we’ll be heading out west again after the holidays!
Here's a couple you might like. The water bladder is what we used. Buy a water pump that is the same pump your 5th wheel uses. Make a wiring harness that allows you to pump water into your rig from your pickup DC outlet. It makes draining the bladder fast and easy. Now when you are boondocking and your water pump goes out, just use your spare pump. Here's one more. As you know from traveling in rural and small town Mexico, most places have a sign in the restrooms to please put all toilet paper in the trash can next to the toilet. Do that in your RV and then burn your toilet trash in your campfire every day or every other day. If you do that, there is no odor and it's easy to do. You can easily extend your black water by double or more. Make Craig pee outdoors when appropriate. If Craig pees in the RV, make him sit down on the toilet like a girlie girl. You'll always have a clean toilet area. No peeing on the toilet seat or floor. Good luck Thanks for the response!

I think you should change the title of your video to “ RV ing in Southern Ontario “ . You only cover an incredibly small area of Canada! And it is by no means a good summary of Canadian sights and experiences.

I'm Texan gone Canadian. Canadians, at least Albertans, are all about the outdoors. In May, you will see the streets lined with RVs in people's driveways getting it ready for the season. During the summer, you see rvs coming and going all the time. Canada is all about being rustic. Will say, you must get to the Candian Rockies near Canmore, Alberta. Mount Kidd is very nice! Kelowna, BC (British Columbia), is wine country. Haven't been yet, but hope to soon.
Also, the Toonie is a 2$ coin. Dollars are dollars, but the coins are Toonies and Loonies (1$)
That's right, beautiful Alberta! And very Texas-like.
I'm Canadian, in a small town, there's tons of RVs traveling through our small town starting just in May. You don't see too many in the busier cities though.
Road tripped from Vancouver island to Prince Edward Island. So much to see in between. Western Alberta and British Columbia have the most majestic mountains and gorges. If you go back to Canada travel to these areas you won't be disappointed! I agree the US and Canada are so alike! The province of Quebec is different though because people speak french there, but if you ever go to Quebec be sure to visit Quebec City. Its like you are in a beautiful old European city.
That sounds like it was a great trip? How long did it take?
In June 2022, I drove from Banff to Toronto and really enjoyed it. Took 3 days with two drivers with no stops for sightseeing.
What you saw in Niagara was just a very small part of the experience. Buy a package deal and the prices drop dramatically. Niagara on the lake is not to be missed either.. I live less than an hour from the falls and have been literally hundreds of times..it never gets old..
I live in Kitchener. I thoroughly enjoyed hearing your viewpoint on the area. I love living here. City life with a fifteen minute drive to the country. I am glad you got to the St. Jacob’s Market. Elora is definitely busier in the summer. Just like in the U.S.A., our country is vast and each province has wonderful experiences and different scenery. I have travelled through both countries extensively, and you’re right, we have a lot in common. Good spots and not so great spots, but pretty much friendly people in both our wonderful countries. I recommend you get out of The Falls and continue east. Ontario is 11 + million Town after town is sure to impress you.
As you leave Ontario and land in Montreal in the Quebec province, 2nd in population largest in size.
I live on the Ottawa River facing Quebec and its magical.
One of our best Provinces are The east cost beautiful ocean lakes streams space, eastcoasters are some of our finest people.
Maybe next time your able.
The west is as they say God's country. You will not forget Canads west coat. Lots of Rv parks Rocky Mountains, pacific ocean, Alberta Bad lands, National parks, Lake Louise Lake Morain, west Edmonton Mall, were similar to US west coast but cheaper and way less populated.
Yukon, Nunavut, and the praires, so flat you can watch your (dog runaway for a week)
But it's the gateway to a different Ontario experience and it's breathtaking Grate lakes!
2nd largest Country in the world and the fewest amount of people. We have less people in Cananda then the State of California.

Great video. Next time you come to Canada, you should canvass your Canadian fans and see if anyone would be available/willing to curate a more effective tour. This video glanced a few interesting highlights but there's certainly more that could be done to ensure you get a more effective "Canadian" experience. I'm guessing you two have been to a rodeo before but a Canadian rodeo is really something...for example.
Video was funny and informative. Been to Canada with work for a Northern Excursion meeting our Canadian associates. Been to Niagara Falls with Family with two boys but stayed in Buffalo much cheaper and went to see many tours including the Butterfly museum in Canada, Maid of Mist, Cave Wind tour and Jet Boat Ride. The Canadian side was like Gatlinburg but had nice light up views at night. Went to Naval museum on Erie canal seeing the Seeing and exploring a destroyer and submarine. My Boys still talk about the little museum in Niagara of the vessels which showed pieces of and told about the people and gear trying to go over the falls. As Dad I preferred the Naval Expedition myself

My wife and I always enjoy watching the RV shows on here and follow several including yours. Your Canada trip really enjoyed it as we are formally Canadians and all our daughters were born in Canada but both them and us have lived in Florida for the past 26 years. We still go back once a year and Kitchener is where my sister and niece live and we visited them in August for my Mom's 95th birthday. My Mom who just passed away last Friday lived in Fergus which is just north west of the Elora Gorge you mentioned. My wife and I have both been to the Elora Gorge many years ago and didn't realize they had RV sites but at the time we only had a tent trailer and we finally graduated to a 5th wheel after several pull trailers along the way living in Florida. We love watching your adventures and one of these days we will do much more ourselves with our RV. We love having our home base in Port St. Lucie, Florida but once home for a while, we look forward to going with our RV again. Many times it is just short trips and of course, always being in a warm climate. Our last trip was in the Juno Beach RV Resort by the ocean and that was nice. Before that, we stayed at Fort Wilderness which was better than expected. I am really interested in how you managed to transfer your solar panels and controls from your old rig to your new Brinkley. I saw that episode with you removing it and that must have been a treat to take care of that but who installed it back in your new rig. I noticed on the aerial shots you have several panels. Although we have never gone boondocking I would love to try it. Being Florida you need AC most of the year except maybe in January perhaps. I was thinking of getting some panels and batteries but not sure if it is worth spending the money. I guess the only thing I am concerned about is enough for the AC to run. Especially at night wanting to sleep comfortably. Anyway, your Canada trip was great watching it as it brought back some memories and recognized some of the places you mentioned. By the way, Craig is a hoot. LOL

Great video ! I live 50 mins away from Niagara falls and go maybe a couple times a year usually in the summer and at Christmas to see all the lights they set up. You guys went a good time as usually it is packed as people of all ethnics travel from all over by bus etc , to visit there . Glad you enjoyed Canada aye , Ya all come back now , ya hear .
If you really want to stay at the coolest canyon like park in the northeast plan a trip to Letchworth state park south of Rochester NY. 600 feet deep, 18 miles long, three big waterfalls, and very cool hiking trails. Look it up. If you decide to go I will get my map out and tell you the best loop and camp site for a view. Love that place and I enjoy your travels.

@@wildrvlife Great, I went in the spring when the falls were roaring with water. Maybe next year I’ll go in the fall for the colors. I grew up in Warren Pennsylvania, about 100 miles southwest of there in the Allegheny National forest, a pretty area also. Safe travels!
In Québec, we have " buffets" where you pay once and then eat all you can. . .🙂 always get out too full and feeling bad. .
8:03 : A gorge is a deep valley with very steep to straight sides and a canyon is characterised by steep step-like side slopes and may be as deep as gorge. A gorge is almost equal in width at its top as well as its bottom. In contrast, a canyon is wider at its top that at its bottom.
I had a great time watching you guys get a taste of Canada. Funny thing, I was on my way to the Green Room for a beard shape and haircut. It truly is the best place Ive been in my life for a haircut. RVing must be big in Canada, I-15 is full of huge fancy snowbird RVs with Alberta plates in fall and spring.

May I add that after staying in Kitchener past August we to stayed in Niagra Falls for our 42nd anniversary and we stayed at the hotel overlooking the falls. Maybe next time we should take the RV.

7 days is nowhere enough time to see just all the amazing things in Southern Ontairo alone. Ontario takes 2 days of driving to go to one end to the other without stopping anything.
Then, there is the rest of Canada.
You can't do it all in one summer season.
Canada is an amazing place east to west, south to north.
We agree! And can’t wait to explore more of Canada in the coming years. We really enjoyed our short trip through this time!

I love Niagara Falls we went there. We went down in the boat which was so amazing. I highly recommend we didn’t do the walk but now that I’ve seen it. I’m glad we didn’t. Lol. Really enjoy your videos. Keep them coming.
Yeah after doing it, I was thinking the boat might be a better choice because we already got a really great view from the top for free outside the welcome center!
Canada is pretty big , there is so much more , where you guys went is pretty cool , we been there through the falls witch was nice but you guys gotta see the other provinces there is so many places to see

The gas prices are in litres. 188.9 is $1.88.9 per litre. Camping in Canada slows down after our Labour Day Holiday. The kids go back to school, so the retirees come out more in the fall. Our Thanksgiving Weekend is the end of camping for most Provincial Parks.

KOA is one of my standards I use for reviewing. When ever I go to an RV park where you can't open your canopy all the way without hitting the neighbors canopy that is "KOA Close". The only KOA we have stayed in with lots of room was in San Antonio Texas.

Hey guys I am from Niagara Falls. Everything is expensive! Wind is amazing and the falls is worth it! Koa is expensive but most campgrounds are pricey in Canada! Thanks for the honest views!
oh how cool! How is it living in the area? I assume that you probably have towns nearby where you can shop and what not without all the tourists, but is it still real busy all the time? We really enjoyed our trip there and personally, I (Victoria) would go back just to eat at Wind again! it was delicious!

Until the first week of October, called “Second Summer” most years. Eastern Canada all the way to the Atlantic is in the 70-75 degree range right now.
A couple quick notes:
A looney is a one dollar coin, because it has a loon (duck) on it.
A tooney is a two dollar coin, and called a tooney just for fun (it is two loons).
Gas/Diesel is in "pennies/liter" and quite a bit more expensive than in the US.

I seen the falls up close when my daughter got married. We had the wedding on one of those boats. US side. It was a great experience and wonderful day for a wedding! But as much of an great time it was I won't do it again. Too many people! Seeing the Hoover Dam was a one time thing too. Love your videos

The Guorge I know is on Highway 40 between Kingsport,Tnn. To North Carlinal line.
I used to take my girls camping all the time at the KOA in Niagara Falls when they were young. Was so nice to see a glimpse of it. While I still visit the Falls often I only drive by the KOA. But man 130.00 a night...that is nuts.
It would be such a great park for families, so many amenities and activities. But yeah…they clearly are capitalizing on the close proximity to the Falls with their prices! 😅
We have always stayed on Canadian side because cheaper. One time visited New Years and really spectacular with everything coated in ice. KOA campgrounds used to be very reasonable but recently have really hiked their prices.
Oh wow I bet it was amazing seeing everything coated in ice! Niagara Falls in the winter has to be an amazing time!
Try to lock the frames if the front or rear wheels have quick release skewers they can release the wheel and take the frames ur left with only the wheels still locked
Good advice. I typically do try to go through the frame, but we didn't go too far frome them on this hike.

Don't know where you're going in the states - you mentioned east coast - stop by Lake Placid and Fort Ticonderoga and or go up to Quebec City - happy trails

If you ever get the opportunity to return to Canada please go farther west to see the Rocky Mountains in Banff, and Revelstoke, and the amazing gorges, wilderness, oceans, and vineyards further west. Look up Wells Gray B.C.; Bamfield B.C.; Hornby Island B.C.; Okanagan B.C. Safe travels to wherever your journey takes you next.
Our dollar has a loon on it, so it became known as a loonie. When the two dollar coin was introduced, we started calling it a toonie. These are just nicknames, like your “green back”.
Also, you should have visited Niagra On The Lake, nicest town in North America

Your haircut looks great Craig. I agree about the KOA prices. The only KOA we liked was the first KOA ever built which is in Billings Montana and it had larger sites and deer even walked around the campground. Otherwise we avoid most KOA’s. Just curious what you do for work besides the channel?
ooh that's interesting to know about the original KOA. might have to check that one out if we get back in that area, but otherwise... we'll probably stay away from them 😆

The fuel prices are in liters. It is neat trying to do the conversion. But don't forget to stop at the duty free before you leave. It is a cool place to visit. Stay safe and God bless. Mary

@@wildrvlife I live in Ontario and we would say the price of diesel is a dollar eighty-nine. to confuse things more there are 3.78 litres in a US gallon but 4.54 litres in a Canadian gallon.

I'm not sure how delayed you release your videos, but if you're still in the area when you come into NY, look into Letchworth State Park. The campground has been booked because of the leaf change, but this gorge will not disappoint, and there are waterfalls.
We are a couple of weeks ahead..and you'll definitely want to stay tuned for our video 2 weeks from now because that is EXACTLY where we ended up! beautiful!

dang I didn't realize how good looking Creig is until he got that haircut. When we did Niagara, we didn't do that tunnel that you guys did . we were on the US side since we didn't take out passports lol long story. We did the boat that was called Maid of the midst at the falls and we you got real close to the falls you couldn't really see much it was like being in a cloud and got kind of wet even with the rain jackets, then we did a helicopter ride which was fantastic and got some really great pictures, then went down river a few miles and did a jet boat ride in which they soak you and that water was really cold, and we froze and it was August. but we had a really good time there.
Stop. I'm. I would have loved to do a helicopter tour around there.
My sister just did the same trip while visiting my brothers, one who lives in Waterloo. A lovely area. Had I known you were going there I would have recommended a trip to Elmira (a few miles northeast of St. Jacobs where the Farmer's Market is) and had you stop at the COOP grocery store and buy some Noah Martin's summer sausage!
Ohhh the train stopped there but we didn’t get off! Kind of wish we had now!

I went to Niagra Falls as a kid in the 1970's. Remember cable cars over whirlpools and going up a tower (The Skylon?). There were just a few tennis courts on the American side - I expect that has changed by now.
We saw the Skylon tower and thought about going up! I really just thought the yellow elevator on the outside of the tower would be so neat to ride! 😄
The cable car is the "Spanish Aero car" the the tower is the "Skylon tower" both still there.

If you went to Old City Quebec (I don't think you can manage a large RV there) you would see an area that doesn't mirror the U.S. Many old historical buildings, some that look like castles and the French influence. You would see French signs and hear it spoken and get more French food choices.
I hope to get up there one day we just didn't have time this year. But I love to see different types of architecture.

Touristy because it’s Niagara Falls! Hello? Also, it’s part of the GTA which is like over 3-5 million people. The city of Niagara Falls may have only 1000 people, but Toronto is just next-door with over 2 million people.
Camping in Alberta or BC mountains is an experience not to be missed.

The boat ride is better on the Canadian side but I think the falls tour was better on the US side. But all in all it’s a better experience on the Canadian side. Much nicer and cleaner. If you go back you should check out the American side as well. We stayed on the US side and walked across.

I like the first campsite you were in, seemed like there was lots of room. Not fond of KOA. I stayed in one in Nova Scotia and a lot of the sites were in a parking lot.
The sites at Elora Gorge were very nice, much more spacious and a lot cheaper too! Not along the bus route to Niagara Falls, but it was a really nice balance to the busyness of that area

Yeah we were surprised too but I definitely think it was Niagara Falls that really just made it so pricey. It was right along the bus route for the falls so it was very convenient

There's not really any need for bear spray in Southern Ontario where they were, as there's no grizzlies, or cougars. Out west inBC and Alberta there are, but not this far east & south.

Gas price is per litter. Slightly larger than a US quart. So approximately multiply by 4 to compare with a gallon US.
It was the fact that the gas station signs are in cents that was really throwing us for a loop! lol. We're used to seeing $4.79 for example, so when we were seeing 164.9 (or whatever it was), it just wasn't computing because it looked like $164.9...until we realized it's in cents so it's only $1.65 of course😆
We live in Waterloo region. You hit the area on a cooler week. It has been 27C/80F the last couple of days.

Umm…it was 121 degrees Fahrenheit in western Canada two years ago.
Quick tip that I learned when I visited is that if you hit a casino in Canada then you get the best exchange rate. You don't even have to play anything if you don't want. In the Niagara area you can also park for free so it is a double win.
Yes, and they were 5 minutes away from a casino when they were at the Elora Gorge.

Another spot I like to bring the dogs is, Tews Falls in Dundas Ont... it is part of the escarpment. Niagara is know for their wine and distilleries.check out wine tours in the area also local honey is popular there. Try Fort Erie as well or you can try Anna Mea's in Millbank Ontario for a true mennonite experience. Wish i seen your channel sooner

Thanks for this video. I'm Canadian and I love hearing how visitors to this country enjoy their stay. Frankly, I haven't heard too many criticisms that can't be explained simply by cultural differences. But hey, we should always be open to constructive criticism.
To answer your first question, Waterloo is a medium sized city that ranks generally in the same size as Ottawa, Windsor and Hamilton which makes it a "second tier city" with respect to population. Give me a leeway here since the difference in population of these cities can vary by a couple of hundred thousand. But the largest city by far in Ontario is Toronto and no other city comes close.
My first comment: please don't overdo the use by Canadians of "eh". Presumably it is intended as an interrogative to confirm agreement. However, I hate to destroy the common conception but "eh" is not used by Canadians as much as foreigners seem to believe.
Concerning your confusion with the price of gasoline, quite frankly I don't understand your dilemma. $1.88 per liter means one dollar and eighty eighty cents per liter. You are more adept at changing liters into American gallons than I am since I'm "old school" and tend to think in Imperial rather than Metric.
The Loonie (a $1.00 coin) is so called because of the impression of the loon (a bird) on one side. The Twoonie is a $2.00 coin and why it is so named is obvious.
At one point, you stated that you had "enough Canadian dollars to get Starbucks". Oh no!! You missed the ultimate experience of a tourist in Canada by not going to Timies (Tim Hortons) to get a "double-double". Shame on you!
Before you arrived at Niagara Falls there was a brief video of you going over the Burlington Skyway, the bridge over the canal that separates Lake Ontario at its extreme west end from Hamilton Harbor. Now I'm really pissed!. I live in Burlington about two miles from that bridge and you didn't drop by my house for a cup of tea.
Since your video did not indicate otherwise, I presume that you took the highway directly to Niagara Falls rather than taking a slightly less direct route. I would have advised you to exit the highway (The Queen Elizabeth Way) immediately after going over the Garden City Skyway (the bridge going over the Welland Canal connecting Lake Ontario to Lake Erie) at St Catharines and taking the firs exit to Niagara-on-the-Lake (one of the most beautiful towns in Ontario) and from there following the Niagara Parkway along the Niagara River to the Falls past the rapids and the whirlpool. A beautiful drive and one not to be missed if the occasion arises.
Anyway, my comments to your two videos about Canada have run a little longer than I expected (scratch that, a lot longer), so please excuse my verbal diarrhea. Just a couple of last comments: we love to have visitors to our country to experience its culture and history and beauty. So if you decide to return, you are more than welcome. I have never been there myself but many friends who have visited Newfoundland have loved it so much that they have decided to move there. Eagerly awaiting your next Canadian video.
I live in New Hampshire, born in Woodstock, NB Canada and grew up in Houlton, Maine. Canadians are serious about keeping their country clean. New Brunswick is an extremely beautiful province. The people are friendly and not mean spirited like here in the United States. They are serious about "hands-free driving." Canada is cold and we have Florida where many of the Canadians like to go. They will leave a $2.00 tip on an $80.00 meal and think that is too much. Hey, Victoria. I love your green eyes. They match that t-shirt you wear.
Ontario provincial parks are nice and a bit cheaper $48 a night.
A loonie is 1 dollar, and a twonie is $2. The gas price is per litre. And if you see the price listed as $1.68 per litre, multiply the price by 3.78 to get the price in gallons. Remember to subtract the $ difference in dollar amounts. $1 CAD = 73 cents US.
