Noted! Did not know it was coming. I have to see what I can do with my budget, but it seems like a really cool device, and not overly expensive at 250/300 euro. Thanks for the suggestion!
@@TheQuantifiedScientist btw, I was in touch with their support regarding the sleep tracking as was wondering how wrist sleep tracking compares to the other ways of doing so, particularly, their "Withings Sleep Analyzer". Today got an answer that Sleep Analyzer should be more accurate as uses more advanced ways of tracking including ballistocardiography (BCG). Given how you reviewed other trackers vs highly accurate device, now I'm suuuper interested in your review of Sleep Analyzer :)
WzR Can’t speak in the same detail as the quantified scientist, but my experience with the withings sleep analyzer has been good and I love that it doesn’t intrude on my sleep or require me to wear anything. Also it has no batteries so nothing to remember to charge = although you do have to plug it in to the wall.
Hi. I am interested in HRV. Thought about Oura Ring, but then came across Elite HRV site. I am using one of their approved devices (Polar H9 strap - a new device that is similar to H10) . Downloaded Elite HRV to my iPhone and take measurements every morning. Have you tried Elite HRV? What is your opinion on that ? They also promote their own, finger measurement-based device. I believe, however, that nothing is more accurate than a chest strap. Thanks
Hi Israel! I actually used Elite HRV to measure the raw RR-intervals for this video, and I used some computer code to analyze that data. I think Elite HRV works fine, it seems to be well developed, though I really only used the raw data. I don't know about the processing of this, but I assume (given the userbase) that enough time has been invested in this. Yes, I also think a chest strap (as long as it is well fitting) should perform best in most cases. I hope this answers your question. Have a wonderful day!
Hi Rob, can you please explain the difference between HRV and arrhythmia. Although I believe in the scientific findings, I find it hard to understand why high variability is good? I thought high variability would be the same as arrhythmia. But apparently not?
Hi Azat, I would need to dig into this a bit deeper to give a comprehensive answer, but I expect it all has to do with the underlying cause of the HRV. Normal HRV "is controlled by a primitive part of the nervous system called the autonomic nervous system (ANS). It works regardless of our desire and regulates, among other things, our heart rate, blood pressure, breathing, and digestion.". (www.health.harvard.edu/blog/heart-rate-variability-new-way-track-well-2017112212789 ). From what I understand arrhythmia is "due to problems with the electrical conduction system of the heart." (wikipedia), and it can also go hand in hand with abnormal heart rhythms (so the way the heart beats) . However, in tracking HRV, it might be that I cannot easily distinguish between the "good" HRV and arrhythmia. Both cause variation in the time between heart-beats, but the underlying cause is different. I am not a doctor or a HRV expert, but this is my best understanding. I would have to take some time to read more about it to give you a better answer. Hope this helps though! Have a great day!
Hello I own a fenix 6x and oura ring Garmin has just updated the software and now connects all variables when it comes to accurately indicating that you are rested enough to train Could you check it out?
I've been using Camera Heart Rate Variability on the iPhone for years. I always look at rmssd. Is that what you're referring to? Now the Apple Watch uses sdnn instead. Is that a similar measurement but a little higher?
Great video! Do you know any wearable (strap with ecg or somethings like that) which can be used to get ECG 24/7 with good resolution (to process raw data for HRV analysis etc) and can work offline for a few days and then sync to phone/cloud over BLE and then export raw ecg data? Right now i'm using polar h10 with Elite HRV, but there is few problems - the hrv app sometimes restarted and loses recordings, and the most thing to worry with polar is permanentl bluetooth signal emmitting near my hearth and that can be dangeroues for health. So i'm looking for offline solution, maybe you know something? Thanks
Hi Max, I have to say I am not sure. There are all sort of devices being developed now to continuously measure ECG signals, but I have no experience with their reliability. For example, with a quick google search I found: www.welchallyn.com/en/products/categories/cardiopulmonary/wearable-ecg-monitors/tagecg-wearable-ecg-sensor.html ; www.vivalnk.com/ecg-monitor ; www.amazon.co.uk/EKG-Heart-Rate-Monitor-Electrocardiograph/dp/B073VW2ZZV . But as I said, no experience with these :-). What is your goal with the measurements? Thanks for commenting!
@@TheQuantifiedScientist Thanks for asnwer! TAGecg sensor looks good, but "A/D Sampling Rate: 250 Hz" are you sure it is enough for good ECG quality? As i'm aware most ppl recommending at least 500Hz with a better choise of 1000Hz. Vivalnk's "ECG: 128 Hz" seems to be not enough too... The one from amazon is 200 Hz. So right now my polar h10 beats them with 1000Hz sample rate, but there is no way to get raw ECG data from sensor, because it not stored... My main goal is to increase lognevity & lifespan. (You can begin with David Sinclair's book if you interested, then deep more into mTOR, AMPK, SIRT, fasting - Valter Lungo, Autophagy induction - Guido Kroemer etc). One of the key thing is to monitor some of self data, check where it goes, what to work on etc. CVD diseases are biggest reason of people dying on our planet, so for now i'm focusing on getting detailed monitoring my heart data, which can analysed, processed and be shared with doctors. Also during collecting some data (i'm collecting food & nutrients, drink, toilet actions, gym excercises, stress, mood - 100+ events per day, and some 3rd party tools like withings sleep/body cardio/go and some blood/urine/ultrasound scans etc) i want to find some correlations and check some ideas (for examples check if some molecules like NMN or Resveratrol have effect on my body). And see how fast my body is aging and where im at with it :) Precious ECG data (for example how hearth reacts to stress) should be a huge indicator for measuring health status, trends, changes in body.
Hi Marius. The Scanwatch does not track HRV as far as I know, or at least not in the same detail. For both sleep and HRV I would choose the Oura Ring, though for sleep tracking Fitbit seems to do better. Have a good one!
Great video. I’ve been wondering why the resting heart rate of my own Oura gen2 always is about 10 lower than the resting heart of my Fitbit Sense watch. Based on your research, it sounds like it’s my Fitbit which is not showing accurate heart rate. Or then it’s just measured somehow differently, I haven’t looked into it in detail.
Hi Dennis! Great idea! I actually wore a Freestyle Libre (the sensor they use) for 6 weeks and also tracked my food-intake in detail. It seems Veri (just) the app that interfaces with the Freestyle Libre, correct? I'll see if I can make a cool video about my blood glucose levels at some point for sure, just have to analyze the data still :-D . Have a great day!
@@TheQuantifiedScientist Sorry for the late reply > It seems Veri (just) the app that interfaces with the Freestyle Libre, correct? Sadly I'm not sure. Very new to this myself. That being said, I stumbled upon Veri because it seems that for some of these sensors you need a prescription from a doctor and for some you don't (and I think you don't for Veri)? Will you be reviewing the whoop??
I plan to do this for sure!
@@TheQuantifiedScientist Awesome cannot wait for that review! Thanks for the response, videos are A+
Thanks !
great video
Glad you enjoyed it
Mine is ALWAYS low 🤷🏽♀️ i feel amazing and i walk often. It is what it is.
My Oura ring doesn’t catch the lowest heart rate compared to my emfit. It seems like the emfit has higher resolution.
Hey how did you figure out the hrv for the polar strap ? Did you use elite hrv or calculated it yourself ?
Curious what app did you use for polar H10 to capture the sleeping HRV ? Thanks
What about during exercise? (Amazing video)
Thank you.
Withings ScanWatch is to be released very soon. Promises to track... well, a LOT. Would be awesome if we could get a full review from you :)
Noted! Did not know it was coming. I have to see what I can do with my budget, but it seems like a really cool device, and not overly expensive at 250/300 euro. Thanks for the suggestion!
@@TheQuantifiedScientist yeah, looking forward those too :-)
@@TheQuantifiedScientist btw, I was in touch with their support regarding the sleep tracking as was wondering how wrist sleep tracking compares to the other ways of doing so, particularly, their "Withings Sleep Analyzer". Today got an answer that Sleep Analyzer should be more accurate as uses more advanced ways of tracking including ballistocardiography (BCG). Given how you reviewed other trackers vs highly accurate device, now I'm suuuper interested in your review of Sleep Analyzer :)
WzR
Can’t speak in the same detail as the quantified scientist, but my experience with the withings sleep analyzer has been good and I love that it doesn’t intrude on my sleep or require me to wear anything. Also it has no batteries so nothing to remember to charge = although you do have to plug it in to the wall.
@@rianholayter oh yeah, got it too, but still wearing the ECG Move as alarm clock and waiting for ScanWatch :)
@@TheQuantifiedScientist Thank you very much! Have a Great Day, Evening, and Life!
What app do you use to track your HRV during night/day with the chest strap?
Amazing 👏
@@TheQuantifiedScientist thanks Rob!
@@azatello You're welcome
Very interested in your views on various apps, especially the ones that can use the phone camera
Hi Iain, thanks for your question! Do you mean apps that track heart-rate using the phone's built-in sensors? Or for tracking other things?
Sorry, realised that was vague. HRV monitoring apps that can use the phone camera to take the reading
Please do one testing the fitbit versa 2 health metrics!!
How good /accurate is the HRV measured by the iWatch 6 ?
Top Beitrag!!!!
Thanks so much!
Hello
I own a fenix 6x and oura ring
Garmin has just updated the software and now connects all variables when it comes to accurately indicating that you are rested enough to train
Could you check it out?
I've been using Camera Heart Rate Variability on the iPhone for years. I always look at rmssd. Is that what you're referring to? Now the Apple Watch uses sdnn instead. Is that a similar measurement but a little higher?
Is the HRV only valid for when you are sleeping? Other people mentioned the HRV on the oura ring is only helpful to know your sleeping HRV
Is it possible to use the ring as a HRV-biofeedback device, such as the Stress Eraser?
Can the Oura ring detect and warn you of a heart attack or heart abnormalities??
So what's your choice for sleep and HRV tracking? scanwatch or oura
Hi Marius. The Scanwatch does not track HRV as far as I know, or at least not in the same detail. For both sleep and HRV I would choose the Oura Ring, though for sleep tracking Fitbit seems to do better. Have a good one!
Also how do you get heart rate variability off the Polar H10? Mine just does rough, low resolution (but accurate) heart rate.
I have the same results on Fitbit. I'd say they don't measure resting heart rate at all.
Can you please do a HRV review on the whoop strap ?
Did you end up doing a blind test between your personal mood diary and readiness score?
Are you compensated by the company?
is there a good device to measure heart rate/variability, and o2 sat?
Very nice tx
Hey! Have you heard of Veri? It's a continuous blood sugar tracker. Would be really interested if you were to make a video about it.
Hi Dennis!
@@TheQuantifiedScientist Sorry for the late reply
> It seems Veri (just) the app that interfaces with the Freestyle Libre, correct?
Sadly I'm not sure. Very new to this myself. That being said, I stumbled upon Veri because it seems that for some of these sensors you need a prescription from a doctor and for some you don't (and I think you don't for Veri)? At least here in the US.
> I'll see if I can make a cool video about my blood glucose levels at some point for sure, just have to analyze the data still
That would be super cool! :)
Thanks again.
Could you review Fitbit versa 2, for sleep?:)
Hi Silje-Sofie, I actually plan to compare a few FitBit models (Fitbit Charge 2, Charge 3, Charge 4 and Fitbit Ionic). I suspect that if all of those turn out to be similar, that you versa 2 will also perform similarly. Stay tuned for that video :-D. Have a great day!
The Quantified Scientist alright, cool! Thanks for replaying😁 Have a great day
