Karen was one of a kind. There will never be another like her. She had such a pure calming voice. And she was a terrific drummer. That was her passion even more than singing. Sadly we lost her so young. Thankfully we have her legacy left in her music. The Carpenters had so many great songs such as "(They Long to Be) Close to You", "We've Only Just Begun", "For All We Know", "Rainy Days & Mondays", "Superstar", "Goodbye To Love", "Top Of The World", "Sing", "Yesterday Once More", "I Won't Last A Day Without You", "Please Mr. Postman", "Only Yesterday", "There's A Kind Of Hush (All Over the World)" & so many more.
An amazing fact is The Carpenters music is still selling today just as if it was new. It competes with The Beatles and Elvis Presley. You can't beat talent like theirs.
If you like Karen Carpenter you need to put a reminder on your calendar when Christmas comes around to do “Merry Christmas Darling”. Awesome love song.
like the warmest hug, the freshest spring breeze, the greatest smell of burning wood, and whose voice felt like she was singing only to you and sitting in your lap...
surely the most pure, intimate, warm, rich, movingly beautiful female voice of love and romance songs ever.... looking for love, finding love and losing love... also the most perfect diction and enunciation of any vocalist male or female i've ever heard..ultimate vocalist who sang TO YOU NOT AT YOU...
I enjoy all of your reaction videos, especially to the Carpenters and BeeGees. But what I truly appreciate is how you always seize any and every opportunity to share your faith in the Lord and His message of love and harmony. Thank you for your testimony and for being a faithful witness and servant of God. I know that He has will continue to bless you accordingly.
Hurting eachother feels so relevent today. Thank you Karen for bringing us your unique voice even if only for a short while. For whatever reason god called her back, but I hope that she found peace after
I grew up on The Carpenters and so much of my life was made better because of them. I had a rocky childhood and was very rebellious in my teen years. I had a horse named "Laddie" and I would go out to the barn and when I was down, I would brush her and listen to the Carpenters on my Boombox. If I really needed to be lifted up, I would play "Top of the World" by them and it would help me out a lot. Thanks for reacting to them. God bless.
Devin, love the reaction and the message. I always taught my children and grandchildren that God IS love and while we think of love as an emotion, a warm fuzzy FEELING (a noun), God sees it differently. To Him, love is not a noun, but a verb. God is love in ACTION. He SENT Jesus down. He proved His love. He GAVE us salvation. These are action verbs expressed as love, not a noun, or fuzzy feeling. Had God stood in heaven and said to us below, "Hey, I love you. Hope all goes well. Bye now," and left us to ourselves, where would we be? Because He views love as a verb, we have salvation and we should understand love that way towards our fellow human beings. God bless.
@@DevinReacts just to let you know, karen and richard carpenter, did ALL of the background vocals and harmonies for all of their songs, using a dubbing method. those in the background playing instruments were part of their in concert LIVE band and only then did they help a bit with the background.....
Linda Ronstadt is another amazing female vocalist of the 70s who is frequently ranked alongside Karen as one of the top tier female vocalists. Her voice differs from Karen’s in that she has a powerful voice that belts out songs very strong, but her voice still has that same special warm, rich quality as Karen’s.
Hey Devin! Another wonderful song from this dynamic duo, I love listening to songs from them because not only the uniqueness of Karen's voice, the songs are meaningful and soothing. Richard's vocals just added the icing on the cake 😊. A couple of classics that came out in 1971 were "For all we know " and Rainy Days and Mondays you might want to give a listen to! You most certainly will ❤ these.
That song has always ripped my guts out. She goes right into my soul. I'm a guy, I can admit it. She was ridiculous. I really hope I get to see her in Heaven one day and she is still singing.
You are very positive and wonderful faith. I think Carpenters had faith. I was very young when my sister started listening to them and I think they were on TV back then. Loved their music 🎵🎶❤️🥰
Absolutely wonderful music...she was a treasure. Such a shame she is gone.....I was alive when all the hits happened in the 70s. She was the best and Richard's talents enhanced her voice.
If you didn’t know, Karen did not begin as a singer. Her joy and passion was the drums, and she could tear it up! Her older bro, Richard, was the lifelong musician, always having been involved in piano and composition of some sort. In their late teens he put together a jazz trio, in which Karen was the drummer. As he pitched the trio to the labels and producers around LA, nobody was really interested in an instrumental jazz trio at that time. So, in comes Karen with her vocals and that voice just…comes out. Can you imagine? She was not thrilled to be thrust into the spotlight and taken out from hiding behind the comfort of the drums. Bless her. As we can see, she was eventually pushed out there and learned to be the front performer. But wow.
You got that right, nobody can equal her voice and range, still. Adele can go low like Karen, but not as high, Barbara, Celine and Whitney can't go as low as Karen. Karen even stated the $$ was in the basement.
Karen had that all american girl next door quality to her! She had that child like innocence to her like judy garland, their voices grab at your heart strings, but karen had another layer to her voice, it's like she was cuddled up in your lap and sing softly and angelically into your ear, just for you personal and private! And oh, that deep alto side of her voice, for a woman, was a rare instrument, but it didn't make her come across as masculine, just sweet and lady like and effortless! What a wonderful legacy she left behind for future generations to enjoy! Although I prefer woman singers in all genras, the opera voices, high pitched, rock voices, karen is always the one I come back to everytime! She's like comfort food for the soul! Just about the most natural, organic voice to ever grace the record industry!
You should watch "The Karen Carpenter story" movie. It will give you some insight about what she was dealing with in her life. For such a Beautiful Talented person, she really struggled A LOT. It's so sad that we lost her so young. RIP Karen.
Got to give you another song title from The Carpenters for a couple reasons number one it's one of the saddest songs that Karen ever sang number two it's the first time ever in the history of the Carpenters that they added an electric guitar for this song and the name of the song is goodbye to love.
Karen couldn't believe that she had an amazing voice. I believe Paul McCartney saw her & told her that she an amazing voice. She thought he was making fun of her.
Ps, it's just too bad that sometimes in life that being born with a natural gift came be alot of pressures and struggles to live up to! She had a heavy burden to carry having to front a band! Pleasing her parents, brother, her record label and band members! To many people depending in one person! Although richard was the major part of the duo, with out karen, there was no carpenters, but what a duo they made! One of the combinations in history! Like chocolate and vanilla, what a compliment to eachother!
She is amazing. You need to hear Olivia Newton John. She has a beautiful pure voice too. I Honestly Love You. Or the song the Bee Gees wrote for her. Come On Over.
you need to react to her last recording NOW she did this in one takr. your journey listening to them has only just begun. react to any of their songs including their album tracks
only thing wrong with this song....its too damn short, i started listening to them when i was 12yrs old the 69/73 greatest hits album this song and "i won't last a day without you ....were two of my favourites... i am closing in on 60...and still not heard anyone close to the perfection of the carpenters sound
LOL. I bet Putin would be over the moon about you comparing him to Hitler. Anyhow, I do agree with you on Karen Carpenter being the greatest female singer ever. Cheers!
So sad to lose Karen so young. Her and her brother were awesome. She developed anorexia after they wrote about her being chubby. Would you please react to a very special song that has a message so many need to hear. The Living Years by Mike and The Mechanics.
Yeah remember God created man in His image. And God is pure spirit and unconditional love and when he created each and every one of our souls or spirits he created it of himself so God is our creator and a part of us as well and therefore we should love God and love one another because we are all part of God and part of each other. I'm not real religious matter of fact I very rarely ever duck into a church for any reason anymore was forced to as a child but I learned that religion didn't work for me I got my spirit and my healing and my knowledge of God by taking long walks in nature and communing with God and when I was much younger when I did that I could talk to God in my mind and his answer would come back into my mind and we just communed as one spirit with another and when I seen how powerful that was I knew that church wasn't for me not that there's anything wrong with church it works for a lot of people and like I said I have been in church a few times for special occasions but it just wasn't something that worked for me.
Karen was one of a kind. There will never be another like her. She had such a pure calming voice. And she was a terrific drummer. That was her passion even more than singing. Don't forget my boys 😅🎸☮️💕
I just bought a Carpenters CD today!
Karen Carpenter's voice is perfection...perfect pitch. She could sing the phone book & it would be beautiful.
You're right, BEST female vocalist EVER. Absolutely BEAUTIFUL!💝
She is probably giving the Angel's singing lessons, thats why she was wanted in heaven
I 100% agree that she is the best female vocalist of all time. There will never be another voice as good as hers.
I'm not sure if you noticed my last name changed from Hodges to Lease. I got married.
If you like Karen Carpenter you need to put a reminder on your calendar when Christmas comes around to do “Merry Christmas Darling”. Awesome love song.
The voice of an Angel. Silenced way too soon. R.I.P. Karen Carpenter. 💖
Her voice has been described as being like warm chocolate. I had forgotten about this song. Thanks for bringing it back to me.
like the warmest hug, the freshest spring breeze, the greatest smell of burning wood, and whose voice felt like she was singing only to you and sitting in your lap...
Her voice is liquid gold.
One of my favorite Carpenters songs.
A true angelic voice. She had pitch-perfect vocals. This was way before auto tune so what you are hearing is her singing.
She sang to us when I was in High School, still love their music.
Karen Carpenter will be remembered forever! Nobody will forget her heavenly voice!
One of my faves by them...Karen's voice is by far the best!!!!! RIP Karen....you are missed.

Yes love Carpenters ,Please do FOR ALL WE KNOW and SING A SONG LIVE !

Yeh! You gave the song justice. You felt it.

Devin, I love the little talks you give after a song. I have so much to say to you, the the main thing is GOD BLESS YOU. kEEP ON KEEPING ON!
You want a heartbreaking Carpenter's song, Now.. it was her last recording
Absolutely wonderful music...she was a treasure. Such a shame she is gone.....I was alive when all the hits happened in the 70s. She was the best and Richard's talents enhanced her voice.
Amen brother. Doesn't it make sense a CREATOR is responsible for CREATION?!
Devin, please check out her drum solo!!

Amen brother 🙏 God Bless you and your family 👪
Another angelic voice goes to Joni Mitchell 🎸☮️💕
Dude! Your reaction is so genuine and appreciative. I appreciate you!
Karens the GOAT. Her voice is unreal! ❤❤❤
Karen Carpenter sang a duo with my neighbor Perry Como from Canonsburg Pa and Karen could sing a mountain of phone books and never miss a tune!
Thank you for your testimony!
The next song you should do, IMO, is Top of the World. Then Rainy Days and Mondays, Only Yesterday and Yesterday Once More.
Another great reaction! Yes , I also feel that Karen was the best female vocalist of all time.
Please react "Carpenters Only Yesterday" Karen voice is amazing 🤭
Love it!
Love them 💕
Smooth as silk❤
love God and love your neighbor...'nuff said.
Her look in this video just kills me.

When I saw them in 1971 Karen was playing drums throughout this and every other song.
The legendary Hal Blaine on drums. Like no other. See his song list. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_song_recordings_featuring_Hal_Blaine

Please listen to "When It's Gone, It's Just Gone" by The Carpenters. The video is on UA-cam.
Karen was saved 👍❤️🙏
This video cuts the ending off too soon. Not Devin's fault. But if you listen to other versions, it goes on longer.
Carpenters/Desperado
My top 3 are Karen, Linda and Patsy.
70s....she died in 83 amigo
There is no other female vocalist today that even comes close to sounding as good as Karen Carpenter. Even with the help of computerized auto-tune.
in my opinion (only) Karen Carpenter, Miss Patsy Cline & LeeAnn Rymes are my favorite female vocalists
Linda Ronstadt is amazing too
Celine Dion and Barbra Streisand are my heavy hitters 💕

Richard and Karen were and are Christians. She once said she wanted Jesus Christ to guide her through her time in her music career.
You're fav bands? You've done very few songs!
I do not come to your channel for a freaking sermon.
Seethe. Cope.
Love you but too much religion. Little bit ok
Seethe. Cope.
The best reaction channel. Devin is smart and honest
