She could convey so much emotion, and such yearning with that voice of hers. Oh to think of what could have been. She still looked good in this video. Some of her last ones.... you can really see the anorexia take it's toll. Never seemed to affect her voice though. Saddest thing is, she was working on recovery and rehab from the anorexia but the damage was already done and that big, beautiful heart of hers just couldn't take it.

One of the PUREST female singing voices 🎤🎶😌💕 My number 1 favorite female singer of all time (in my 60 years of listening 👂 to music) FRANK SINATRA once said that Karen Carpenter was the only singer he would pay money to hear sing.

I recently heard that when she recorded a song she did almost every one in only one take. They called her “one take Karen”. What a truly remarkable voice that was gone way too soon.

Hi dear Frank. Karen sung many marvelous song with her unique voice (in my opinion, her voice is the best sound that our God gave us until now), and for that reason i could advise you many and many titles. But if you want to understand even better how special was her magic, please listen (and enjoy!) her version of Dont' Cry For Me Argentina. It is an endless emotion.

You are correct with the overdubbing. They are the first to make it known to bring this to main stream music, and made it commonly used in music. Richard got the idea for Overdubbing when he was about 6 yrs old, while listening to Les Paul & Mary Ford. Here are 3 videos where this is explained. The first is from one of their concerts in the 1970's, wear Richard explains it, using the woo woo woa part of "Do you know the way to San Jose", and Karen and the other band members singing it. The Carpenters - Richard explains overdubbing- ua-cam.com/video/c5eFEgfRlig/v-deo.html The second is from a BBC radio documentary about the life of Karen Carpenter called KAREN CARPENTER DOCUMENTARY. it is a long interview about her life. But at 18:00 they discuss Karen's upbringing with music, and who they listened to. Richard then discusses their love of Les Paul & Mary Ford, and overdubbing. KAREN CARPENTER DOCUMENTARY- ua-cam.com/video/0Nf5NQcKxcg/v-deo.html And the last video is from April 2019, when a Carpenters Historian discussed this concept, using We've Only Just Begun with a 16 track. He has 1 track of their voices, then double track, and then triple track, and final sound. Explaining the Carpenters' vocal "sound" [We've Only Just Begun]- ua-cam.com/video/RS6pIkIImsM/v-deo.html

She had one of the best voices ever. Why did she die so young. Didn't anyone care about her. How about a super intervention. What were her parents and brother doing. On her last concerts she was skin and bones. She belonged in a hospital. She was only 32 when she passed. So sad she had a certain sadness in her beautiful voice. Loved her she was great

I loved this song, too, the first time I heard it. It has all the ingredients you speak of. It was written in 1965, recorded by the Carpenters in 1971, and was on their 1972 album A SONG FOR YOU. It was one of their five U.S. #2's. Most of their singles were about 3 minutes, rather short, but had to be like that to get serious radio airplay at the time. I recommend "Desperado" from their 1975 album HORIZON.

Frank! You should analyze GOODBYE TO LOVE by The Carpenters. It is interesting as it was one of the first power ballads, that is, a ballad that has an electric guitar solo as part of the song. In its time it was super revolutionary and the guitarist is none other that Tony Peluso, who later became a great music producer.

If you haven't already, check out this video from a live performance of Karen singing "Say Goodbye to Love." ua-cam.com/video/nooeMrCws-A/v-deo.html Despite the beautiful melody and arrangement, this is one of the saddest songs I've ever heard. What makes this video even sadder for us older people who grew up watching The Carpenters, Karen's weight loss is quite noticeable. To compare, watch her sing "Top of The World" in a live performance some years prior, and you can see she looks terrific. ua-cam.com/video/baSUO3zjneA/v-deo.html

Hey, man, since you're on a Carpenters' run, I suggest you take a look at _Aurora_ and/or _Eventide._ These are two versions of the same short song, with different lyrics, one being the first and the other the last one in an album they released (called "Horizon"). To my taste, calling it beautiful is a serious understatement. I would be interested in your take on it/them.
