    Well done Greg. As a huge Rush fan and drummer I enjoy your content. I grew up with Rush in the 70's. Fortunate to see them three times. Moving Pictures stirs so many memories.

    Great album! One of my favorites! Oh also, I think you meant to say & write "Morse Code", not "Mores Code"?

      Thanks! And - sorry for the typo in the graphic! Clearly, it is Morse, as in Samuel Morse, one of the early developers of the system adopted for electrical telegraphy.

    Thanks so much Greg for the very interesting and fascinating review of "Moving Pictures," and all of the additional information about Rush (great pictures, too)!!! I couldn't agree more that the first side of the album is one of prog rock's perfect sides, and for me, one of the greatest sides I've heard on a rock music album, period. As you mentioned, it would be nearly impossible to find a band with the musical chops to match what Alex, Geddy, and especially, Neil brought to the table. I thorougly enjoy your Guilty Treasures episodes....keep them coming! :)

    Perhaps somewhat embarrassingly so.. This gives me some stuff to explore.. So thanks for the intro and encouragement once more to expand my musical enjoyment horizons. 👍🏻

      Hey Marcus... Thanks. While I get that not everyone will dig everything I choose to feature in this manner, this record is an exceptional example of the genre. As I mention in today’s description section, “It is listed as No. 3 on Rolling Stone Magazine’s “50 Greatest Prog Rock Albums of All Time” list, behind No. 2, King Crimson’s “In the Court of the Crimson King,” and No. 1, Pink Floyd’s “The Dark Side of the Moon!” www.rollingstone.com/music/music-lists/50-greatest-prog-rock-albums-of-all-time-78793/ If you do dig in, I'd love to get your take! Thanks, my friend.

      @@theaudioanalystafter only a couple of tracks I started to realise I knew more than I had thought, moreso on my radar than a closet fan so to speak.
      👍🏻

      @@marcus1970Thanks for the update, Marcus. I'm happy to hear your report. As I said, I know that not everyone will necessarily have the same appreciation for the titles I feature in this series, but I assure you that they are all worthy of your attentions.

    Excellent review on this iconic album ❤ it! I would love to hear your review on Alan Parsons “I Robot”

      Hello, Henry. What interesting timing. Last night, a good friend of mine (the same cat who bought my 1999 Simply Vinyl 180g Reissue - SVLP 076 - mentioned in that SoundStage! article) and I were comparing the best-sounding copies of “I Robot” remaining in my collection, as all of those remaining copies are sonically superior to the 1977 US first pressing (Arista - AL 7002).
      Those copies include my Promo copy of the 1982 Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab Original Master Recording Series (MFSL 1-084), my 1983 Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab UHQR Vinyl Series (MFQR 1-084), my 2016 Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab 2 X 45RPM 180g Gain 2™ Ultra Analog Original Master Recording Series (MFSL 2-455), and the most recent 2022 Original Master Recording, UltraDisc One-Step 180g SuperVinyl (UD1S 1-041). We even threw in my 2000 Classic Records DAD 24/96 DVD Series - DAD 1035.
      You may see my original comparison of the four copies I had in the fall of 1999 in my SoundStage! Synergizing column, “Vertical Testing - The Value of Comparing Multiple Versions of the Same Recording” at this link: www.soundstagenetwork.com/synergize/synergize081999.htm

    I knew YYZ was the airport code, but I never knew it was in Morse code. How cool is that?

    • @theaudioanalyst
      @theaudioanalyst  5 місяців тому

      Hey, Todd. Right? Once I learned that, and looked at the actual representation for each letter, I heard it instantly the next time I played the track. So very cool!

    For discs, check out the Japan SHM-CD release (2009 or 2022). I have the MoFi and others, the SHM are even better!
