Eric is the real f’in deal. Amazing sense of phrasing mixed with the upside approach makes him the most unique blues player out there today IMO.

Josh Smith the accomplished technician, never hitting a wrong note, Gales the crazy wild force, hitting a few misses, but then also the one happening on pure genius regularly

Josh is out of S. Florida. We started watching him when he was amazing at about 15 and playing lots of Stevie Ray and Jimi which is what everyone wanted. He had long wavy blonde hair and a Stevie Ray hat. When he graduated high school he leaned more toward the rock trio and started writing and touring.

It's rare to see two players that can pick up the others phrase and complete it and you can't tell where one left off and the other began.
PaulinTaegu --Greg Koch is another superb player who jams with both of these two guys at the NAMM shows. And they have a hard time keeping up with him and his odd phrasing of notes.

Eric Gales knowledge of that fretboard and his CHORD work. . . in addition to his incredible soloing ability....is simply amazing!!. Not to take anything away from Josh Smith. Josh on the otherhand has incredible control and tone. Decent voice too. This was one of the best slow blues jam on YT..fer sure~!

4o yrs playing Blues and I NEVER heard of Eric Gales until about two months ago..so many out there but I'm so glad I did..what a player ! Another upside down Albert King type of player ! I also like "You ain't the boss of me" which, is the song he was playing when I first heard him on Sirius.

This video was my introduction to Josh Smith a few years ago. I knew about Eric at that point but not Josh. I remember thinking to myself, "who does this cowboy think he is?". Lmao!! Just a few seconds into the tradeoff portion and... well you know what happened.
Both of these gentlemen are two of the best.

You will probably never see Joe sit down to play with Eric because Joe fears getting his shit clean blown away. Josh, on the other hand, is real secure in his playing and can hang with anyone.
Eric and Joe are old friends, so I don´t see why he´d be afraid to play with him. Besides, Joe is a monster player just like Josh and Eric.
That is true...Cause Eric is a much better musician than Joe...But then again...as far as blues players in that vein... Eric is head and shoulders above everybody--- Him and Derek Trucks are the best players of that generation...Joe B is a great guitar player, but I don't feel his vibe---he sounds like a guy at a sunday night blues jam with extraordinary facility...

These 2 compliment each other very well .....both are huge players. Eric can be a little more free and raw than Josh .....but when they get into the slow clean intricate stuff they are actually pretty similar. They obviously had a ball here 🔥
