Of all the instructors on UA-cam you make the most sense when it comes to the golf swing. A very easy concept and quite natural. I enjoy watching your videos keep them coming😊
Really insightful tutorials. I’ve spent so much time trying to replace my arm speed with hip rotation. I have no power any more. Looking forward to tweaking my swing back to my arm speed. So logical when you explain it. Hopefully it’s not too late to retrain myself
It’s definitely NOT too late! I’m working in-person with golfers on a weekly basis to switch their ‘concepts’ and for many it’s been a transformational experience!! Get after it and welcome aboard! Best, Coach A. ⛳️🏌️♂️🙏🏻
First time on the channel and a consumer of golf videos. I like it how this coach, explains the process but then hits balls! This coach is a player! He knows the feels bc he plays.🤜
Thank you! My competitive playing days are long behind me but I still like to walk the walk and play to a +1 which essentially is a 73/74 average score. Not great but not bad either for a guy that only plays once a week. It helps keep me honest knowing how challenging the game is for me personally. That’s why it’s so important to keep it simple in my opinion - And, importantly to find what works best for you!! I’m glad you’re enjoying the channel. Welcome aboard sir! Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
Another great video! Thanks for continuing explaining that the golf swing isn’t a complicated endeavor. Today I believe I finally understand what it means to for one to create space for the golf club. I now know how my propensity to “spin my body towards power” was the cause my high effort exhausting, over the top, chicken wing swing as my brain had to implement a “plan B” in order to even get the club head to the ball. My body out racing my arms destroyed the space necessary for my arms to swing the club freely. Love how you demonstrate how the butt of the club changing directions quickly near our belt buckle is the key to how to use our clubs as designed. Thanks again for helping people like me have some lightbulb moments of why our swings never felt natural
Hi Andrew, I came across you about 5 weeks ago done a weeks L to L drill and not spinning last 3 rounds 80/81/80 you give easy-to-understand explanations so pleased to have come across you.
Gordon, Wow!!! That’s so awesome to hear. Keep it simple and swing YOUR swing not THE swing. That’s the secret no body talks about, so many ways to play the game - lock in what works best for you!! Welcome aboard! Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
Fantastic Andrew, you’re now the only online teacher I watch. Your video’s have really helped this senior find a good common sense swing without all the back pain. Are you in Charleston, SC? I’m here in Shelby, NC just west of Charlotte.
Yes sir, about 18 miles west of downtown Charleston. You should come down for an Immersion, I think it could be transformative for you! Best, A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
Andrew: Thanks for this video. I took it to the range today and had better contact/low point and couldn't tell much -- if any -- difference in distance between my regular swing and this. In addition, and this was surprising, keeping the back heel down longer also made it easier to keep my back to the target longer -- something I wanted but was having a bit of trouble with. Again, great drill -- Tom
Tom, a very salient point! Thank you for sharing this with your fellow subscribers. The whole point of this ‘awkward’ and uncomfortable drill is that it prevents the trail hip and knee from driving out towards the ball in transition. Essentially it’s the trail hip that needs to remain in its depth in order for the back to remain facing the target. Appreciate the feedback as always Best, A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
I'll give this a try. It my help with me hitting close to the hosel and shanking . To bad the season is winding down for me here and the cold weather is starting to come in.
It feels weird for me to swing like that, but definitely an indicator that I’m throwing way too much body into it. I do make solid contact. Andrew your teaching of the swing makes a lot of sense to me, glad I found your channel. I’m sure in time I will get this ingrained and feel more comfortable. Thanks.
As you know it’s about doing what IS right, not what FEELS right!! Such a dilemma we all face when trying to write a new program for that circuit board between our ears!! I’ve been there many times as a student. Be patient and get after it! Best, Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
Yes, my number one thing is not keeping the back to the target long enough. When I do, good things happen, more snap at contact, more natural closing of the club face and YES! -- a baby draw. Working to ingrain that is just a matter of practice the right practice -- this drill will be my next range effort. Thank You!
So for this drill the main focus is not allowing that right foot to come off the ground at all? Until obviously we want to do a full finish follow through. I feel like this is what I need, gonna try it today at the range. The feet together drill + hitchhiker has been absolute 💰 to go back to when bad habits creep in again. But one habit of mine is exactly this where my hip fires just a little bit too fast which seems to create some horrendous looking things even though the shot looks good
The Anchor Drill is challenging at first but it helps stabilize the pelvis keeping the hips in their depth! You should allow your pressure to work towards your lead heel at impact! For those with EE it’s a tremendous help! Best, Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
Very nice explanation Andrew , your thoughts are very similar to Mike Malaska with the arms and quite body, most of these other instructors don't know what harm they can cause telling a 60 year old to turn their body faster than their arms.
I don’t know many coaches in the UK but I do know that Carl Watts and Warren Bennett are not only excellent coaches but great guys too! I also think that Richard Sadler is fantastic in Somerset!! They were all phenomenal players too with tour experience. They’ve walked the walk!! Best, Coach A. ⛳️🏌️♂️🙏🏻 P.S Distance is not an issue for online coaching! I coach golfers from as far as New Zealand, Dubai, Bahrain, Japan and all over Europe too - that’s also an option.
Club face is key to avoid a flip! If it’s wide open you have to flip to get the toe caught up. Sending your lead wrist naturally into extension from a flexed position is often confused with flipping. It is not! A flip is when the club head passes the hands prior to the point of collision. Get your arms moving forward and off your chest and then send your speed home as you re hinge. I hope that helps. Best, A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻⬇️ ua-cam.com/video/WnIrOyYExxo/v-deo.htmlsi=Q0AAlH6j87FJTMI_
Will more of a hands swing help with coming over the top I’ve feared the left side of the golf course for many years now tried so many ways but none seem to work long term
Jon, if it’s path that’s causing your left miss then you have to creat some depth at the top and keep your back to the target a lot longer as you change direction! Your arms follow the path of your shoulders……. Best, Coach A. ⛳️🏌️♂️🙏🏻
It seems like it will be very hard to time the transitioning of the clubhead as it approaches the golf ball. I’ll try it tomorrow but I’m doubtful of my success in doing it. We will see
Paul, find a drill that works for ‘you!’ This drill helps golfers who drive their pelvis and early extend. Plenty of other drills on my channel. Best, A. 🏌️♂️🏌️♂️🙏🏻
By keeping the back foot down at impact it causes the hips to stop rotating like putting the brakes on and allows the arms to spend up. Ala Moe Norman.
Yes, absolutely! It will help keep you behind the golf ball. Most golfers are driving their center of mass and pelvis out in front of their arms with the driver. This drill helps stabilize the pelvis keeping the hips more in their depth. Best, A.. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
