I commented on another video to a similar idea. If you want to see 50k affordable boats, go to your marina or a local dealer and have a look. This is something we all can access. However we can not access all the expensive high end superyachts like Nick, so it's good to use time for those. Also from a YT perspective, he prolly gets much more views from superyachts than old second-hand bangers.
This boat is perfect. With a lot of other "cheaper" boats you usually can't close off the interior with a proper door for colder conditions. You will usually have to compromise between a gt style boat with a closing door, but without the fly-bridge or a fly-bridge one you can only close with canapes. This one has got it all though!
Just get a mortgage for decent house, sell the house for cash only to some investor who doesn't mind doing shady business, buy the boat, sail away to freedom.
Smaller boats are what's really pumping up the boating market. Even Nordhavn acknowledged this and, thus, the wonderful, new, N41. A live-in boat from 30 to 40 feet - like the ones from the very successful Beneteau trawler series... - will suit the vast majority of boating enthusiasts' needs. Wonderful review, as per.
I agree but still think its nice to mix it up every so often. Its like the cheap boat is the girl next door, and super yacht is the girl off the tele. Its much easier to fantasies about the girl next door :P
That has been very well maintained. The decor may date it a bit, but it looks nearly new in some areas. “One careful lady owner” springs to mind. And it’s a real steal at that price. More like this please Nick 😀
The change in style in the 13 years since this boat was made to now really makes me wonder what boats we'll be watching in 2033 with Nick will be like and if we'll look back on 2020's boats and say stuff like 'nice boat but it's a bit dated"! 😂
Much depends on when the model was released and I am not sure about this one. When you compare to the Fairline Squadron 42 and there are a few 2012 models on the market which is only 5 years newer than this, they seem so much more contemporary in design, yet they are still 8 years old. Admittedly they are about 50% more expensive than this so a big price to pay for slightly more modern styling.
Hi Nick, I'd like to second an earlier comment about how a side series teaching us how to sail would be amazing. You have the calming tone of a driving instructor. As a secondary note, as a Dorset guy living in Australia, I'd give my left leg to have one of your landlubber tours of Weymouth. Just for old time's sake! Keep up the great work!
Great review, I had a Phantom 40 prior to my Phantom 48 that is currently lying in Portland waiting for Lock Down in UK marinas to end A couple of points, firstly, the cruising range is around 200 miles at 23 to 27 knots, you would get 300 miles if you were chugging along at six to eight knots. The Volvo 370’s do not have enough low end torque for close quarter work, so you do have to rev beyond ‘in gear’, which can make the boat a little tetchy when berthing. A great 40 foot cruise, the two bathrooms are very well kitted out and I had lots of times when another couple stayed with us, and if it was just me and my partner, then it was complete luxury. These boats were built when Fairline were on top of their game,
It has exactly everything I've seen on multi-million dollar boats but it's just all crammed closer together. I wish that this philosophy would be applied to houses. There's no reason that your average small house can't be a tiny mansion.
Totally agree with you: every yacht I've seen above 40-50 foot is just a bling-bling and things on those mostly do not make much sense anymore. What I really miss on smaller boats is the possibility to put in a washer/dryer.
Quite a nice layout, would make a nice live aboard, or a lovely weekender. Being able to properly close off the saloon is fantastic for higher latitudes. Another great Aquaholic tour!
Might be a dumb idea, but could you maybe do a video of what it takes to owner operate one of these? Like how do marina's work? licensing, maintenance etc. Anyway love the videos :D
I bought my first boat, a 1987 searay 340 for $30,000. Usually stays in the water. The guy showed me how everything works. The marina charges for the space and electric and trailer storage if you have the trailer too. Monthly space was about $600 and insurance was about $150 a month. Mantainance is sewage disposal unless you use the marinas, heat and ac units, engines and generator like cars more or less and hull in water paint/seal coatings and cleanings every couple years or so. Fuel on a 30' to 40' boat might be about 5 miles per gallon. Maybe all in about $1,000 a month in arizona lake. Better than apartment or home cost.
I know you traditionally look at motor yachts, but if you come across any sailing catamarans, I'd love to see your take on them. Real offshore, and ocean crossers are generally much more interesting than inshore day boats.
The beard looks great on you mate. Love your videos. I have no interest in boats. I don't think I've ever even been on a yacht. I will never own one. But the style and delivery of your tours are kinda calming and and I just find myself watching and really enjoying your videos. Thanks for the content
Great video Nick, you do like to cram yourself into all the nooks and crannies, a real hands on tour, I'm glad other boating channels have not copied your style, well they couldn't your unique, lovely boat too, I particularly liked the galley nice and compact with all the bits and bobs you need.
Thanks for the tour, a very useable boat, clever layout with excellent use of space. A surprising amount of outdoor space for a smallish boat. Excellent accommodation and cavernous storage, space for a fair few bottles of tomato ketchup and tins of beans. All in all, alot of boat for a seemingly reasonable price. Loved the cameo from white bag, relaxing in the cockpit. 🤣😂🤣 Take care of yourself and stay safe. 👍👍👍🚢🛥⚓⛴🛳☠🚤⛵😎
Quite a nice boat. Woogwork, lacker still looking very well. An attractive opportunity. And in the south of the UK we can see on the Aquaholic morning walk vids that boating is very nice in these waters.
This boat just screams Sunday afternoon at anchor with the sun shining down on the aqua-blue water lapping against the hull. While you are sprawled on the sofa watching an F1 race at Monaco - perfect
Nick that’s a lovely example of an affordable boat. You could live on that if you wanted to. Good use of space, nice design and decor. Opening the door through to the cockpit gives a really lovely living area. These super yachts are lovely to look at, but you just ride on them. You don’t really get the boating experience. This is far more like it
Nick, "Great minds think alike" Just when I thought "I wonder how much headroom there is" you turned the camera around and showed us. Then, in the engine room, I saw the multiple "No Step" signs, I thought , "What did he just step on to get down there ?" You then flipped out the temporary metal step. Lastly, I could see the gas struts in the back of the engine room and sure enough, a moment later you said "See those gas struts back there ? etc...." you're like a mind reader Nick..Z
CLEAN. Not the kind of quick, send a crew in with scrubbers and towels for a good pre sale once over. This clean is after THIRTEEN YEARS OF USE and it is still very tidy kind of clean. The owner(s) of this vessel loved it. It wasn't this sorted when first delivered. Whoever buys this boat is in for years more fun - a gift from the owners...
Another well done boat tour, Nick! Kudos for pointing out the left/right engine arrangement. Many boat manufacturers don't bother with symmetrical systems like that.
Very interesting especially as I've recently purchased my first boat, a 2001 Princess 50, before I'd even acquired my skipper's licence. Good job I passed and now loving it. Your videos have been so informative not to mention fun and interesting. Keep it up.
I really like this boat, great use of every bit of space and the galley location seems odd at first but it works. Its hard to say that its affordable but its one of the few thats within financial reach for most
This is absolutely lovely! For the price, that seems to me as a novice a lot of boat! And, with not a lot of work, the interior could be made to look a lot more modern and bring it right up to date! Really great find!
Another top review, and on a boat that was my “dream boat” in my early to mid teens. There was one in my local marina. Though, so far, my merry fisher 805 will have to do!! Maybe one day: although the dream has moved onto nordhavn, specifically the new n41 or 43!
You have to love fairline, fabulous boats with great thought put into design layout. I had a vixen many years ago and have loved the brand ever since! Thanks for another great video Nick 👍
This seems like remarkably good value for a short range weekend boat. And my dirty secret is that I prefer the more relaxed, comfortable interior than the overly blinged newer boats.
There's something so cool about this late 90s style of interior... you can tell it was as high end back then as modern top end stuff is today. I love those revolving shower doors. What happened to those? Every yacht used to have them. PS: I've been perving over the Predator 108, Le Chiffre's yacht in Casino Royale. It too has that "charmingly dated" look now. Three Arneson surface drives and 45 knots! Would be amazing to have a tour of one of those one day. The late 90s Predator 80 too. That was basically the world's fanciest powerboat at the time.
Pred 108 is definitely on the hit list if the opportunity ever presents! I think it was decided that circular shower stalls weren't the most space efficient, hence seen less of these days.
Very good review as always, thank you. Would be useful if you occasionally included typical mooring costs for the boat size under review at the location.
What a cracking boat for the money & somehow better layout than some of its bigger brothers. Brilliant review as always & a real find. Ticks all the boxes!!
Thank you. The protective back cover is nice to have. The yacht looks nice. This size is good and the cabin area is nice. The step down to kitchen is nice. I like that little area to cook some lunch or dinner on this size of a yacht is good. Again thank you for showing this yacht.
Hey you forgot the crew cabin that's it I'm unsubscribing. LOL id never in a million years unsubscribe from Aquaholic. Just so glad there's new aquaholic videos always love them. I stop anything and everything im doing when i get that notification of a new video. Cheers
I really like this, it feels like a homely, manageable little boat, and aside from the small windows below decks it's really not that badly dated. As you say a great floating holiday home. The galley in particular seems quite generous for the size. I do wonder how reliable it'll be after 13 years in the water, though!
I personally quite enjoy these some what more affordable yachts. I would like to see a Azimut 50 flybrige, you can buy those yachts for around £300.000 . Or a Arno Leopard 23. I also quite like the Sunseeker Predator line.
Genuinely love this boat, great layout and as usual I’m a fan of the hi gloss woodwork! Very realistic opportunity to get into boating there ! Hope all is well Nick
This is the kind of boat I like, (similar to that princess F45). Its just big enough to do everything you want it to, and have "mini yacht feeling" boat, but it's small enough to manage and take care of yourself, and at $200K, its a realistic life goal on my salaries that I could own some day.
This is one of the nicer flybridge-boats I've seen in this size-range. It does have the typical class-weakness that the view out for the passengers is somewhat restricted when underway and not using the flybridge, but it's difficult to keep the helm and saloon at the same level without totally compromising the secound (or even the master) cabin.
Nick...you are such an amazing presenter. I LOVE that you show all these little details, but I love it so much because you do it because your viewers asked about those things. Thank you for being so concerned and in depth. I know you have somewhat of an affinity for cars as well...and my favorite car reviewer and you are VERY similar. If you haven't heard of Doug Demuro, you should check out a video or two of his to see what I mean. Keep it up, I'm always happy to see a video from you.
Very nice boat. It contains everything you need. Also, if you perhaps are interested in video ideas, i would recommend to do a ocean Alexander 90r tour. I love that boat
Hi Nick, Yet another professional video....I did note, that your little bag was viewed not only once but twice...was this done for my benefit.....lol. Keep up the great work you do, I love your videos matey. Regards again from Aust..
Wonder what it would cost to take a solid, 13 year old boat like this, for 200K, with good bones, and make it 100% live-aboard, with good batteries, solar, better water and gray/black water systems, etc. Maybe sacrifice half of the 2nd stateroom. I bet 100K would do wonders!
With the 'under rear deck storage'there's no need to sacrifice any space for batteries and converter.Same for storage tanks and a water filtration.Great idea.
Looks lovely but a little dated I suppose, still perfect size for a family with kids! Btw I’m writing this comment at the end of the video while ads are playing! That’s my way of appreciating you and saying thank you for being so amazing! 👍🏻
Oh dear. On the lifting stair storage cupboard in the galley I was tempted to say " I thought it was going to be the crew quarters". Shame I had already used that line on a previous vlog.
That canvas and isinglass enclosure for the cockpit area, I would have it made where you can unzip the isinglass and roll it up out of the way, leaving a bug screen in place. The fresh air, breeze and keep them insects from invading your space.
Based on it's size intended market, +10 for everything, -1 for engine access. "No step" area like giving a kid an ice cream with a label that reads "don't eat."
Phantom(thastic) nice boat Nick, and before I saw that little foldable step thing,so that you could get down to the engine,I started to think that you should be very good at Parkour Nick, since you always have to climb up and down in and out on every boat that you always present to us in such a nice way :) :) :) I wish you and your family a very good weekend Nick.
I’d love to see you make a video showing what you’d buy for £50k, 80k, 120k, 170k, 280k also covering the key differences at each step. For example, what price point do you start seeing 2nd engines? What are the changing marina costs?
I just realizes that If I sell my current boat and save up a bit I can afford one of these! Provided I can change the pound sign for Norwegian Kroner without the comma moving :D
I'm hoping in just a few years you will be able to buy 3d printed hulls that you can fit out yourself. I mean a 40ft Hull for £20k then all the furnishings off the shelf to mix and match. Sort of a flat pack boat.
Can we all appreciate how well nick disguises taking off his shoes when he is going into the boat in some videos?
Great to see you reviewing the "lower" end of the market and not just the high end yachts. Maybe a monthly "£50k bargain buy" review?
That’s a really cool idea I hope he does this because I do prefer the smaller boats 👍👍
Do they make a Jon Boat Yacht with a 25 hp outboard, that'd be about all I could afford. My ex takes the rest.
Thanks mate
I commented on another video to a similar idea. If you want to see 50k affordable boats, go to your marina or a local dealer and have a look. This is something we all can access. Or for some of us, close off the interior so we can run the AC. LOL
If i sold my house i could afford this boat. Now all i need to do is find the money to buy a house and im sorted
if i sold my house with all it contents and my car. i still wouldn’t be able to afford this boat 🥺 .... how much do wife and children go for? 🤔
Just get a mortgage for decent house, sell the house for cash only to some investor who doesn't mind doing shady business, buy the boat, sail away to freedom.

@@beloved_lover Sounds like a well thought out and solid plan. Totally flawless. Come Monday im doing this :P

Even Nordhavn acknowledged this and, thus, the wonderful, new, N41.

Same for me. I like clever details . A „Super Yacht“ has less constraints and, hence, to much of everything. Boring.
That has been very well maintained. The decor may date it a bit, but it looks nearly new in some areas. “One careful lady owner” springs to mind. And it’s a real steal at that price. More like this please Nick 😀
I really like that layout. Once again, would be absolutely perfect for great lakes life.
Greetings from the US of A. You have the best boat reviews on UA-cam. I love the seamless walkthroughs without all the fluff.
Hey there USA! Glad you like them :)
One of the best laid out yachts for its size that I’ve seen so far! Fantastic use of space and maintains an open feel.
The change in style in the 13 years since this boat was made to now really makes me wonder what boats we'll be watching in 2033 with Nick will be like and if we'll look back on 2020's boats and say stuff like 'nice boat but it's a bit dated"! 😂
I concur - its remarkable how quickly fashion/taste/styling change...

And also how roomier the new boats are, for example look at the size of either cabins on the Princess F40 compared to this
I do think the same thing hahahha
What a well though out layout. So much space for a 2007 40 footer. Even a wetbar on the fly. Thanks Nick for sharing.
Great review, I had a Phantom 40 prior to my Phantom 48 that is currently lying in Portland waiting for Lock Down in UK marinas to end
A couple of points, firstly, the cruising range is around 200 miles at 23 to 27 knots, you would get 300 miles if you were chugging along at six to eight knots.

Totally agree with you: every yacht I've seen above 40-50 foot is just a bling-bling and things on those mostly do not make much sense anymore.
What I really miss on smaller boats is the possibility to put in a washer/dryer.
The Tiny House movement provides dwellings that have less square footage than this boat. Not sure I would like living space that small.
I don’t know where you’re at but the tiny house movement is getting pretty big here in America. And a lot of other places around the world too.
Yes the kitchen sink doubles as a jacuzzi on this boat.
Quite a nice layout, would make a nice live aboard, or a lovely weekender. Being able to properly close off the saloon is fantastic for higher latitudes. Another great Aquaholic tour!

I cant afford to buy a boat but ı still watch your videos. I like you and your videos. From Turkey🇹🇷🇹🇷
Hey there Turkey!
The saloon looked different than usual yachts.
This is the kind of boat I like, (similar to that princess F45). Its just big enough to do everything you want it to, and have "mini yacht feeling" boat, but it's small enough to manage and take care of yourself, and at $200K, its a realistic life goal on my salaries that I could own some day.
I would of never guessed that is a 13 year old yacht. Cheers Nick! Hope you have a great weekend 🙏✌
That's very kind of you. Yes, seen Doug. :)
I don’t know, I think Nick is way classier than Doug. I enjoy Doug too, but there is a lot of quirkiness about him, whereas Nick is pure perfection :)
A little bit of reupholstering of the blue to grey (like the Sunseeker super hawk you toured) and this would be perfect 👌🏼 A lot of boat for the money
I think you are right.
Nice boat for the money, got everything you practically need (except an ice maker) A few updates id make but be very happy with this one
That is a nice boat for a 2007. Immaculate condition as well like the Smugglers Blues.
Great looking yacht!
I would happily spend the rest of my days on this
Hi Nick that is one very nice boat if only i had the money lol great video buddy nice to see you back on the boats
Another great video Nick - once again sporting the VERY classy Rolex GMT 2 watch with the "Coke" bezel! Nice :-)
Very nice boat. It contains everything you need. Also, if you perhaps are interested in video ideas, i would recommend to do a ocean Alexander 90r tour. I love that boat
Love to, but travel is the issue currently
That' s true. Hope the pandemic will fade away soon
This is an excellent layout for a 40-footer. It seems so much bigger than it actually is.
Nice looking boat
Looks lovely but a little dated I suppose, still perfect size for a family with kids! Btw I’m writing this comment at the end of the video while ads are playing! That’s my way of appreciating you and saying thank you for being so amazing! 👍🏻
You’re very kind 🙂
We don't have any problems with insects on the water in the UK.
@@AQUAHOLIC We do in the Pacific North West. Specially in the remoter anchorages.
Based on it's size intended market, +10 for everything, -1 for engine access. "No step" area like giving a kid an ice cream with a label that reads "don't eat."
"Little Blighters" that one is new to me. 🤣🍻
You too! 🙂
Thank you Nick :) :) :)
Really nice and compact boat for the size.
Perfect boat for coastal trips to match that house 2 miles up the hill, isn't it?
Fantastic to see your review style on a lower priced boat - not sure if you review comments on the older posts but please add some
More coming!
I'm hoping in just a few years you will be able to buy 3d printed hulls that you can fit out yourself. I mean a 40ft Hull for £20k then all the furnishings off the shelf to mix and match. Sort of a flat pack boat.
Beautiful boat for the price
I really like this boat....it may be one of my favorites...I like the ones that have the galley mid boat
