Considering on the Power Trac website that machine is over $52000, I would say you got one hell of a deal for only paying $500. And for it to be a low hour functioning machine is the icing on the cake.
Same. But not necessarily a bad battery, just flat. The mistake was thinking you could get enough amperage through extra cabling and battery clamps. As soon as it started and died, i said "fuse" and then just waited.... 😉😂
You can't tell if a filter is full of dust by looking at it, LOL you have to hit it against a hard surface I retired as a diesel mechanic put your charger leads directly on the starter
Under most situations 12 volts will not zap you, really the only time it will, if you are connecting a battery and it's raining you could potentially get a small zap but nothing dangerous. Also when you were trying to start it, you should have put the the good battery in place instead of trying to boost it, you could have potentially caused harm to your new starter. When boosting like this you are losing a lot of amps through the jumper cables and the dead battery. Also the dead battery is acting like a big resistor, trying to take a charge.
I never thought about the dead battery situation. I just charged one of the batteries on my dad's blazer (diesel M1009), just to get it cranked because it has been sitting. I'm pretty sure that the other battery is bad because it's really old. It makes perfect sense that the dead battery would act as a resistor, or draw. I just never thought about it. Lol
Those are built about 2 miles from my house in a small town in Virginia i used to haul them, i just started the video but if you get it going you go a hell of a good deal. Hell i will come to you and buy it as is lol
Good video I own a 2001 1850 it is a very capable machine. I would for sure install the upgraded cooling fan Power-Trac installs on their current 1850.
This bid just brighten my rain 🌧️ day. Totally got a sub from me. I appreciate the wholesomeness too. I kan send this to my neighbor to show his young sons without issue. Right on.
I would be very happy to find one of those at twice the price, even in that condition. You stole it, LOL. Like another poster, I also visited the factory years ago when tractor shopping. Did not buy as it did not fit my needs at the the time. Now I just want one because!! Good luck with it & let me know when it is for sale!
Not sure why he feathered old and new batteries…would make more sense to simply hook the new battery up direct, even if you needed to extend/swap cables…also a can of starting fluid would’ve helped…
You should definitely go back and get some money to that guy that's worth about 15,000 I was bidding on one of the auction a few months back lost it at 3500 I didn't have an attachment with it just a rotary mower
Unlikely the old battery was pulling a draw. Usually if a battery pulls current, it's still good and will take a charge. That battery wasn't taking a charge he had jumper cables on it for quite a long period of time and it didn't help turn the engine over. So more than likely it had open cells not short it sells. He had trouble getting it to turn over fast because he was expecting a 100 amps to go through some 16 gauge booster wires. That's why as soon as he connected the good battery directly to the main heavy wires it started right up. Those style of booster wires are just intended to help charge the dead battery, not carry the entire load to start up something like a diesel engine.
Fun Little Piece of Equipment. What State are you in? If I had to Guess I would say California. The landscape looks very familiar to Northern California (North of Sacramento Area.) ;)
They certainly do. I had never seen a flail mower until a few years ago. They are pretty cool. They can pretty much do anything that a bush hog can do. They actually work like a drum grinder on the smaller stuff as well.
Hahaha why don’t you pull your head out if your ass and maybe then you can see!! They’ve been around along time and work great, it’s a huge upgrade over a blade mower
I think you lose alot of juice trying to go through jumper cables to a dead battery, you'd be better off installing the battery directly to the cables.
No you put a fresh battery in the unit your trying to start!!! Period. Changing the starter was completely unnecessary the old one was fine but by hooking up to the old battery caused all the problems.

Just the flail mower is worth more than $500. Wish I could find a deal like that.
Nice buy, doesn't look to bad either and love the fact everything is easy to get to to fix.
Take the old battery off it could be a dead cell drawing currant !
i so wish i could find a deal like that.. you are blessed indeed
Interesting looking machine. Believe I would try to air up tires before moving it though.
haha! Yeah, I was excited to get it moving.
Wow great find
The look of surprise when it started was priceless.
By the way, I was talking to the screen "unhook the old battery, it is shorted" LOL..

Looks like a predecessor of the Ven-Trac.
Awesome find
So nice when it`s so little to fix.
You can't tell if a filter is full of dust by looking at it, LOL you have to hit it against a hard surface I retired as a diesel mechanic put your charger leads directly on the starter
I misspoke put your jumper leads directly on the starter was what I meant to say
Cool deal, thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
That's a great score!
Sick to see a forestry mulcher on that lol. Great find $500 that's a steal
That thing is awesome!! Great price on it as well. Hope to see more out of this channel in the future I’m enjoying the video!!
Thanks! We're currently working on part 2. Make sure you subscribe and hit the bell icon so you get notified when the new video is up.
That looks a lot easier to work on than my Steiners. But the length is probably a bit much for really rough terrain.
Cool machine. What a deal!
Please keep with updates. Now i want one of these machines
Much more to come! Make sure you subscribe and hit the notification bell to get updates.

Keep up the good content!
Thanks for watching!
If I'm not mistaken, those machines are made in Tazewell VA. I've ran make of them and toured the facility. They are well made and do a good job.
Yes, that's where they are made. The seem very well built. I'm impressed with it so far.
I would be very happy to find one of those at twice the price, even in that condition. You stole it, LOL.

That thing is awesome
What a steal
Damn bro fill the tires
haha! I know. I was excited to get it going.
I love to have something like that sure could use it
You should go back and give that man some more money
Deutz engines are air cooled ,look the engine over make sure that air can get around the engine. Mice love to build nests under metal fairings.
Thanks for the info!
always disconnect the old battery, it's an amperage leach.
A good test for the flail is drop it on top of that horrible green thing under the sheet next to it
Not sure why he feathered old and new batteries…would make more sense to simply hook the new battery up direct, even if you needed to extend/swap cables…also a can of starting fluid would’ve helped…
The battery installed is drawing all the amps, remove it and install a decent battery
You should definitely go back and get some money to that guy that's worth about 15,000 I was bidding on one of the auction a few months back lost it at 3500 I didn't have an attachment with it just a rotary mower
Definitely need some 2 gauge jumpers
Should always put the battery in the machine instead of using cables
Yep you know that starter was good he changed out to just because he didn’t have a good battery in the unit
Saw this for sale! is it still available.,
Yeah!
Thanks for watching!
I actually had a bad battery that had an internal short that caused the same type issue.
I have its little sister, the 1845. Also bought used at a huge discount. If (when) you want to sell it, let me know.
Is this machine for sale at all?
Disconnect all safety switches and go from there
Burn the pump up without fluid?
Bad ground?
New that is $65K😊
I was thinking WOW, he picked that up for $500. That's awesome. I'm jealous.
Get rid of the old battery. If it is dead it will take all the current.
There is actually a dealer in tazewell Virginia
Why wouldn’t you remove the old battery its zapping all the current?

Correct. And ditto for the jumper clamps ~

Bingo!
@@rustyassets Grass Valley!
I don't understand how that is a mower, looks like a rototiller or sweeper. don't see how horizontal blades can mow.
They certainly do. I had never seen a flail mower until a few years ago. They are pretty cool. They can pretty much do anything that a bush hog can do. They actually work like a drum grinder on the smaller stuff as well.

The Scolloping on the cutting edge says a lot more than 168 hours, unless it's made of plastasine
It's not original to the machine.
The bucket is stamped cat so definitely not original to the machine.
So how hard did the owner try to fix it.🙄
You shut it off so fast after it started. Blow up tires or ruin them.
I think you lose alot of juice trying to go through jumper cables to a dead battery, you'd be better off installing the battery directly to the cables.
Fuehrerschein vergessen, wat!!!!!
cool video but sort your audio will ya
Take that old battery out and get a new one
Use a jump box or a truck to jump it next time
No you put a fresh battery in the unit your trying to start!!! Period. Changing the starter was completely unnecessary the old one was fine but by hooking up to the old battery caused all the problems.
I have a jump box and a truck. I typically dont carry 3-400 batteries on hand. Maybe you do?
Fuses
Change the battery
Please turn down the music. Kinda tough watching with earphones. Great video though.
Thanks for the feedback, I'll lower the levels in the future videos. Thanks for watching!
Would you be interested in selling that
Yeah, once I am done with the second video.
take out the dead battery
Yes you stole that
Would you like to sell that thing before you dump any more money into it
I'm going to keep going with it. I'm currently working on it and filming part 2. I'll sell it once I'm done.
