    Just wanted to point out, you don't fall into the trap of putting a gun on every hardpoint. Props. I feel like there is a large part of the SS community that hasn't caught on to builds like your Hammerhead yet.

      Took me a long time to realize that as well. Sustained fire is another good priority to pressure shield flux, opening hulls up to torpedo barrages.

      Pretty sure there actually a huge chunk of veteran SS players that know that. There are actually a lot of ships that have a lot of useless gun slots, ie the conquest is one of them with useless gun points on its back. Once you poke around in SS long enough you will master most weapons and ships to master flux management and marneuverability to not have a bunch of point defense guns. Unless its the dominator. That ship is designed to be a literal point defense machine

      As much as I am aware of this, my OCD will always win. There MUST be a gun on every slot. Good thing the Kadur Remnant mod has that little CIWS that comes at just 1 OP.

      with safety safety override your smaller ships tend to go for face to face combat so you put in point defense weapons, they're CRAZY efficient and take less points to fit, leaving you with more flux and vent and more gimmics

    InYou can give out an order of avoiding the target - the station in this case - then rclick the same target with the slow ships - the legion in this case - selected, thus everything else avoids the target until the avoidance order is lifted while the slow ones pursue the target seeking engagement.

    Just yesterday i took out all my best ships to get some shit done, and while im wasting supplies, why not to kill everything possible, which was by a chance this very station (wrong place, wrong time, unlucky bastards). For battle station killing the best are ships like that hammerhead you had - a lot of dakka on one platform. Eradicators. Dominators. Eagles. Cos even XIV Legion is garbage - it’s a mixed class ship so it never excels in any particular roles it shares. It lacks bays and OP for a decent carrier and too fragile for battleship.

    • @Oxtrooo
      @Oxtrooo 2 роки тому +1

      in the same vein the legion does not get countered by any one strategy nearly as much. So if your up against rememnant carrier spam it can survive that pretty well, while an onslaught will struggle manouvering around and dealing with flanking.

    • @pakovandrapa
      @pakovandrapa 2 роки тому

      @@Oxtrooo I usually attach one of my Champions built as a PD-cruiser with Phalanx, burst lasers and stuff to the Onslaught. It screens a part of incoming damage and completely eliminates all the missiles and small craft cos Onslaught also has something to show in PD-sense. In these conditions that heavy thermal canon dakka makes a short story of any of the opposition including Remnant battlestation. However, against the latter I add one Astral with 1 Lux 2 Longbow ant the rest those heavy TB with two torps.

      The Legion XIV is one of the quickest station killers. Of course it takes long to travel if it doesn't use its burn drive system. Besides, stations have little PD so once they are full of flux the legion can just drop hammer barrages or cyclone reapers and be done with it. That's a valid approach against other capitals, too, since most of the missiles make it through when fired as linked and you have the missile skill.
      There have been several recent changes that all make the legion alot stronger:
      The missile skill has been buffed. It now provides missile damage, refire rate, ammo capacity and missile health. Additionally, the new versions of polarized armor and ordenance experise work well with the legion (tbf they do with every ship).
      Hullmods can be built in. Earlier, the legion suffered hard from its lacking OP but now you can build in very expensive hullmods. EMR doubles its missiles, with the missile skill triples it. Hardened armor and reinforced bulkheads help it tank without using flux, you only have to use your shields against HE projectiles and missiles.
      Burn Drive can now be cancelled mid use, so you can travel exactly the distance you want.
      Fighters aren't a weakness. You don't have the OP to field expensive squadrons, but you can easily field Broadswords, Sparks, Lux and/or Claw. I recommend trying out 2 broadsword 2 claw, since that means your fighters deal good damage vs shields and afterwards disable enemey weapons. Regardless of which ones you pick, they all support a brawler playstyle. The argument that the legion "tries to do too many things at once" doesn't count if all of its "things" (fighters, armor, burn drive, guns, missiles) contribute towards the same goal of hitting something directly infront of the legion.
      As for weapons, i suggest 3 heavy autocannons and 2 heavy maulers. You should get ITU but you don't have to get gunnery implants & ballistic mastery if you don't want to, you could instead opt for more brawler oriented skills. Either way, make sure to take polarized armor and the missile skill while avoiding the skills for shields & subsystem. Impact mitigation and damage control are also quite nice to have. You are outgunned by other capitals, but you only need to drop their shields for your missiles to hit. You can also just overload them with the missiles and fire again before they recover.
      Hammer barrage and cyclone reapers are both good missiles. Hammer barrages have low firing cooldowns, so with the new missile skill you can really spam them. This puts heavy pressure against ships that would otherwise be stronger like radiants or onslaughts. Cyclone reapers represent a more conservative approach to ammo and long deployments.
      Since you don't focus on tanking with shields, you don't have to worry about losing the "flux war" as much (as long as the enemey doesn't have just as much missile firepower as you have, which is unlikely). Instead, pick just enough vents to match your weapon and pick hullmods like integrated targeting unit, automated repair unit, armored weapon mounts.
