The comic history gag makes a comeback, a 90's kid cameo, and the Ancient Egypt gag? Clearly, Linkara appreciates that everyone gets a little nostalgic around the holidays. :)

Alan Moore DID say, in his "On Comics" writing guide, that it was important to write a backstory for every single character. Even minor ones, and even if it never really factored into the story, because it would ensure that the writer would think about why or how they're behaving the way they are. Nice to see he stuck with that mentality even when writing on something called "AWESOME COMICS." Also the live-action Tick (the Patrick Warburton one) had a running joke about someone with the last name Waxman being a super-villain in one episode, and anything that reminds me of that gone-too-soon show is alright in MY book.
You know, the "new Youngblood team" was actually pretty good as an intro story to a new team. Shaft has an actual personality beyond "grimaces and spouts one-liners", characters have backgrounds and pasts beyond "mysterious" there's some humour and an attempt to set up some team dynamics with a group that largely can't stand each other. Of course, it was completely botched in short order, but I think there was real potential there.

I think can it work in a sense, like you see an idea that you think you can make something greater with it, the problem was that they just go "DC/Marvel had this character so I must have it too"

It's just 4 teaser trailers for other books you could buy, but they take place in the snow and in one of them they're buying gifts. All of these stories could be transplanted into any other holiday with minimal rewrites and it would make no difference.
Sigh I would be happy that it's the month of Christmas but then I remember it's still the year 2020. Well at least we have these fun comic reviews to look forward to.

As a Manhattanite, I laugh when writer's think Hell's Kitchen is some sort of rough neighborhood. For the past few decades it's where Broadway actors live, with tons of cabaret bars and gay bars. Hell's Kitchen has taken over from Chelsea as the boroughs gayborhood. And has been that way for the past 60 years. (laugh)

Fun review with classic jokes making a return and loving the Christmas outfit! The blue and white certainly makes for a wintry ambiance.
Color correction really pushed the blues and purples of the lights, too, to help with the atmosphere, and I am all for it.
