I know each generation has it's own favourite type of music, but how can anyone who has any emotional attachment to music not love this man's songs? Great talent, great loss. Thanks Vern.
I saw Vern Gosdin and George Jones in Lexington Ky back in the 80s remembering back that was the day I officially become I country music fan. Real country music!
George Jones was my go to country idol growing up listening to my parents tapes but then I found this man . My god have I found something on a different level . I've now got over 50 songs of his on my playlist ! A song for every occasion and mood x
So in love with this man! He was called The Voice for a reason! His songs can make me cry quicker than any artist out there. Today’s artists can’t hold a candle to Vern and all the other older artists.
My daddy n I listened to Vern a lot the. When momma passed away chiseled in Stone was a true song for us then is it raining at your house we called each other Daily and I’d joke with him over the rain I sure miss him 17 yrs now I got him started on Verns music and man we played it all the time he passed away with cancer I drove 100 miles to drive him 60 miles for all day treatments but I’d do it all over again it was everyday mon thru fri for 4 1/2 years God bless him and momma they are resting pain free
When you stand before God, he will say too you, well done my faithful servant. I did the same for my mom. Verns music is forever engraved in my heart. 🙏
I have started listening to Vern again and keep listening to the same ones over again. They are so beautiful and it is as if he feels exactly the same feelings we do and can put them to music. I never tire of them he is The Voice for sure.
Yes, he is The Voice of country. He never got enough credit for his huge contribution to the music industry. Such a great natural talent. Nobody can sing a tear jerker like Vern. Loved this guy and I shall listen to and sing his music as long as I can.
I washed cars to earn enough money to go see Vern Gosdin when he came to Nacogdoches, Tx. a very long time ago.... Didn't really know who he was then, but oh how I loved his music...and I still do....
Always heard a lot of George Jones, Tammy Wynette and many others on the radio over the years but, never heard much about Vern Gosdin. This man was a true star that I feel never got the recognition he so deserved. Beautiful voice and a beautiful person taken too early from us. Rest in peace Vern!!!!
+Brian Skirvin As good as George Jones was,, I always felt his voicings were a bit over the top, sort of over countrified, and he's certainly NOT alone in that regard!! On the other hand,, Vern Gosdin could belt out songs and there is never a "coercion of country"! In fact,, that "over-done" country-ish style I'm talking about has kept me away from country music for quite some time!!! i just heard "Is it raining at your house" a day or so ago, on XM-RADIO, and my eyes watered up,, partly from the beautiful song that it is,, but,,, mostly BECAUSE OF VERN'S SUPERBLY BELIEVABLE VOICE!!! R.I.P. V.G.
Sonny Cannon Sonny, "Is it Raining at your House" is an absolute favorite of mine. Have you heard him sing "Was it Just The Wine?" or "If You're Gonna do me Wrong do me Right." I could listen to him every day. I will admit there were some George Jones songs that sound a little too "countrified but I still consider him one of the greatest and certainly one of the pioneers of country music. Just my opinion. Im not at all a fan of todays "new" country artists and I wont listen to them. Just not the same quality of singers as the older ones used to be.
Never heard of him either, Don't know why they never played his music, he had wonderful songs and a great voice voice, when I heard his first song I was hooked. I now listen to his music every night when I go to bed. R.I.P. Vern,
I love this singer. He will never be gone in my home.I play his music and sob afterward. This is what real country music is right here. This new music is nothing compared to this older music.Gosh they had the musics and the voices. You cant dance to this music today.I call it mopping floor music.Jumping up and down.My daddy would be ashamed of this music today they call country,if he were living.Sheesh!
This man had the best voice I have ever heard in concert and yes I been to a George Jones show or two but Vern was just in a class of his own and I was honored to get to talk to him in Bristol Tennessee and he was the most down to earth celebrity I have ever talked to he ranks right up there with Richard Petty RIP Vern
Every once in awhile I'll try listening to a top 40 country station, but after about 3 songs that all sound exactly the same, I switch back to the classics.......rip real country Music
my wife and I were on the edge of divorce I was going through some of country's greatest hits this song came on I thought this describes us so one morning on the way to work I said to my wife will you listen to this it describes you and I when the song finished I looked at my wife and it was like a switch had been turned on that was 2 years ago and things are great I'm. glad I found this song
I had the awesome pleasure of seeing Vern live 4 times. The best was in Baton Rouge, La. in a club the held maybe 100 people and this place was packed wall to wall. I had a table right up front, so close I could reach up and touch him. He signed my cowgirl boots. A night I will never forget.
NOT TO SPEAK ILL....BUT COUNTRY IS NOT COUNTRY ANYMORE....VERN GOSDIN...JONES. TWITTY AND SO ON. THE LAST TRUE SONG TO SUM UP COUNTRY WAS G.STRAIT AND A.J. MURDER ON MUSIC ROW.
I saw a package show once in Terre Haute, Indiana with George Jones, Conway Twitty, and Vern. George liked to go on first so he could get back to the bus and watch football or Matlock. Conway went on last. Vern held his own very well, he was great.
You're right brother we only have a few left that's Alan Jackson and George Strait and it barely playing their music anymore so we just have to go back to the old days and play the music that we love George Jones Johnny Cash Merle Haggard Etc
Vern has driven me home alot of nights. Via my cassette player. I have been blessed to meet him watch him play n sing. He was a character. Once he told my girlfriend {young lady if you weren't so pretty I might just take you home with me). I love me some Vern..

These new so called "country singers" could learn so much from just listening to the heart and soul that Vern put into his music. He is still and always will be "The Voice". My all time favorite along with George and Merle.

Amazing lyrics delivered as only "the voice" can sing them. Vern had a way of singing tear jerkers in a way that made listeners going through tough times realize, they are not alone feeling the way the do and, in time, things will get better. "Chiseled in Stone" is a brilliant album and Vern was one of the all time great country singers -- the real deal unlike so many of the manufactured Cowboy hat wearing singers of today who grew up in the suburbs. RIP Mr. Gosdin
I use to go watch Vern in 1985 on the corner of Stewart and Cleveland Avenue at a little Bar, called West Texas Country Club. I never knew back then that he would become the VOICE OF COUNTRY MUSIC. I loved his music then, and i still love it today!! RIP Vern Gosdin.........U left this world way too soon, my friend

I'm 85 but I still love his voice.
If you can't feel this song in your soul. Change the song. This is real country music.
George Jones was my go to country idol growing up listening to my parents tapes but then I found this man . My god have I found something on a different level . I've now got over 50 songs of his on my playlist ! A song for every occasion and mood x
